Purpose: This study was done to identify types of subjective perception of their disease by adolescents who have insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) in order to better understand these adolescents and to determine effective nursing interventions. Method: Q-methodology was used in this study. The 36 Q-statements were selected through a literature review and in-depth interviews with participants. Data were collected from a 33 P-sample by sorting the 36 Q-statements into a 9 point standard. The data were analyzed using the PC QUANL program. Results: Five types of perception were identified: Type 1 being a recipient and having a will to cope with the disease, Type 2, seeking support from others, Type 3, emotional and negative coping, Type 4, pursuing own beliefs but with conflict at the same time, and Type 5 feeling under heavy pressure as their condition made them feel insecure, and they felt sorry to their families. Conclusion: The findings of the study are expected to contribute to improving clinical practices by helping nurses have a broader understanding of adolescents with IDDM, and exploring ideal nursing interventions.
Nursing students who are in clinical practices under the complicated medical environment to become competent practitioners can be exposed to a variety of dangerous situations. In particular, nursing students can experience stress and compromised safety because they have difficulty in prioritizing their tasks and lack confidence in clinical and interpersonal skills. The purpose of this study is to investigate the types and characteristics of nursing students' attitudes toward the safety of clinical practices, and improve their safety related to clinical practices. A total of 40 statements about the safety of clinical practices were applied to 37 nursing students. Collected data were analyzed with the PC QUANL program. The Perception of nursing students to the safety of clinical practices was categorized into three types: 'Pursuit of perfection in overwhelming state type', 'Perseverance Patience type' and 'Cover up-meeting expectation type'. The subjects related to the safety of clinical practices need to be developed within the curriculum of nursing departments by examining the Perception of nursing students to the safety of clinical practices. In addition, a sense of responsibility shared by nursing students, educators and practitioners needs to be enhanced to improve the safety of clinical practices.

Method: The Q-methodology which provides a method for analyzing the subjectivity of each items was used. The 34 selected Q-statements sorted by each of the 36 participants were classified into a normal distribution by using a 9 point scale. The collected data were analyzed using the QUANL PC program. Results: Four types of content related to death nursing curriculum were identified. Type I is the psychologically sympathetic type, Type II is the clinical based experience type, Type III is the physically comfort seeking type, and Type IV is the human-understanding oriented type. Conclusion: The results of this study show that different approaches to education are needed to address the four types of content related to death as a nursing curriculum subject. Both contents and characteristics need to be considered.

Nursing homes are good facilities for old people with dementia to improve their quality of life. On the other hand, the subjectivity toward nursing homes can vary to greater or lesser degrees. The purpose of this study was to identify the subjective attitudes and viewpoints toward nursing homes in undergraduate nursing students. Methods: The Q methodology, which is a research method to study the people's subjectivity, was used. The 40 Q-statements selected from each of 43 participants were classified into the shape of a normal distribution. The data collected were analyzed using the QUANL program. Results: Three types of subjectivity toward nursing homes emerged: 'Type I, in terms of usage of nursing homes-hesitative perspectives;', 'Type II, in terms of running of nursing homes-progressive perspectives;', and 'Type III, in terms of admission to nursing homes-constructive perspectives'. Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that nursing intervention programs should be developed for the three types. The study results will lead to further research.

Methods: Q-methodology focusing on individual subjectivity was used with data collected in November 2016. Thirty-four Q-statements were selected and scored by the 35 participants on a 9-point scale with normal distribution. Participants were perioperative nurses working in advanced general hospitals and general hospitals. The data were analyzed using the PC-QUANL program. Results: A total of 35 perioperative nurses were classified into 4 factors based on the following viewpoints: self-centered (type 1), onlooking and avoiding (type 2), patient-centered (type 3), and problem-centered (type 4). The 4 factors accounted for 57.84% of the total variance. Individual contributions of factors 1, 2, 3, and 4 were 41.80%, 7.18%, 5.20%, and 3.66%, respectively. Conclusion: The major contribution of this study is the clarification of perioperative nurses' subjective perceptions of ethical issues. This study was attempted to contribute to enhancing the quality of practical education by using Q-methodology to find out how nursing students cope with a mistake during clinical practice. From October 3rd to 26th, 2016, 30 Q-statements were selected through in-depth interviews and prior papers to identify response patterns for mistakes in the 3rd to 4th grade of the Department of Nursing at K University. The analysis using the QUANL program has four types. the first type was named the frankness type, the second type was named the forwardness type, the third type was named the evasion type, the fourth type was named the anxiousness type. In this paper we proposed that the practical guidance instructor and the field instructor need to understand the individual recognition style of each student and to develop coping strategies considering the individuality and to cooperate with education and guidance. In addition, in order to establish a positive cognitive formation and coping method in case of a mistake, it is necessary to educate management about mistakes in systematic nursing student clinical practice.

Participants were 30 nursing unit managers who had experience managing workplace bullying and they classified the Q samples into a normal distribution frame measured on a nine-point scale. The data were analyzed using the PC-QUANL program. Results: Five types of response patterns were identified: (1) sympathetic-understanding acceleration, (2) harmonious-team approach, (3) preventive-organizational management, (4) passive observation, and (5) leading-active intervention. The preventive-organizational management type was most frequently used by the nursing unit managers. Conclusion: The results of this study indicated that nursing unit managers attempted to prevent and solve workplace bullying in various ways. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and conduct leadership training and intervention programs that appropriately address the response patterns of nursing unit managers, such as those identified in this study.
