Effect of Healthy School Tuck Shop on Snack Preference and Food Purchasing Behavior in Adolescents (건강매점 운영에 따른 청소년의 간식 섭취에 대한 인식 및 간식 구매 행태)

  • Adolescence is the most important period of healthy development. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the food recognition, snack preference, and dietary behavior of 1st grade of middle and high school boys and girls. Subjects were 5,554 students from 16 schools with healthy tuck shop and 3,406 students from 9 schools without healthy tuck shop in Seoul, Korea. Students from schools with healthy tuck shop are significantly higher than control group for facility satisfaction and hygiene satisfaction (all p<0.05). For fruit, the preference (p<0.05) and recognition (attitude, p<0.001: intention, p<0.05: eating habit, p<0.001: social-environment, p<0.001: self-efficacy, p<0.001) of students in schools with healthy tuck shop are significantly higher than those in schools without healthy tuck shop. For the habit of checking the manufacturer, students in schools with healthy tuck shop were significantly higher than students in schools without healthy tuck shop (p<0.05). The result suggested that we have to create an environment in which fruits can be purchased easily at a tuck shop and to educate adolescents for the importance of healthy food purchasing behavior. In conclusion, healthy school tuck shop had a positive effect on accessibility to healthy food.

A Survey on Preference and Satisfaction of the Customers Purchasing Ready-to-Eat Foods (즉석섭취식품 소비자의 구매선호도와 만족도 조사)

  • This study was executed in order to analyze the purchasing practices, preferences, and satisfaction of consumers purchasing ready-to-eat foods. The study was executed from the $20\;May{\sim}30\;June$ 2007 in the Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do area. Questionnaires were distributed among 480 people. Of these, 410 questionnaires were collected and applied to a statistical analysis. Statistical analyses were conducted using the SPSS package program (version 14.0 for windows). The results of the statistical analyses were as follows. 42.4% males and 57.6% females participated in this study. The biggest motivation behind the purchase of ready-to-eat foods was convenience, 51.0%. The most common venues where these foods were purchased were supermarkets or discount marts, 67.6%. The ratio of substituting ready-to-eat foods for meals was 70.5%. The consumption practices of ready-to-eat foods of the consumers according to purchase place illustrated significant differences in the average expense per person each time (p<0.01), co-consumer (p<0.001), and age (p<0.05). The purchase preference was high with kimbaps (73.4%), hamburgers (29.8%), sushis (29.0%), and sandwiches (27.9%). Unmarried individuals showed a significantly higher overall liking and satisfaction for ready-to-eat foods than married individuals (p<0.001). Individuals living without a family was significantly higher overall liking and satisfaction than individuals living with a family (p<0.05). Individuals who spent an average of 10,000 won per time showed a significantly higher overall liking and satisfaction than those who spent below 10,000 won per time (p<0.05). In the presence of a friend as a co-consumer of ready-to-eat foods, satisfaction was significantly high (p<0.01). Consumers who purchased ready-to-eat foods at meal times, showed a significantly higher overall liking, compared to those who purchased such food products in between meal times (p<0.01). The preference and satisfaction degree of the consumer must be reflected by product development, quality improvement and marketing plan establishment.

  • The purpose of this study was to characterize the attitudes of Net generation customers toward purchasing fashion products or apparels through Cyber communication media. This study targeted 333 individuals aged from 14 to 24 purchasing fashion apparels through the Interned or PC communication. The data were analyzed by using frequency analysis, factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA by SASS package. The results of this study are as follows : 1. Fashion life-style of Net generation is classified into four groups - Fashion attached type, Web entertainment type, Web information type, Web media purchasing type. Net-Generation shows a little preference for brand. 2. As a result of the statistical analysis of each group's demographic variables, price is not so important when purchasing and according to the analysis of age, it proves that twenties are trendier than teenagers. 3. The most significant factor of information search is watching others' clothes and the most popular place for purchase is wholesale mall. Net-Generation has a little intention to purchase through Cyber communication media.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare motives and tendency of purchasing jewelry between the forties and more than the fifties in middle-aged wives. The data was collected from 460 middle-aged wives living in Busan, from April 1 to May 31 in 2000. The results were as follows:Attitudes toward purchasing showed past-positive, thrifty attitude. Pursuit of beauty had the highest score among the various buying motives. Deficiency of stock and stock dissatisfaction ranked the second. Wives who are more than the fifties showed higher score in motives and preference of buying jewelry than wives in the forties.

