  • Purpose: The study was done to identify the relationship of symptoms of stress, cancer prevention behavior, the quality of life in women, and the factors influencing the quality of life. Method: The subjects of this study were 210 married women. They were living in Gyeonggi Province and Busan Metropolitan City. Symptoms of stress were measured by the Park's Stress Scale. Cancer preventive behavior was measured by Suh's Korean scale, and Smith Kline Beecham Quality of life' Scale by Dunbar. Data was analyzed with the SPSS program by ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and Multiple Regression Analysis. Result: The higher scores of physical stress correlated with lower practice scores of cancer prevention behavior. Psychological and physical stress revealed negative correlations among sub-items of the QOL such as competence, psychological well-being, stability, physical well-being and activity. Multiple regression analysis revealed that the predictor of quality of life in the women was stress. A combination of symptoms of stress and cancer prevention behaviors accounted for 35.3% of the variance in the quality of life in the women. Conclusion: The most important factor influencing the quality of life of women was stress. Thus the study's findings can be useful in directing a comprehensive nursing care plan to improve the QOL of women.

  • Background: This study was planned in an attempt to develop a scale for the quality of life in pediatric oncology patients aged 7-12, with child and parents forms. Materials and Methods: In collecting the study data, we used the Child and Parent Information Form, Visual Quality of Life Scale, Scale for Quality of Life Pediatric Oncology Patients Aged 7-12 and the Scale for the Quality of Life in Pediatric Oncology Patients Aged 7-12 for Parents. We also used Pearson correlation analysis, the Cronbach alpha coefficient, factor analysis and ROC analysis for the study data. Results: In this study, the total Cronbach alpha value of the parent form was 0.96, the total factor load being 0.54-0.90 and the total variance explained was 82.5%. The cutoff point of the parent form was 93 points. The total Cronbach alpha value for the child form was 0.96, with a total factor load of 0.55-0.91 and the total variance being explained was 78.3%. The cutoff point of the child form was 65 points. Conclusions: This study suggests that the Scale for Quality of Life in Pediatric Oncology Patients Aged 7-12 Child and Parents Forms are valid and reliable instruments in assessing the quality of life of children.

  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to assess whether individuals who visit clinics to ask medical help for obesity treatment depict comparable levels of depression, body dissatisfaction, eating psychopathology and lower quality of life. Methods : This is a cross sectional study with 534 females who sought treatment for their obesity or overweight being recruited in seven clinical units in Seoul, Korea. The patients group was divided into two groups. The group 1 consisted of the patients with BMI >$25\;kg/m^2$. The women who showed BMI ${\leq}\;25\;kg/m^2$ among patients recruited for this study were classified as the group 2. The control group (group 3) was composed of 398 healthy females who have never tried to lose weight. Results : We found that group 1 had higher frequency of more than moderate level of depression than group 2 and group3 did. Both patients groups showed greater eating disordered attitudes and behaviors regardless of obese condition than the control group. Group1 showed relatively lower level of quality of life than group2 and group3 in terms of the quality of life related to physical well-being. In addition, the control group reported higher quality of life in psychological health than both patients groups did. Conclusions : In conclusion, it is necessary for clinicians to make a careful evaluation of depressive tendency and eating disorders when obese women seek for medical help. The combination of medical treatment and psychological approach for obese women would result in higher quality of life.

  • Currently, natural aggregates of good quality are hard to use because of continuous decrease of internal aggregate resource and regulation of gathering. So, use of crushed sand was being increased. On the other hand, skyscraper projects with 100 stories are being planned within the country and high strength concrete must be used to construct a skyscraper with 100 stories. High strength concrete is necessary to use crushed sand too because we are still unable to secure natural aggregates of good quality. So, This study indicated basic data necessary for mix design of high strength concrete through valuation of concrete property by quality variation of crushed sand.

  • This study was to investigate casual relation of psychological well-being and quality of life of married couples. For the data set 434 married couples living in Pusan, Korea were chosen. The data were analyzed using M, SD, t-test, Pearson's correlation, multiple regression, and path analysis. The findings of this study are as follows; First, marital satisfaction and the level of quality of life are higher for husbands than wives. Whereas psychological distress is higher for wives than husbands. Second, for husbands, husband's level of education, job satisfaction, husband's housework participation, and job stress have significant effect on marital satisfaction. For wives, wife's level of education, husband's housework participation, and husband's job stress have significant effect on marital satisfaction. Third, for husbands, job satisfaction and job stress have significant effect on psychological distress. For wives, husband's job stress have significant effect on psychological distress. Fourth, for husbands, job stress, marital satisfaction and psychological distress have significant direct effect on quality of life. Besides, husband's age, husband's level of education, job satisfaction, job stress, husband's housework participation, and marital satisfaction are indirectly associated with quality of life. For wives, marital satisfaction and psychological distress have significant direct effect on quality of life. Besides, wife's level of education, husband's job stress, husband's housework participation, and marital satisfaction are indirectly associated with quality of life.

  • Purpose: This study examined factors influencing subjective quality of life in baby boom generation men. Methods: This was a descriptive survey study. Data were collected from 279 baby boom generation men from September to October 2012. The instruments used included a subjective quality of lifescale, a self-esteem scale, a spiritual well-being scale, a communication with spouse scale, a social support scale, and a job satisfaction scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Scheff$\acute{e}$ test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and Hierarchical multiple regression. Results: All variables were positively correlated with subjective quality of life. As a result, factors influencing subjective life of quality were self-esteem (${\beta}$=.21, p<.000), social support (${\beta}$=.20, p<.002), job satisfaction (${\beta}$=.19, p<.001), communication with spouse (${\beta}$=.15, p<.004), spiritual well-being( ${\beta}$=.16, p<.004), and family income (${\beta}$=.15. p<.023). These factors accounted for 61% of the total variances. Conclusion: The findings indicate a need to develop nursing intervention programs for community health nurses in consideration of these variables to improve the subjective quality of life for baby boom generation men.

  • Recently, with the increasing use of power semiconductors and microprocessors which are very sensitive to little change of power quality and for coping positively with anticipating power quality disputes between power providers and consumers which are possible to occur by of power market being formed, the power quality problem has gained preponderance among the contemporary research areas. To serve these purposes, the integrated system has been researched and developed for power quality analysis and monitoring, which provides speedy and powerful functions by the growth of computer hardware and information technology. But the advent of fast and lower price hardware make little difference in an application on many systems. As a result, the key issues of constructing power quality monitoring system are in the management of data obtained, accurate algorithms, graphic representation and user-friendly-environment for easy and clear analysis results. So, in this paper it will be introduced that the standard of user-friendly-GUI(Graphic User Interface) and analysis graphic representation for intuitive understanding of results from power quality analysis based on consideration of several systems currently being in use.
