We synthesized glycidyl azide monomer(GAM) as a monomer for polymerization of glycidy azide polymer(GAP) which is a promising energetic prepolymer for a plastic-bonded explosive. Using quantitative real-tim in-situ infrared(in-situ IR) spectroscopy, kinetic study on the cationic ring opening polymerization of GAM was carried out. The reaction rate was obtained from monitoring the change of ether C-O stretching band($1050cm^{-1}$) in series IR spectra. The reaction was in accordance with the first-order reaction law for each of reaction temperature at 100/1 mole ratio of [GAM]/[$BF_3*etherate$]. In the ring opening polymerization of GAM, with ratio of [GAM]/[$BF_3*etherate$] to equal 100/1 at various temperature, the activation parameters obtained from the evaluation of kinetic data were ${\Delta}H^*$=14.34kcal/mol, ${\Delta}S^*=-12.31cal/mol{\cdot}K$ and $E_a$=14.89kcal/mol.
We are suggesting an authoring tool can be used for prototyping in the augmented reality based product design environment. This tool is for authors without an engineering background to use. Our authoring tool can adjust the properties of visual, sound, and haptic feedback at the same time for more practical prototyping. Also the proposed modulated architecture can be applied flexibly to changes of platforms or hardware. Also user interfaces can be dynamically updated by changing just description files. finally, the suggested authoring methods exploit the advantages of both graphical and tangible user interfaces. Authors can intuitively make adjustments to many parameters using the TUI, and then they can do the same thing precisely using the GVI. The proposed authoring methods can be used for exhibition and entertainment contents using multi-sensory feedback in AR environment. As a future work, qualitative and quantitative usability test will be conducted.

RC (Reinforced Concrete) member has varying service life due to varying diffusion characteristics with loading conditions even if it is exposed to constant exterior conditions. In the paper, quantitative parameters are obtained through adopting the previous results for effects of compressive, tensile, and cold joint on chloride diffusion in OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) and GGBFS (Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag) concrete. Service life is evaluated in RC simple beam with 10.0m of span through increasing loading from self weight (2.5kN/m) to the loading to cracking moment (5.5kN/m). In OPC concrete without cold joint, service life changes to 89.4% for tensile region and 101% for compressive region with loadings while GGBFS concrete has 80.0% and 106%, respectively. For cold joint area, GGBFS concrete shows much reduced service life to 82~80% in compressive region and 69~61% in tensile region, which is caused by the lower diffusion in normal condition but relatively higher increasing cold joint effect than OPC concrete.

The behavior of spray emanating from an injector to be employed in a liquid-propellant thrust chamber is investigated by optical measurement techniques. The injector has eight holes, each of which has 30 cant angle from the center-axis with the diameter of 0.406 mm. In order to examine an atomization process according to the spray-generation conditions and the evolution along spray downstream, variational features in the velocity and size of droplets obtained through Dual-mode Phase Doppler An 799emometry (DPDA) are delineated and discussed together with instantaneous plane images captured by using Nd:Yag laser sheet beam. A categorization of spray-flow regime representing the atomization and turbulent nature is made through evaluating the non-dimensional parameters, i.e., Reynolds number and Weber number based upon the theoretical injection velocity. These qualitative and quantitative data of spray breakup will be a firm basis for the design of brand-new thruster

In the field of aircraft icing prediction, surface roughness has been considered as critical factor because it enhances convective heat transfer and changes local collection efficiency. For this significance, experimental studies have been conducted to acquire the quantitative data of the formation process. Meanwhile, these experiments was conducted under low-speed condition due to the measurement difficulties. However, it has not been investigated that how the flow characteristic of low-speed will effects to the surface roughness. Therefore, the present study conducted experiment under low-speed icing condition, and analyzed the relation between surface roughness characteristics and icing condition. As an analysis method, the dominant parameters used in the previous high-speed experiments are employed, and roughness characteristics are compared. The size of roughness element was consistent with the previous known tendency, but not the smooth zone width.

Nucleate pool boiling experiments for R11 under a constant wall temperature condition were carried out. A microscale heater array was used for the heating and the measurement of high temporal and spatial resolution by the Wheatstone bridge circuit. Very sensitive heat flow rate data were obtained by the control for the surface condition with high time resolution. The measured heat flow rate shows a discernable peak at the initial growth stage and reaches an almost constant value. In the thermal growth region, bubble shows a growth proportional to $t^{\frac{1}{5}}$. The bubble growth behavior is analyzed with a dimensionless parameter to compare with the previous results in the same scale. As the wall superheat increases, the departure diameter and the departure time increase, and the waiting time decreases. But the asymptotic growth rate is not affected by the wall superheat change. The effect of the wall superheat is resolved into the suggested growth equation. Dimensionless parameters of time and bubble radius characterize the thermal growth behavior well, irrespective of wall condition. The comparison between the result of this study and the previous results shows a good agreement at the thermal growth region. The quantitative analysis for the heat transfer mechanism is conducted with the measured heat flow rate behavior and the bubble growth behavior. The required heat flow rate for the volume change of the observed bubble is about twice as much as the instantaneous heat flow rate supplied from the wall.

