The management of nursing resource is very important. that is because nursing staff accounts for 30-40% of total staff in a hospital and nurses provide patoents with attentive service for hours daily. The continuous turnover of nursing staff. however, impedes the quality-oriented nursing care, which will consequently leads to the loss of human and material resource in competitive society. This study aimed to calculate nurse's activity and compare the activity amount based on career experience. Futhermore it aimed to find factors which would influence 'quality weighed direct nursing activity amount'. Questionnaires and check lists for this study were distributed to nurses in a suburban hospital outside of Seoul from October 20 to November 14. 1997. The nursing activities were calculated according to professionality. independency and working hour. And then it were accumulated by quality score. The collected data was analyzed by statistical methods as t-test, ANOVA, correlation, multiple regression. The results of this study were as follows ; Firstly, carrel' experience had no influence on the quality weighed nursing activity amount. But the quality level of service of skilled nurses was higher than that of new nurses. Secondly, career was a variable affecting the quality in nursing service. So career was positively related to the quality of nursing care. Patient's disease severity and number of patient were positively correlated with weighed nursing activity amount. But job satisfaction was negatively correlated v:ith the amount. Thirdly, the independent variables which had significant influence on the weighed nursing activity amount were disease severity and the number of patients, The severity score and number of patient were directly proportional to the weighed nursing activity amount. This results indicated· that weighed nursing activity amount was influenced by the number of patient and patient's disease severity. The quality score of nursing services for experienced members is higher than that of new staff. But both new and skilled staff showed no difference in the quality weighed nursing activity amount. Internal and. external environment influences nursing activities. The quality of nursing services is very important factor in nursing activity. Therefore nursing managers should make an effort to improve nursing care quality through continuous research. Also they should try to maintain experience nurses and assign nursing staff appropriately with patient's severity and other relevant factors being considered. The quality-improved nursing care in the hospital will strengthen hospital's competitiveness.
Purpose: This study was conducted to design services for improving the quality of care of hospitalized children with acute diseases. Methods: The service design process had four phases: discovery, definition, development, and delivery. The participants were 23 mothers of hospitalized children with an acute disease, and seven nurses and three doctors working at a pediatric hospital. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and observations. The data were analyzed using content analysis and descriptive statistics. Results: The participants reported needs for explanations about the treatment, skillful nursing, and environmental improvements. The concept of the services was familiarity and enjoyment, aimed at solving the problems of unfamiliarity and boredom. A six-guideline was presented for improving the quality of care of hospitalized children with acute diseases: improvement of awareness, development of educational materials, improvement of skills, environmental improvements, play activities, and evaluations of user satisfaction. Conclusion: These findings indicate that nursing services should deliver familiarity and enjoyment to hospitalized children and their families. The findings of this study emphasize that the service design methodology can be used to improve the quality of care of hospitalized children with acute diseases.
Purpose: The study was conducted in order to identify factors influencing depression and quality of life in elderly customized home visiting health services. Methods: A total of 442 people participated as the subjects of this study. Data were collected during the period from June to September in 2010 and the measurement tool used for this study was the customized home visiting health service recording sheet recommended by the Ministry of Health. Data were analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 17.0. Results: Depression was correlated negatively with quality of life. According to the results of this research, factors influencing depression in elderly customized home visiting health services were quality of life, customized home visiting health service period, and IADL. Factors influencing quality of life in elderly customized home visiting health services were depression, joint exercise capacity, age, connection to volunteerism, IADL and ADL. Conclusion: The results of this study can be leveraged as complementary information for the effective management of customized home visiting health service subjects. Moreover, the results can be used as a reference for future studies.
The purpose of this study was to analyze consumers' expectation. perception and satisfaction. The subjects in this study were 200 employees who were employed in a department store. They experienced nursing services from the primary care center at the department store. The results were as follows: 1. The rank of perceived significance of nursing services is tangibility, reliability, assurance, responsiveness. and empathy, respectively. 2. The rank of perceived service quality is empathy. responsiveness. assurance. reliability. and tangibility. 3. The rank of expectation and the rank of perception about nursing services are same. They are assurance, reliability, responsiveness, tangibility, and empathy respectively. 4. The regression analysis, which related the effect of perceived service quality to consumers satisfaction, had R2 value of 22.9%. From the above results, it can be concluded that the higher consumers' satisfaction can be explained by the greater perceived service quality.
Recently, the hospitals in Korea has positively changed one way or another. Therefore hospital managers must focus on the nurses' role in terms of consumers' perception of overall image of hospitals and the degree of satisfaction of the consumers. To achieve the purposes, the questionnaire was developed and distributed to 280 people who had a direct experience with nursing services subjected hospitals in Seoul at the time of screening. Among them, 229 responses were turned out to be useful and used for final analysis. The measurement instrument for hospital nursing service quality evaluation was modified from the SERVQUAL model originated from Parasuraman, Zeithaml, and Berry (1988). For data analysis, SPSS/PC and PC-MDS program were used. The results were as follows : 1) The perception map showed that the seven subjected hospitals were divided into three groups. It could be interpreted that the hospitals in the same group had a strong competitive relationships. Because the nursing services' scores of hospitals C and E were higher than those of other hospitals, they could be served as a benchmark for the other hospitals. 2) The marketing place of hospital nursing services was divided by four. Since service generally had a strong point in nearby service market segment. Aiming an nearby hospital nursing services market segment by the hospital nursing services department was regarded as a good repositioning strategy. 3) When consumers evaluated the quality of hospital nursing services, they were greatly affected by the hospitals' overall image or other characteristics. Therefore, for improving hospital's nursing services, hospital nursing services department requires a great deal of labor to improve hospitals' overall image or other characteristics.
