The autocorrelation function structures of bilinear time series model BL(p, q, r, s), $r \geq s$ are obtained and shown to be analogous to those of ARMA(p, l), l=max(q, s). Simulation studies are performed to investigate the adequacy of Akaike information criteria for identification between ARMA(p, l) and BL(p, q, r, s) models and for determination of orders of BL(p, q, r, s) models. It is suggested that the model of having minimum Akaike information criteria is selected for a suitable model.

In this paper, a new approximated MAP algorithm for soft bit decision from QAM symbols is proposed for Gray Coded QAM signals, based on the Max-Log-MAP and a Gray coded QAM signal can be separated into independent two Gray coded PAM signal, M-PAM on I axis with M symbols and N-PAM on Q axis with N symbols. The Max-Log-MAP used distance comparisons between symbols to get the soft bit decision instead of mathematical exponential or logarithm functions. But in accordance with the increase of the number of symbols, the number of comparisons also increase with high complexity. The proposed algorithm is used with the Euclidean distance and constituted with plain arithmetic functions, thus we can know intuitively that the algorithm has low implementing complexity comparing to conventional ones.
During the last decade, several papers have focused on linear q-difference equations of the form ${\sum}^n_{j=0}a_j(z)f(q^jz)=a_{n+1}(z)$ with entire or meromorphic coefficients. A tool for studying these equations is a q-difference analogue of the lemma on the logarithmic derivative, valid for meromorphic functions of finite logarithmic order ${\rho}_{log}$. It is shown, under certain assumptions, that ${\rho}_{log}(f)$ = max${{\rho}_{log}(a_j)}$ + 1. Moreover, it is illustrated that a q-Casorati determinant plays a similar role in the theory of linear q-difference equations as a Wronskian determinant in the theory of linear differential equations. As a consequence of the main results, it follows that the q-gamma function and the q-exponential functions all have logarithmic order two.

Optimal conditions for the production of natural color, betacyanin were investigated by varying light intensity, C/N ratio, concentrations of phosphate and kinds of elicitors. Batch cultivation was employed to characterize cell growth and betacyanin production of 32 days. The maximum specific growth rate, ${\mu}$$\sub$max/, was 0.3 (1/day) for batch cultivation. The maximum specific production rate, q$\^$max/$\sub$p/, was enhanced 0.11 (mg/g-cell/day) at 3 klux. A light intensity of 3 klux was shown to the best for both cell growth and betacyanin production. The maximum specific production rate was 0.125 (mg/g-cell/day) at 0.242 (1/day), the maximum specific growth rate. The dependence of specific growth rate on the light lintensity is fit to the photoinhibition model. The correlation between ${\mu}$ and q$\sub$p/ showed that the product formation parameters, ${\alpha}$ and ${\beta}$$\sub$p/ were 0.3756 (mg/cell) and 0.001 (mg/g-cell/day), respectively. The betacyanin production was partially cell growth related process, which is different from the production of a typical product in plant cell cultures. In C/N ratio experiment, high carbon concentration, 42.1 (w/w) improved cell growth rate while lower concentration, 31.6 (w/w) increased the betacyanin production rate. The ${\mu}$$\sub$max/ and q$\^$max/$\sub$p/ were 0.26 (1/day) and 0.075 (mg/g-cell/day), respectively. Beta vulgaris L. cells under 1.25 mM phosphate concentration produced 10.15 mg/L betacyanin with 13.46 (g-dry wt./L) of maximum cell density. The production of betacyanin was elongated by adding 0.1 ${\mu}$M of kinetin. This also increased the cell growth. Optimum culture conditions of light intensity, C/N, phosphate concentration were obtained as 5.5 klux, 27 (w/w), 1.25 mM, respectively by the response surface methodology. The maximum cell density, X$\sub$max/, and maximum production, P$\sub$max/, in optimized conditions were 16 (g-dry wt./L), 12.5 (mg/L) which were higher than 8 (g-dry wt./L), 4.48 (mg/L) in normal conditions. The ${\mu}$$\sub$max/ and q$\^$max/$\sub$p/ were 0.376 (1/day) and 0.134 (mg/g-cell/day) at the optimal condition. The overall results may be useful in scaling up hairy root cell culture system for commercial production of betacyanin.
The baseline selection is the first and important step to analyze magnetocardiography (MCG) parameters. There are no difficulties to select the baseline between P- and Q-wave peak (P-Q interval) of MCG wave recorded from healthy subjects because the P-Q intervals of the healthy subjects do not much vary. However, patients with ischemic heart disease often show an unstable P-Q interval which does not seem to be appropriate for the baseline. In this case, T-P interval is alternatively recommended for the baseline. However, there has been no study on the difference made by the baseline selection. In this study, we studied the effect of the different baseline selection. MCG data were analyzed from twenty healthy subjects and twenty one patients whose baselines were alternatively selected in the T-P interval for their inappropriate P-Q interval. Paired T-test was used to compare two set of data. Fifteen parameters derived from the R-wave peak, the T-wave peak, and the period, $T_{max/3}{\sim}T_{max}$ were compared for the different baseline selection. As a result, most parameters did not show significant differences (p>0.05) except few parameters. Therefore, there will be no significant differences if anyone of two intervals were selected for the MCG baseline. However, for the consistent analysis, P-Q interval is strongly recommended for the baseline correction.
Recently power cable used generally in Korea, because installation is very simple and it has high stability. It confirms to the requirements of IEEE std. 404-1993 by factory testing, but many problems of insulated cable systems are caused by internal defects of the joint part which have to be mounted ensile. Especially, fault rates are arise from impurities or voids. A suitable solution for a monitoring of power cable during the after-laying test and service is partial discharge detection. The artificial defects between cable joint(EPR) and insulator(XLPE) interface are considered in this research to investigating the partial discharge characteristics. ${\varphi}$-q-n properties were detected using data acquisition system and Maximum charge($q_{max}$), repetition rate(${\={n}$), average charge(${\={q}$), Unbalance rate of ${\={n}$ and ${\={q}$ are calculated in order to analysis partial discharge properties quantitatively from this statistic value.
The heat transfer experiment in a latent heat storage tank as a solar energy storage system for the hot water supply was carried out. The latent heat storage tank was consisted of triple - tube type ; Outer shell for hot water from solar collector, PCM storage vessel in the middle of the tank and inside tube for hot water recovery. The heat storage tank has the dimension of 60 cm long and 34 cm outside diameter. Paraffin wax(m.p = 55.4C) and sodium acetate trihydrate(m.p = 58 C) were employed as the PCM this study. Experimental variables were inlet temperature and flow rate of the hot water for heat storage stage and cold water for heat recovery stage. Temperature profiles, heat transfer coefficient and the efficiency of heat storage$(Q/Q_{max})$ and heat recovery $(Q/Q_{max})$ were determined for the paraffin wax and inorganic salt respectively.

