CAS500-1 and CAS500-2 are high-resolution Earth-observing satellites being developed and scheduled to launch for land monitoring of Korea. The satellite information will be used for land usage analysis, change detection, 3D topological monitoring, and so on. Satellite image data of region of interests must be acquired in the stereo mode from different positions for 3D information generation. Accurate 3D processing and 3D display of stereo satellite data requires the epipolar image resampling process considering the pushbroom sensor and the satellite trajectory. This study developed an epipolar image resampling module for CAS-500 stereo data processing and verified its accuracy performance by testing along-track, across-track, and heterogeneous stereo data.
In this paper, an epipolar model without the ephemeris data is proposed. Also, various epipolar models such as the epipolar geometry of perspective sensor, the one proposed by Gupta and Hartley and the one based on the Orun and Natarajan's sensor model are reviewed and their accuracy are quantitatively analyzed using devised measure. Modeling data from ground control points, ground control points, ephemeris data and independent checking points are selected on SPOT over Taejon and Boryung area and KOMPSAT over Taejon and Nonsan area. Based on the results, the epipolar model of perspective sensor and the one by Gupta and Hartley have the average accuracy within 1 pixel but show high errors in several checking points. The proposed epipolarity model provides better results than that of perspective sensor and by Gupta and Hartley. Also, it shows the accuracy similar to the one based on Orun and Natarajan's sensor model.

The KOMPSAT-2 MSC(Multi-Spectral Camera), with high spatial resolution, is currently under development and will be launched in the end of 2004. A sensor model relates a 3-D ground position to the corresponding 2-D image position and describes the imaging geometry that is necessary to reconstruct the physical imaging process. The Rational Function Model (RFM) has been considered as a generic sensor model. form. The RFM is technically applicable to all types of sensors such as frame, pushbroom, whiskbroom and SAR etc. With the increasing availability of the new generation imaging sensors, accurate and fast rectification of digital imagery using a generic sensor model becomes of great interest to the user community. This paper describes the procedure to generation of the RPC (Rational Polynomial Coefficients) for KOMPSAT-2 MSC.
Physical sensor model in pushbroom satellite images can be made from sensor modeling by rotation parameters and attitude parameters on the satellite track. These parameters are determined by the information obtained from GPS, INS, or star tracker. Provided from satellite image, an auxiliary data error is connected directly with an error of rotation parameters and attitude parameters. This paper analyzed how obtaining satellite images influenced errors of rotation parameters and attitude parameters. furthermore, for detailed analysis, this paper generated simulated satellite image, which was changed variously by rotation parameters and attitude parameters of satellite sensor model. Simulated satellite image is generated by using high-resolution digital aerial image and DEM (Digital Elevation Model) data. Moreover, this paper determined correlation of rotation parameter and attitude parameters through error analysis of simulated satellite image that was generated by various rotation parameters and attitude parameters.
This study investigated the use of airborne image data to provide estimates of within -field variability in soil properties and crop growth as an alternative to extensive field data collection. Hyperspectral and multispectral images were acquired in 2000, 2001, and 2002 for central Missouri experimental fields. Data were converted to reflectance using chemically-treated reference tarps with known reflectance levels. Geometric distortion of the hyperspectral pushbroom sensor images was corrected with a rubber sheeting transformation. Statistical analyses were used to relate image data to field-measured soil properties and crop characteristics. Results showed that this approach has potential; however, it is important to address a number of implementation issues to insure quality data and accurate interpretations.
This paper investigates stereo 3D viewing for linear pushbroom satellite images using the Orbit-Attitude Model proposed by Kim (2006) and using OpenGL graphic library in Digital Photogrammetry Workstation. 3D viewing is tested with KOMPSAT-2 satellite stereo images, a large number of GCPs (Ground control points) collected by GPS surveying and orbit-attitude sensor model as a rigorous sensor model. Comparison is carried out by two accuracy measurements: the accuracy of orbit-attitude modeling with bundle adjustment and accuracy analysis of errors in x and y parallaxes. This research result will help to understand the nature of 3D objects for high resolution satellite images, and we will be able to measure accurate 3D object space coordinates in virtual or real 3D environment.

The rational polynomial coefficients(RPC) model is a generalized sensor model that is used as an alternative for the physical sensor model for IKONOS-2 and QuickBird. As the number of sensors increases along with greater complexity, and as the need for standard sensor model has become important, the applicability of the RPC model is also increasing. The RPC model can be substituted for all sensor models, such as the projective camera the linear pushbroom sensor and the SAR This paper is aimed at generating a RPC model from the physical sensor model of the KOMPSAT-1(Korean Multi-Purpose Satellite) and aerial photography. The KOMPSAT-1 collects $510{\sim}730nm$ panchromatic images with a ground sample distance (GSD) of 6.6m and a swath width of 17 km by pushbroom scanning. We generated the RPC from a physical sensor model of KOMPSAT-1 and aerial photography. The iterative least square solution based on Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm is used to estimate the RPC. In addition, data normalization and regularization are applied to improve the accuracy and minimize noise. And the accuracy of the test was evaluated based on the 2-D image coordinates. From this test, we were able to find that the RPC model is suitable for both KOMPSAT-1 and aerial photography.

As high-resolution satellite images have enabled large scale topographic mapping and monitoring on global scale with short revisit time, agile sensor orientation, and large swath width, many countries make effort to secure the satellite image information. In Korea, KOMPSAT-2 (KOrea Multi-Purpose SATellite-2) was launched in July 28 2006 with high specification. These satellites have stereo image acquisition capability for 3D mapping and monitoring. To efficiently handle stereo images such as stereo display and monitoring, the accurate epipolar image generation process is prerequisite. However, the process was highly limited due to complexity in epipolar geometry of pushbroom sensor. Recently, the piecewise approach to generate epipolar images using RPC was developed and tested for in-track IKONOS stereo images. In this paper, the piecewise approach was tested for KOMPSAT-2 across-track stereo images to see how accurately KOMPSAT-2 epipolar images can be generated for 3D geospatial applications. In the experiment, two across-track stereo sets from three KOMPSAT-2 images of different dates were tested using RPC as the sensor model. The test results showed that one-pixel level of y-parallax was achieved for manually measured tie points.

In this study, using X-ray cargo container scanning device and to differentiate the concept of three-dimensional information extraction applied for X-ray scanning device as an ingredient in the rotation of the X-Ray Linear Pushbroom Stereo System by introducing the geometric How to model was introduced. Three-dimensional information obtained through the matching of a single voxel space filled with a random vector operations for each voxel in the three dimensional shape reconstruction algorithm using the definition, and in time, the time required for each step were analyzed. Using OpenCV in each step by applying parallelization techniques approximately 1.8 times improvement in the processing time of the check, but do not meet the target within one minute levels. The other hand, X-ray images by the primary process to convert the point View the results of real-time stereo through a three-dimensional could feel the comfort level.
An algorithm developed for the precision correction of high resolution satellite images is introduced in this paper. In general, the polynomial warping algorithm which derives polynomial equations between GCPs extracted from an image and a base map requires many GCPs well-distributed over the image. The precision correction algorithm described in this paper is based on a sensor-orbit-Earth geometry, and therefore, it is capable of correcting a raw image using only 2-3 GCPs. This algorithm estimates the errors on the orbit determination and the attitude of the satellite by using a Kalman filter. This algorithm was implemented, tested and integrated into the KITSAT-3 image preprocessing software.