Objectives: Guardians of patients have a great deal of influence on decision-making in the course of care in Korea. The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of nursing service satisfaction on hospital re-use intention in the guardians of patients admitted to comprehensive nursing care units. Methods: The survey was conducted on 151 guardians of patients hospitalized in comprehensive nursing care units of two general hospitals for four months beginning in September 2017. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-tests, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analyses using SPSS/Win 21 software. Results: Nineteen percent of variance in hospital re-use intention was accounted for by reliability (t=3.31, p=.001), empathy (t=2.49, p=.014), and recommendations from others (t=2.49, p=.014). The explanatory power was significant (F=13.06, p<.001). Conclusions: To promote hospital reuse, nurses need to improve the quality of their nursing services. Emphasis should be on reliability and empathy among nursing service components. It is also necessary to consider ways to encourage guardians who used hospitals to recommend them to their acquaintances.
Purpose: This study was performed to measure the nursing service perceived value by consumer and providers, and to investigate the relationship among nursing service, general satisfaction and hospital revisiting intent, and to examinate the tools that measures nursing service's reliability, construct validity and usefulness. Method: The questionnaire was developed and distributed to 300 patients and 210 nurses at three general hospitals. For data analysis, SPSS/PC program was used. Result: The nursing service perceived value by providers is higher than that by consumers. There are distinctive difference in the expectation, and importance and performance values of the nursing service perceived. In examination of the relationship among nursing service, general satisfaction and hospital revisiting intent, nursing service has a deep relationship with general satisfaction, but doesn't have relationship with hospital revisiting intent. The tool that measures nursing service has a good reliability and construct validity. In analysis on the usefulness between the tools, SERVPERF tool is more useful than SERVQUAL tool. conclusion: The nursing service perceived value by consumer is different that by providers, and the tool that measures nursing service has a good reliability and construct validity. The SERVPERF tool is more useful than SERVQUAL tool.
Purpose: This study was conducted to explore the meaning and contents of high-quality aged care facilities and provide basic data for evaluation of service quality in such facilities. Methods: The focus group interviews and participants consisted of two user groups, for a total of 16 family caregivers of the elderly living in facilities and four service provider groups, for a total of 26 chief managers and caregivers working in aged care facilities. All interviews were recorded and transcribed as they occurred. Content analysis was used and debriefing notes were referred to in order to analyze the data. Results: Four themes of a high-quality aged care facility emerged from the analysis; 1) a place to rest for comfortable later years; 2) systematic value-based management; 3) providing professional care; 4) comprehensive service provision in response to diverse needs. Conclusion: The findings of the study showed the importance of client centered care and ethical mindset of providers, which had not been included in the existing quality evaluation programs. Based on these results, medical treatments, end-of-life care and more comprehensive and extended services including family care need to be provided in facilities to ensure good quality aged care.

This study is a descriptive research study to confirm the mediating effect of job engagement on the relationship between the nursing organizational culture and the quality of nursing service perceived by nurses. The research subjects and data were collected from June 1 to June 7, 2022, and 215 nurses working at hospital-level or higher medical institutions recruited through the online community for nurses. As a result of the study, Relation orientated culture(Z=3.88, p<.001) and Task orientated culture(Z=3.16, p=.001) affected the quality of nursing service, and it was found that job engagement fully mediating effect. Hierarchical orientated culture (Z=2.39, p=.017) affected the quality of nursing service, and it was found that job engagement had a partial mediating effect. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of nursing services, it is necessary and to promote work engagement by forming a culture to establish a trust relationship among members based on the order and procedure for safety in nursing sites that require rapid and accurate response in emergency situations and performing tasks efficiently to achieve organizational goals.
Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the papers on nursing in the KJHSM (Korean Journal of Health Service Management) (2007-2018), to identify the research trends and to help the future development of nursing research. Methods: The data collection was carried out from September 1, 2019 to September 30, 2019. The 78 copies of the original text were provided by the KSHSM website, DBpia, and NDSL (National Digital Science Library) electronic database. Results: Forty-seven studies had a non-experimental design, with most having a descriptive research design (89.3%). The most common participants were nurses (55.7%) and nursing college students (26.1%). A questionnaire was the most commonly used research tools (96.2%) and data collection methods (95.0%). The major keywords were the terms included in the environmental domain among the meta-paradigms of nursing (43.6%). Conclusions: In order to expand the quantity and quality of nursing science in the KSHSM, efforts are needed to improve the quality of research participants, research tools, and sampling methods.