Micro speakers are used to reproduce sound in small electric and information and communications devices, such as cellular phones, PMPs, and MP3 players. The acoustical properties and sound quality, which are changed due to the decreased size of the speaker, are often adjusted varying the type and thickness of the diaphragm. The most widely used diaphragm material is thin polymer. It was previously reported by the author of this paper that the resonance frequency of a micro speaker is changed by the type and thickness of a polymer diaphragm. In this paper, the frequency response near the resonance frequency of a micro speaker was studied as functions of the type and thickness of the polymer diaphragm. While $R_{max}$ and $R_{DC}$ were affected by the type and thickness, an analysis of the electrical impedance curve revealed that $R_o(= R_{max}/R_{DC})$ and ${\Delta}f$ were not changed. Thus, $Q_{TS}$ which was function of $R_o$, ${\Delta}f$, and the resonance frequency, is only related to the resonance frequency. The increase of the resonance frequency led to a proportional rise of $Q_{TS}$. The change of the frequency response near the resonance frequency was not dependent on the type or thickness of the polymer diaphragm, but was affected by the resonance frequency.

This paper illustrates the analysis and design of a multi-resonant converter applied to an electric vehicle (EV) charger. Thanks to the notch resonant characteristic, the multi-resonant converter achieve soft switching and operate with a narrowed switching frequency range even with a wide output voltage range. These advantages make it suitable for battery charging applications. With two more resonant elements, the design of the chosen converter is more complex than the conventional LLC resonant converter. However, there is not a distinct design outline for the multi-resonant converters in existing articles. According to the analysis in this paper, the normalized notch frequency $f_{r2n}$ and the second series resonant frequency $f_{r3n}$ are more sensitive to the notch capacitor ratio q than the notch inductor ratio k. Then resonant capacitors should be well-designed before the other resonant elements. The peak gain of the converter depends mainly on the magnetizing inductor ratio $L_n$ and the normalized load Q. And it requires a smaller $L_n$ and Q to provide a sufficient voltage gain $M_{max}$ at ($V_{o\_max}$, $P_{o\_max}$). However, the primary current increases with $(L_nQ)^{-1}$, and results in a low efficiency. Then a detailed design procedure for the multi-resonant converter has been provided. A 3.3kW prototype with an output voltage range of 50V to 500V dc and a peak efficiency of 97.3 % is built to verify the design and effectiveness of the converter.