A Study on Purchasing Current Status and Promotion Facts for Commercial Kimchi of Women in Seoul Area (서울지역 여성의 시판 김치 구입현황과 구매촉진에 관한 연구)

  • This study was to investigate purchase of women for commercial kimchi. Survey was carried out by questionnaire method that is target on 322 female over 20 age in Seoul area. The results of the study was that the way they get kimchi of women answered that they make it by themselves(63.3%). The reason of purchasing is they do not have enough time to make it at their home(43.8%) and its good taste(56.8%) result in their purchase. In the degree of preference about package material, prefer polyethylene(39.6%). Also respondents prefer purchasing poggi kimchi(63.4%) among other different types of kimchi. The promotion facts of purchasing commercial kimchi shows a high score in cold chain system package and specific kimchi development.

Comparative Analysis of Purchasing Motives, Fitting Satisfaction, and Mending Behaviors of School Uniform among Middle and High School Students (중.고등학생의 대기업과 중소기업 교복에 대한 구매동기, 치수만족도, 수선행동 비교)

  • The purpose of this study were to compare school uniforms made in major and minor companies. Especially, purchasing motives, fitting satisfaction, and mending behaviors of school uniform were compared by middle and high school students. The most evident difference was exhibited in purchasing motive. Brand preference was the most important criterion in purchasing motive from a major company, while good pricing was the most important criterion in purchasing motive from a minor company. Apart from purchasing motive, purchasing behaviors such as fitting satisfaction, mending and mended part of school uniforms were not significantly different in relation to sex, grade, and type of company. These results indicate that major companies should consider lowering their prices and also adopt a high quality strategy for school uniform production. Minor companies need to identify areas of differentiation between themselves and larger companies, and produce niche market products that are for appealing to teenagers with a tendency to orient towards brands instead of quality. Furthermore, mature teenagers as consumers of school uniforms are receptive towards competition for reasonable price.

A Study on Fashion Product Purchasing Behavior in Social Commerce (소셜커머스에서 패션제품 구매행동에 관한 연구)

  • In social commerce, consumers can buy products at much cheaper price if the required minimum number of buyers are made. Social commerce has showed rapid growth as an innovative distribution system receiving highlights, however it is true that it hasn't been sufficiently studied. The purpose of the study for presents the direction of growth of the fashion industry with social commerce through qualitative studies. This study is to make a preference group of four people and a non-preference group of four people of social commerce users for the fashion items sold social commerce market and lastly proposes some improvements. The 'preference group' showed high familiarity and preference to social commerce; and they had the tendency of the pursuit of convenience and voluptuous shopping. The revisit of 'non-preference group' preferred open market and, had the tendency of economical shopping and, they are favorable to other categories of social commerce. The reasons of preference were that accessibility was good in fashion products purchasing behaviors in social commerce and, it was convenient and, price was good and new information on cheap and good products were provided; the reasons of non-preference were that the quality of the products and genuineness of articles are doubtful or, the price is not the lowest or, the carried over products were majority. In the perspective of the fashion products in social commerce they answered that it would be brighter but improvements are needed such as supplying exact information, the lowest price, diversified products and the subdivision of category.