In this study, the stabilization of an edge flame and the intensity variation of a diffusion branch were investigated using a multi-slot combustor under conditions of high temperature and small fuel-concentration gradient (FCG). The combustor consists of three narrow channels: a quartz channel and two side-heating combustors. For the accuracy of this experimental study, quantitative analysis was carried out for each boundary condition. Stable edge flames could be observed under high-temperature conditions by controlling the FCG and fuel dilution ratio. Moreover, it was found that the intensity of the diffusion flame was increased by increasing the temperature of the mixture. On the contrary, the intensity of the diffusion flame was decreased by increasing the dilution ratio. It was also found that a propane flame is more sensitively affected by these experimental parameters than a methane flame.
To determine the concentration and the physiologic role of metal components in blood plasma and seminal plasma in relation to male infertility, the concentrations of twelve metal components in blood plasma and seminal plasma including Na, Mg, K, Ca, Cr, Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, Se, Cd and Pb were measured by atomic absorbance spectrophotometery or ion selective electrode analysis. Semen and blood samples were obtained from a total of 110 men including 70 male infertility patients, 20 vasectomized persons and 20 fertility proven volunteers visited to the Male Infertility Clinic of Pusan National University Hospital. The concentrations of Ca, Zn, Mg, Cr and Cd in control group were higher in seminal plasma than in blood plasma, and additionally Pb were higher in infertility group. The concentrations of all metal components revealed no significant difference according to patients' age, resident, occupation, sperm density, motility and hormone level in blood plasma, but some metal components including Ca, Mg, Cu, Mn, Cd and Pb revealed a significant difference according to each these parameters except patient's age in seminal plasma. The concentrations of Mn, Cd and Pb in the vasectomy persons were higher than in the infertility group III including testicular and epididymal factors, but not in blood plasma. We conclude that the quantitative changes of metal components in the seminal plasma may have effects on not only spermatogenesis and sperm function, but also contribute to diagnostic parameter according to organ specificity of the metal in the male reproduction.
Objective: To investigate the promoter methylation status of the E-cadherin gene in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and its association with clinical pathological parameters, and to explore the relationship between downregulation of E-cadherin gene expression and the methylation status of its promoter region. Methods: Nested methylation-specific PCR was performed to examine CpG methylation within the 5' CpG island of the E-cadherin gene in lung cancer and para-cancerous tissue from 37 patients with primary non-small cell lung cancer. Quantitative real-time PCR was performed to measure the level of E-cadherin mRNA. Results: Of thirty-seven cases, 12 (32.4%) samples showed aberrant CpG methylation in tumor tissues compared with the corresponding normal tissues. In addition, a reduction in E-cadherin mRNA levels was observed in 11 of the 12 (91.7%) tumor tissues carrying a methylated E-cadherin gene. However, only 10 (43.5%) cases displayed reduced mRNA levels in tumor tissues from the remaining 23 cases (excluding 2 samples from which mRNA was unavailable) without methylation events. Downregulation of E-cadherin gene expression significantly correlated with the promoter methylation status of this gene. Conclusion: These results provide strong evidence that the methylation status of E-cadherin gene contributes to a reduction in the expression of E-cadherin mRNA, and may play a role in the development and progression of NSCLC.
Background: CEA and CA 15.3 serum tumor markers are currently used in clinical practice for monitoring therapy. The aim of this study was to evaluate serum level of these markers among healthy females and invasive breast carcinoma (IBC) patients and to determine any relationships with clinicopathological factors. Materials and Methods: 60 Iranian females were enrolled in this study, 30 healthy and 30 diagnosed with breast cancer who had not received any preoperative chemotherapy or hormone therapy. Enzyme linked immunosorbent assays were used for the quantitative determination of the cancer associated antigens, CEA and MUC1 (CA15-3). Results: The serological levels of CEA and CA15-3 ($5.0033{\pm}0.49{\mu}g/L$ and $178.1667{\pm}15.11$ U/ml) in the breast cancer patients were significantly higher (p=0.00) than the serum levels of normal controls ($1.1237{\pm}0.11{\mu}g/L$ and $21.13{\pm}3.058$ U/ml). Regarding the CEA marker, a significant correlation with grade of tumor was shown. Furthermore, there was a low correlation between CA15-3 and CEA marker with correlation coefficient r=0.08. Conclusions: Collectively, markedly high levels of CEA and CA15-3 were found in our patients, pointing to their use as additional tools after clinical diagnosis.
