A DVS System based on Process Monitoring Technique (프로세스 모니터링 기법에 기반한 DVS 시스템)

  • 본 논문에서는 프로세스 모니터링 기법에 기반한 DVS 시스템을 제안한다. 이상적인 DVS 시스템은 응용프로그램의 수정 없이 자동으로 수행되어야 하며 프로세스의 QoS를 고려해야 한다. 본 논문은 이를 위해 본 연구의 이전 논문에서 제시한 Kernel Control Path를 모니터링하여 주기적 프로세스의 QoS관련 정보를 추출할 수 있는 기법을 기반으로 DVS 시스템을 제안한다. 제안한 DVS 시스템은 리눅스 운영체제상에서 실제 구현하였으며 관련 연구와의 비교를 위해 관련연구도 구현하여 실험하였다. 이를 통해 제안한 DVS 시스템이 주기적 프로세스의 QoS를 보장하면서 전력소비를 최소화할 수 있음을 밝힌다.

Optimal Power and Rate Allocation based on QoS for CDMA Mobile Systems (CDMA 이동통신시스템을 위한 QoS 기반 최적 전송출력/전송률 할당 체계)

  • This paper studies power and rate control for data users on the forward link of CDMA system with two cells. The QoS for data users is specified by delay and error rate constraints as well as a family of utility functions representing system throughput and fairness among data users. Optimal power and rate allocation problem is mathematically formulated as a nonlinear programming problem, which is to maximize total utility under delay and error rate constraints, and optimal power and rate allocation scheme (OPRAS) is proposed to obtain a good solution in a fast time. Computational experiments show that the proposed scheme OPRAS works very well and increases total utility compared to the separate power and rate allocation scheme (SPARS) which considers each cell individually.

  • 본 논문에서는 RTP, RTCP, SMIL 등을 이용하여 멀티미디어 데이터 전송시스템을 설RP 및 구현하고 QoS를 네트웍 레벨과 어플리케이션 레벨에서 개선하였다. 클라이언트의 구조적 정보에 의한 요청에 대해 서버는 멀티미디어 데이터를 RTP를 통해 전송하고 RTCP를 통해 수신자 리포트를 받아 QoS 파라미터를 결정하여 QoS를 개선한다. 클라이언트 프리젠테이션에서는 SMIL을 이용하여 각 미디어의 시간적, 공간적 동기화를 이룬다.

Heterogeneous Resource Management for Adaptive Grid System (적응형 그리드 시스템을 위한 이질적인 자원 관리)

  • Real-Time applications on Grid environment have several problems in terms of resource management addressed as follows; (1) dynamic resource allocation to provide QoS objectives, (2) heterogeneous resources that is different scale, or capacity in same unit, and (3) resource availability, and resource needs. This paper describes the techniques of resource manager (RM) handling above problems to support QoS of dynamic real-time applications on Grid. The contributions of this paper to solve problems are as follows: unification of dynamic resource requirements among heterogeneous hosts, control of resources in heterogeneous environments, and dynamic load balancing/sharing. Our heuristic allocation scheme works not only 257% better than random, 142% better than round robin, and 36.4% better than least load in QoS sensitivity, but also 38.6% better than random, 28.5% better than round robin, and 31.6% better than least load in QoS.

  • Because each resource in LTE-Advanced system and network's shapes such as bandwidth, error rate change variably, it is judged that it is impossible to control service continuity with procedural, artificial, and static control method applied to the existing voice service. This research suggests a QoS management mechanism to support the service continuity effectively based on policy control. It means a method in which a subscriber's terminal collects information about its current condition and base station around, and a base station, through the data collected by monitoring inner or adjacent base station, shares related data and converges, controlling service continuity on its own.

  • In this paper, a dynamic TCP-friendly rate control (TFRC) is proposed to adjust the coding rates according to the channel characteristics of the wireless-to-wired network consisting of wireless first-hop channel. To avoid the throughput degradation of multimedia flows traveling through wireless lint the proposed rate control system employs a new wireless loss differentiation algorithm (LDA) using packet loss statistics. This method can produce the TCP-friendly rates while sharing the backbone bandwidth with TCP flows over the wireless-to-wired network. Experimental results show that the proposed rate control system can eliminate the effect of wireless losses in flow control of TFRC and substantially reduce the abrupt quality degradation of the video streaming caused by the unreliable wireless link status.

  • The Internet of Things (IoT) is a new concept associated with the future Internet, and it has recently become a popular concept to build a dynamic, global network infrastructure. However, the deployment of IoT creates difficulties in satisfying different Quality of Service (QoS) requirements and achieving rapid service composition and deployment. In this paper, we propose a new QoS control scheme for IoT systems. The Markov game model is applied in our proposed scheme to effectively allocate IoT resources while maximizing system performance. The results of our study are validated by running a simulation to prove that the proposed scheme can promptly evaluate current IoT situations and select the best action. Thus, our scheme approximates the optimum system performance.

  • New multimedia services over the cellular/WLAN overlay networks require different Quality of Service (QoS). Therefore, efficient network management system is necessary in order to provide QoS sensitive multimedia services while enhancing network performance. In this paper, we propose a new online network management scheme that implements bandwidth reservation, congestion and transmission control strategies. Our online approach to network management exhibits dynamic adaptability, flexibility, and responsiveness to the current traffic conditions in multimedia overlay networks. Simulation results indicate the superior performance of our proposed scheme to strike the appropriate performance balance between contradictory QoS requirements under widely varying diverse traffic loads.

  • In a Video-on-Demand system, admission control that is used to serve multimedia data efficiently has to be perfonned by an accurate grasp of the condition of surplus resources. Most of all. we need to adaptable admission control mechanism because the disk has irregular response time caused by external elements of disk, and also has high deviation of amount demanded. In previous admission control schemes, they determined whether a new user is granted or not through a theoretical value. Although they based on the measurement, they left much to be desired in dealing with the service state. Measurement ~based statistical admission control scheme, as we su~~ested in this research, perfonns 2 processes of off-line process and on-line process in real service environment. Through this processes, we can grasp the accurate resource state of system and adaptive!y detennine the admission according to circumstances. Therefore, it can guarantee both maximum resource utilization and QoS(Quality of Service). On performance evaluations, we show that the video server can utilize maximum resource utilization with QoS guarantee through precision of perfonnance by measurement and adaptable admission control according to the requested bandwidth.
