Combined MRI and Relaxogram approach was introduced as a very useful tool for fat study. The phantoms simulating homogeneous mixture of fat and non-fat environments were measured with spin echo pulse sequence on a 0.15 T whole body imager. From 45 scans, the Tl values were obtained by fitting the data to continuous distribution (CONTIN) of relaxation time. This relaxogram gives broad distributions of relaxation time, which are characterized by a number of peaks with characteristic T1 values. Two distinct peaks in relaxogram were observed and identified as signals from com oil and gelatin gel. This model system can be served as simulating the distribution of fat in muscle. Also the relative ratio of two components, which is proportional to the area under the peak, is estimated and compared to nominal values. Based on the good agreement between two predictions, the values from our proposed method agreed with nominal values within $\pm$7 % error. The effects of different concentration of contrast agent and different region of interest are presented. To optimize total scan times, the minimum required data points and so further reduction in total scan times are discussed.

This study was performed to investigate correlation between total body weight loss and local sweat rate and to find out any possible method that can estimate total body weight loss judging from local sweat rate. Twelve adult females were kept at 44 $\pm1^{\circ}C$, 50 ${\pm}5\%$ R.H. (1) Physiological responses such as total body weight loss, local sweat rate, rectal temperature, skin temperature, blood pressure and pulse, (2) micro climate inside garment and (3) subjective sensation were examined. Two types of garment such as long-sleeves with long pants (Type I) and half·sleeves with short pants (Type II) were used to observe the effect of garment types on sweating response. Both clothing weight was equal (132$\pm$3 g/$m^{2}$). The results were as follows: 1. Regardless of the different types, total body weight loss was more interrelated with the sweat rate on forehead than any other parts of the body. Except the forehead, different parts of body with different types of garment influenced on body weight loss quite differently. 2. Total body weight loss was more interrelated with the weight gain of garment than the local sweat rate. 3. Under the environment of 44$\pm1^{\circ}C,\;50{\pm}5\%$R.H., body weight loss during 1 hour of subject clothed and silted was 275.2 g/hr and weight loss per body surface area was 178.9 g/$m^{2}/hr$ Garment types have no influences on total body weight loss. 4. Local sweat rate (mg/7.07 $cm^{2}/hr$) was 208.0,191.0, 133.0, 115.0,81 0, 75.1 and 66.3 on scruff, breast, forehead, forearm, thigh, upper arm, leg respectively No evidence has been found that garment types influenced on local sweat rate (p<0.1). 5. No interrelationships between rectal temperature and total body weight loss, local skin temperature and total body weight loss, and local skin temperature and local sweat rate were found. From this study, some possible method that we can estimate total body' weight loss judging from weight loss of garment. But considering the fact that clothing design factor, the physical characteristics of fabric and environmental factor such as humidity and wind velocity should be concerned in weight loss of garment, it should be studied further whether the total body weight loss can be estimated properly from the weight loss of garment. This experiment suggest that different parts of body with different types of garment can influence on body weight loss quite differently. Therefore, in order to get more precise results, more studies under the diversity of garment types should be done in the near future.