Design Preference & Consumer Trend of Younger Children's Parents for Smart Animal Toy (영유아 부모의 동물형 스마트 토이 디자인 선호도 및 구매요인)

  • The purpose of this study was firstly, to explore the design preference, consumer experience and purchasing factors of parents for smart animal toys and secondly, investigate whether there is a difference by children's sex and age. For this purpose, the questionnaire survey was conducted with 344 parents of younger children in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. As a result, the white or brown colored 20~30cm, dog-type smart toy was preferred and the sound was considered as the most important function. Besides role of toy, smart toy was expected to play as a pet, a friend and a younger sibling. Actually, dog-type smart toy were most frequently purchased. And main satisfied causes were fun, interactivity and design and dissatisfied causes were noise, price, battery life and durability of purchased smart toys. Finally, the important factors in purchasing smart toy were the safety, durability, battery life, sustainable play, education and washability. The parents' preference, customer experience and purchasing factors showed little significant differences according to the sex and the age of the children. This research will be useful in understanding parents purchasing activity of smart animal toys and provide valuable data for function construction, design and service planning necessary to develop the smart animal toy.

Preference of Neck-tie Pattern Designs according to Male Consumers' Fashion Life Style (남성소비자들의 패션라이프스타일에 따른 넥타이 문양디자인 선호)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the preference and purchasing intention on necktie pattern designs according to male consumers' fashion lift style. Written questionnaires were handed out to 300 male consumers of the 20-40 years old in Seoul and surroundings, who were accessed by a convenience sampling method. The questionnaires were to classify male consumer groups according to the fashion life style, to examine characteristics, needs and wants of each group. The stimuli of 8 kinds of necktie patterns in black & white, and the semantic differential scale were applied to evaluate the preference and purchasing intention on necktie pattern design. A total of 265 samples were analyzed by factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, crosstabs and $X^2$-test through SPSS package program. Six factors in their fashion life style were extracted as follows: those were 'fashion-oriented', 'traditional conservative', 'brand-flaunting', 'personality-oriented', 'practicality-oriented' and 'unconcerned' life style. With these life style sub-dimensions, male consumers were segmented into five groups: these groups were 'strong personal seekers', 'practical brand seekers', 'traditional personal seekers', 'active fashion seekers', 'unconcerned group'. Each of these groups of male consumers showed significant differences in the preference and purchasing Intension of necktie pattern designs according to their fashion life style.

A Study on the Consumer's Purchasing Motives toward Casual Hanbok - in the areas of Pusan - (생활한복의 구매동기에 관한 연구 -부산지역을 중심으로-)

  • This study was to identify the dimensions of consumer's purchasing motives and purchasing delay reasons toward casual hanbok. Other objective was to examine relationship between these variables and future purchasing intention. Th 22 purchasing motive questions and 19 purchasing delay reasons were selected through the result of self-questionnaire analysis. 302 purchaser and 297 consumers who delay for particular reasons in Pusan responsed to the second questionnaire of purchasing motives and purchasing delay reasons toward casual Hanbok. The results as follows: 1. For factor analysis 22 purchasing motive questions were subjected to the principle component analysis with orthogonal rotation after extraction of 6 major factors. Six dimensions are consciousness of nation goodness of design conformity with fashion charming apperance relaxation fo body and mind nation goodness of design conformity with fashion charming appearance relaxation of body and mind and pursuit of individuality. These factors explained 62.0% of total variables. 2. Consumer's purchasing motives such as consciousness of nation goodness of design charming appearance and relaxation of body and mind has predicting power to the re-purchasing intention of casual hanbok 3. For factor analysis 19 delay reason question were subjected to the principle component analysis with orthogonal rotation after extraction of 5 major factors. Five dimensions are non-fitness for occasion and body shape unsatisfaction with design unsatisfaction with price need of information search for better product and preference for traditional hangok. These factors explained 60.4% of total variables. 4. Delay reasons of unsatisfaction with design and price were positively related to the future purchasing intention. This delay reason is caused by forces external to the consumer and the consumer has engaged in information search. This result explained this type of consumer has the strong future purchasing intention.
