Microwave Dielectric Absorption Spectroscopy Aiming at Novel Dosimetry Using DNAs

  • Background: We are developing L-band and S-band microwave dielectric absorption systems aiming novel dosimetry using DNAs, such as plasmid DNA and genomic DNA, and microwave technology. Materials and Methods: Each system is composed of a cavity resonator, analog signal generator, circulator, power meter, and oscilloscope. Since the cavity resonator is sensitive to temperature change, we have made great efforts to prevent the fluctuation of temperature. We have developed software for controlling and measurement. Results and Discussion: By using this system, we can measure the resonance frequency, f, and ${\Delta}Q$ (Q is a dimensionless parameter that describes how under-damped an oscillator or resonator is, and characterizes a resonator's bandwidth relative to its center frequency) within about 3 minutes with high accuracy. Conclusion: This system will be expected to be applicable to DNAs evaluations and to novel dosimetric system.

  • A semigroup S is called a weakly abundant semigroup if its every $\tilde{\mathcal{L}}$-class and every $\tilde{\mathcal{R}}$-class contains an idempotent. Our purpose is to study an analogue of orthodox semigroups in the class of weakly abundant semigroups. Such an analogue is called a left quasi-abundant semigroup, which is a weakly abundant semigroup with a left quasi-normal band of idempotents and having the congruence condition (C). To build our main structure theorem for left quasi-abundant semigroups, we first give a sufficient and necessary condition of the idempotent set E(S) of a weakly abundant semigroup S being a left quasi-normal band. And then we construct a left quasi-abundant semigroup in terms of weak spined products. Such a result is a generalisation of that of Guo and Shum for left semi-perfect abundant semigroups. In addition, we consider a type Q semigroup which is a left quasi-abundant semigroup having the PC condition.

  • 울진 1,2호기 RSTR 수행 시 울진 1,2호기 기존의 $\Delta$I Band를 해석하기 위해 RAOC방법을 적용 사고 해석을 수행하였다. 먼저 Xenon reconstruction model을 사용 축 방향 Xenon 분포를 생산한 다음, 정상 운전 상태와Condition ll상태에서 생산된 xenon 분포에 의한 축 방향 출력 분포를 사용 $F_{Q}$와 DNBR을 계산, Design Limit와 비교 만족하는 새로운 $\Delta$I band를 결정하였다. 새로운 band는 기존의 Design Limit의 변화를 주지 않으면서 울진 발전소 기존의 $\Delta$I band를 포함하면서 운전상의 유연성 창상을 기하게 되었다.$\Delta$I band를 포함하면서 운전상의 유연성 창상을 기하게 되었다.다.

  • In this paper, Ka-band transceiver for road watch radar system is designed and fabricated. The transceiver for road watch radar system is composed of waveform generator, frequency generator. IF transceiver and RF up/down converter. The transceiver especially has 3 different waveform mode for target detection range. The transceiver had over 150 MHz bandwidth in Ka-band and 22 dBm output power. The receiver gain and noise figure was 30 dB and 4 dB respectively. The receive dynamic range was 65.28dB and amplitude imbalance and phase imbalance of I/Q channel was 0.3 dB and 1.8 degree respectively. The transceiver meets the required electrical performances through the individual tests.

  • In this paper, we describe the designed digital waveform of a linear frequency-modulated (FM) chirp signal using field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) for image radar, and this signal is modulated with an I-Q modulator, and multiplied by 24 frequency multipliers to obtain a 94-GHz W-band wideband chirp generator. The developed chirp generator is an FM signal with a 94-GHz carrier frequency and a 960-MHz bandwidth, and the flatness is less than 1.0 dB at intermediate frequency (IF) (3.9 GHz), 2.0 dB in the W-band, and it has a 0.3-W output power in the W-band.

  • The six-port phase correlator using lumped elements was designed and fabricated in this paper, also the receiving performance of L-band direct conversion receiver using lumped six-port phase correlator element was analyzed. The proposed L-band lumped six-port phase correlator element was composed of a resistive power divider and the twist-wire coaxial cables. The proposed lumped six-port structure provides the small-sized configuration and wide-band characteristics. The performance of the L-band lumped direct conversion receiver structure was measured under the conditions of 1.69 GHz frequency for LO-CW signal and RF-QPSK signal, which are input signals for the lumped six-port phase correlator element. The direct conversion receiving structure using the proposed lumped six-port phase correlator element can recovered the good digital I/Q signal.

  • We suggest Q-band MEMS MIMIC (Millimeter wave Monolithic Integrated Circuit) HEMT Oscillator using DAML (Dielectric-supported Airgapped Mcrostrip Line) structure. We elevated the signal lines from the substrate using dielectric post, in order to reduce the substrate dielectric loss and obtain low losses at millimeter-wave frequency. These DAML are composed with heist of $10\;{\mu}m$ and post size with $20\;{\mu}m\;{\times}\;20\;{\mu}m$. The MEMS oscillator was successfully integrated by the process of $0.1\;{\mu}m$ GaAs PHEMTs, CPW transmission line and DAML. The phase noise characteristic of the MEMS oscillator was improved more than 7.5 dBc/Hz at a 1 MHz offset frequency than that of the CPW oscillator And the high output power of 7.5 dBm was measured at 34.4 GHz.

High Conversion Gain Q-band Active Sub-harmonic Mixer Using GaAs PHEMT

  • In this paper, we have designed and fabricated high conversion gain Q-band active sub-harmonic mixers for a receiver of millimeter wave wireless communication systems. The fabricated active sub-harmonic mixer uses 2nd harmonic signals of a low local oscillator (LO) frequency. The fabricated mixer was successfully integrated by using $0.1{\;}\mu\textrm{m}$GaAs pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistors (PHEMTs) and coplanar waveguide (CPW) structures. From the measurement, it shows that maximum conversion gain of 4.8 dB has obtained at a RF frequency of 40 GHz for 10 dBm LO power of 17.5 GHz. Conversion gain from the fabricated sub-harmonic mixer is one of the best reported thus far. And a phase noise of the 2nd harmonic was obtained -90.23 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offset. The active sub-harmonic mixer also ensure a high degree of isolations, which are -35.8 dB from LO-to-IF and -40.5 dB from LO-to-RF, respectively, at a LO frequency of 17.5 GHz.

  • The modulation quality of the I/Q modulator in a wireless transmitter usually affects system performance and it mostly depends on both a nonlinearity and a distortion, from the third order intermodulation(IM3) signal and the imperfection features such as an input amplitude error and a local phase error, respectively. This paper focused on how much the Single Sideband Ratio(SSR), which indicates the signal distortion, changes according to the variation of the imperfection features. Since a desired signal, side band and IM3 signals at the I/Q modulator output are also represented with those power series coefficients and the imperfection features, the effects of the imperfection features on SSR can be clearly analyzed.

  • A new design approach for realising low-power low-voltage high-Q high-order RE bandpass filter is proposed. Based on the gyrator-C inductor topology, a 2$\^$nd/-order biquadratic bandpass filter can be realised by adding a series capacitor to the input port of the gyrator. High-Q 2$\^$nd/-order and 4$\^$th/-order fully differential RF bandpass filters operating in the 2.4-㎓ ISM (Industrial, scientific and medical) frequency band under a 2-V single power supply voltage with low power dissipation are reported.