Monitoring of patients is essential in assuring the safety of sedation in the dental office. The purpose of this study was to explore the utilization and preferences of sedation, utilization of monitoring methods, and the preparation for emergencies during sedation. Members of the Korean Academy of Pediatric Dentistry were surveyed(n=245) from 1998. 10. 1 to 1998. 12. 20 to establish current trends in the use of sedation practices and monitoring methods in Korea. Findings of the survey include: 1. Twenty nine percent of pediatric dentists use sedative agents in their practices. Seventy one percent of pediatric dentists do not use any sedative agents in their practices 2. Thirty nine percent of pediatric dentists who use sedative agents do so without monitoring devices 3. Nitrous oxide inhalation sedation was the most frequently utilized sedation method by pediatric dentists and chloral hydrate was the most frequently utilized sedative by pediatric dentists. Pulse oximeter was the most frequently utilized monitoring method during sedation in dental office. 4. Only twenty eight percent of pediatric dentists obtain the informed consent of the child's legal guardian. 5. Only sixty percent of pediatric dentists prepare for emergencies during sedation.
Clinoptilolite zeolite samples were treated with hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid of different strength and the adsorption characteristics and crystal structures of the original and acid-treated clinoptilolites were studied. By treating with hydrochloric acid, the adsorbed amount increased to 5-fold for nitrogen, to 3-fold for benzene, but for methanol no significant change was observed. As acid strength increased further, there were declines both in adsorption capacity and crystallinity. The results showed that the increase of adsorbed amount was caused by the rearrangement of the pore entrance and cation exchange. A method for determination of clinoptilolite content in natural mineral based on benzene adsorption on acid-treated sample is proposed. By this method, the original sample used in this study was found to contain approximately 40% of clinoptilolite. Using pulse technique in micro-catalytic reactor system, the catalytic activities of hydrochloric acid-treated clinoptilolites in cumene cracking and toluene disproportionation reactions were measured. For cumene cracking reaction, the maximum conversion was observed for the 0.5 N hydrochloric acid-treated sample. It is instructive to note that the maximum benzene adsorption was also observed for the sample treated with 0.5 N HCl. This suggest that the conversion rate was determined mainly by the rate of transport of reactants and the products through the pore structure. In the toluene disproportionation reaction, the same trend was observed. But the rate of deactivation was high for samples with strong acid sites. Since catalyst having higher activity was deactivated more easily, the conversion maximum was shifted to the sample treated with higher concentration of acid, -1N. The catalytic activity of $Ca^{2+} and La^{3+} ion exchanged samples for the toluene disproportion was much lower than that of acid-treated samples. Introduction of Ca^{2+} and La^{3+}$ into the pore structure apparently decreases the effective pore diameter of acid-treated clinoptilolite thus limiting the diffusion of reactants and products.
Parallel imaging technique can provide several advantages for a multitude of MRI applications. Especially, in SENSE technique, sensitivity maps were always required in order to determine the reconstruction matrix, therefore, a number of difference approaches using sensitivity information from coils have been demonstrated to improve of image quality. Moreover, many filtering methods were proposed such as adaptive matched filter and nonlinear diffusion technique to optimize the suppression of background noise and to improve of image quality. In this study, we performed SENSE reconstruction using computer simulations to confirm the most suitable method for the feasibility of filtering effect and according to changing order of polynomial fit that were applied on variation of spatial resolution of sensitivity map. The image was obtained at 0.32T(Magfinder II, Genpia, Korea) MRI system using spin-echo pulse sequence(TR/TE = 500/20 ms, FOV = 300 mm, matrix = $128{\times}128$, thickness = 8 mm). For the simulation, obtained image was multiplied with four linear-array coil sensitivities which were formed of 2D-gaussian distribution and the image was complex white gaussian noise was added. Image processing was separated to apply two methods which were polynomial fitting and filtering according to spatial resolution of sensitivity map and each coil image was subsampled corresponding to reduction factor(r-factor) of 2 and 4. The results were compared to mean value of geomety factor(g-factor) and artifact power(AP) according to r-factor 2 and 4. Our results were represented while changing of spatial resolution of sensitivity map and r-factor, polynomial fit methods were represented the better results compared with general filtering methods. Although our result had limitation of computer simulation study instead of applying to experiment and coil geometric array such as linear, our method may be useful for determination of optimal sensitivity map in a linear coil array.

In this paper, we showed the applicability of power symmetric MSSI(Mid-Span Spectral Inversion) to the long-haul WDM system with the channel interference due to FWM(Four Wave Mixing). And we showed the degree of performance improvement. We used 1 dB EOP(Eye-Opening Penalty) criterion so as to evaluate the degree of compensation dependent on the variation of chirp parameter of optical pulse for the various input power in high speed tansmission system. And we evaluated the maximum input power of channel be able to be the signal to crosstalk noise (SNR) above 20 dB in the transmission link with the channel interference due to FWM. Consequently the proposed MSSI compensation method is capable to transmitting the total 68 WDM channels simultaneously with a 0.4 nm channel spacing and 5.3 dBm maximum input power in a 10 Gbps transmission link. Therefore the proposed power symmetric MSSI compensation method may be very useful for the implementation of long-haul wideband WDM transmission systems with relatively high power and improved performance.

