Pattern-based query processing has not attracted much attention in wireless sensor network though its counterpart has been studied extensively in data stream. The methods used for data stream usually consume large memory and much energy. This conflicts with the fact that wireless sensor networks are heavily constrained by their hardware resources. In this paper, we use piece wise representation to represent sensor nodes' collected data to save sensor nodes' memory and to reduce the energy consumption for query. After getting data stream's and patterns' approximated line segments, we record each line's slope. We do similar matching on slope sequences. We compute the dynamic time warping distance between slope sequences. If the distance is less than user defined threshold, we say that the subsequence is similar to the pattern. We do experiments on STM32W108 processor to evaluate our strategy's performance compared with naive method. The results show that our strategy's matching precision is less than that of naive method, but our method's energy consumption is much better than that of naive approach. The strategy proposed in this paper can be used in wireless sensor network to process pattern-based queries.
XML can effectively express structured or semi-structured data as well as relational databases. XQuery is a query language for retrieving information for such an XML document. In this paper, an XQuery composer is designed and implemented, with an API provided for XQuery processors, and a proper processor is registered. This composer shows query results immediately processed by the processor. As this composer contains a parser for XQuery, it can compose XQuery effectively using a diverse dialog box designed for XQuery grammar. A dialog box is affiliated with a clause region, which is a region that algebra operates from the parsing tree. It can compose path expressions for an XML document easily as it shows an element tree from DTD graphically. Path expressions are composed automatically by marking elements in the structural hierarchy and by specifying the predicate of an element partially.

XML has become a do facto standard for structured document and data on the Web. An XML data deluge over the network will be more, since XML based standards such as Web Service and Semantic Web gets popular. There are efforts to store and query XML documents in a relational database system and recent efforts focus on how to provide such operations using XPath and XQuery. In this paper, we present study about those research efforts and we propose a new scheme to stoγe and query XML documents in a relational database using XPath query. The scheme uses a 'shred' method to store and translates XPath queries to SQL. We also present our empirical experiments using a RDBMS.
In order to access XML data stored in object databases, an efficient index scheme is inevitable. There have been several index schemes that can be used to efficiently retrieve XML data stored In object databases, but they are all the single path indexes that support indexing along a single schema path. Henee, if a query contains an extended path which is denoted by wild character ('*'), a query processor has to examine multiple index objects, resulting in poor performance and inconsistent index management. In this paper, we propose MPI (Multi-Path Index) scheme as a new index scheme that provides the functionality of multiple path indexes more efficiently, while it uses only one index structure. The proposed scheme is easy to manage since it considers the extended path as a logically single schema path. It is also practical since it can be implemented by little modification of the B -tree index structure.

Currently, many geographic information systems deal with only vector data. Therefore, handling raster data for various types of information is greatly needed. In this paper, we design and implement a raster processor which handles spatial information in a spatial object management system called Object Management system for Geospatial Application (OMEGA). We define the data structure of the raster information to be stored in the spatial object management system and implement it to a class library in order for use in making an application program. Furthermore, a query operation and related module is implemented to extract raster information. They are then imbedded in the query executer to process a query of the raster information. Simulation results are given.
Dissemination of XML data on the internet could breach the privacy of data providers unless access to the disseminated XML data is carefully controlled. Recently, the methods using encryption have been proposed for such access control. However, in these methods, the performance of processing queries has not been addressed. A query processor cannot identify the contents of encrypted XML data unless the data are decrypted. This limitation incurs overhead of decrypting the parts of the XML data that would not contribute to the query result. In this paper, we propose the notion of query-aware decryption for efficient processing of queries against encrypted XML data. Query-aware decryption allows us to decrypt only those parts that would contribute to the query result. For this purpose, we disseminate an encrypted XML index along with the encrypted XML data. This index, when decrypted, informs us where the query results are located in the encrypted XML data, thus preventing unnecessary decryption for other parts of the data. Since the size of this index is much smaller than that of the encrypted XML data, the cost of decrypting this index is negligible compared with that for unnecessary decryption of the data itself. The experimental results show that our method improves the performance of query processing by up to 6 times compared with those of existing methods. Finally, we formally prove that dissemination of the encrypted XML index does not compromise security.

Healthcare application system has been actively researched to apply WSN technology to healthcare area with a mobile sensor node of low cost, low power, and small size. Sensor node has the problem for transmission range of RF power and time delay of the wireless routing connectivity between sensor nodes. In this paper, we proposes a new method utilizing mobile sensor nodes with relay sensor nodes for quick network routing changing using query technique in healthcare system. A query processor to control and manage the routing changing of sensor nodes in a wireless sensor network was designed and implemented. The user's PC transmits the beacon message which will change the quick link routing according to activity status of patient in wireless sensor network. We describe the implementation for query protocol that is very effective of power saving between sensor nodes.