The purpose of this study were to evaluate the effect on the reversion of sedation induced by midazolam with flumazenil and to determine the plasma concentration of flumazenil according to the method of administration. Intranasal and intravenous flumazenil were administered to sedated health volunteers aged from 23 to 25 years, in doses typical of those used clinically to induce sedation with midazolam and for reversal with flumazenil. Objective assessment for degree of sedation and vital signs, plasma concentration were made for 2 hours period. 1. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure, $SpO_2$ were not changed by adminstration of flumazenil in sedated subject with midazolam, but pulse rate was increased temporarily. 2. Flumazenil showed the reversal of the sedative effect induced by midazolam regardless of administration methods. But intravenous administration showed more effect on the degree and the duration of reversion than intranasal administration with the exception of on set time. 3. Peak plasma concentration of flumazenil administered by intranasal route reached after 2 min and that of flumazenil administered by intravenous route was 4 min. Thus uptake of flumazenil did not showed any difference in accordance with the adminstration route. 4. Administration of flumazenil resulted in the temporary increase of midazolam plasma concentration.

Metallic suture anchors are very useful and common fixation devices that are inserted into the target bone to sustain the tendon of a patient with musculus supraspinatus tendon ruptures. On the other hand, the presence of a metallic material prosthesis, such as a metal suture anchor, causes severe MR imaging artifacts, including field distortion, signal loss, and failure of fat suppression. The difference in magnetic susceptibility between metal and other organic materials causes magnetic field distortion surrounding the prosthesis. The resulting magnetic field inhomogeneity makes the images with a lower signal-to-noise ratio and distortion. For a patient with a suture anchor implanted, MR imaging is the golden standard for determining the postoperative prognosis, and a fat-saturation sequence is one of the imaging methods most affected by metal-induced artifacts. In this study, three fat-saturation sequences were compared. Artifact quantification and contrast comparison between the supraspinatus tendon and the surrounding muscle were presented. The images obtained using the STIR pulse sequence showed fewer susceptibility artifacts and better visibility in the supraspinatus tendon and the tissue area. Therefore, the STIR sequence is the most appropriate fat-saturation imaging method for patients with a metallic prosthesis.

Recently, when a fault occurs at a long-distance point in a LVDC (low voltage direct current) distribution feeder in a light rail system, the magnitude of the current can decrease to less than that of the load current of a light rail system. Therefore, proper protection coordination method to distinguish a fault current from a load current is required. To overcome these problems, this paper proposes an optimal algorithm of protection devices for a LVDC distribution feeder in a light rail system. In other words, based on the characteristics of the fault current for ground resistance and fault location, this paper proposes an optimal operation algorithm of a selective relay to properly identify the fault current compared to the load current in a light rail system. In addition, this paper modelled the distribution system including AC/DC converter using a PSCAD/EMTDC S/W and from the simulation results for a real light rail system, the proposed algorithm was found to be a useful and practical tool to correctly identify the fault current and load current.

Currently, inverted pendulums are being studied in many fields, including posture control of missiles, rockets, etc, and bipedal robots. In this study, the vertical posture control of the pendulum was studied by constructing a rotary inverted pendulum using a 256-pulse rotary encoder and a DC motor. In the case of nonlinear systems, complex algorithms and controllers are required, but a control method using the classic and relatively simple PID(Proportional Integral Derivation) algorithm was applied to the rotating inverted pendulum system, and a simple but desired method was studied. The rotating inverted pendulum system used in this study is a nonlinear and unstable system, and a PID controller using Microchip's dsPIC30F4013 embedded processor was designed and implemented in linear modeling. Usually, PID controllers are designed by combining one or two or more types, and have the advantage of having a simple structure compared to excellent control performance and that control gain adjustment is relatively easy compared to other controllers. In this study, the physical structure of the system was analyzed using mathematical methods and control for vertical balance of a rotating inverted pendulum was realized through modeling. In addition, the feasibility of controlling with a PID controller using a rotating inverted pendulum was verified through simulation and experiment.
