During the eruption of permanent teeth, Traumatic root fractures in young permanent incisors are rare. They occur most commonly in the maxillary central incisors of male patient and are frequently seen in the coronal third of the root. Permanent incisors are very important in terms of esthetics as well as of function, and so conservative treatment is advisable. It is important to maintain vitality of pulp to achieve better result. Location of the fracture line determines the Prognosis. No clinical change were seen in this three case. A case of central incisor with apparent healing of a root fracture without any tratment is presented in this paper. Long term clinical observation is required periodically.
The purpose of this study was to apply the photoplethsmography(PPG) as a non-invasive tool to evaluate the blood flow of the anterior tooth in clinic. The system consist of two light-emitting diodes(LED) powered by 5V as the light source. The LED was designed to two weve lengths, 940(infrared) and 660(red)nm simultaneously with a 36nm bandwidth at half the peak intensity. The 54 anterior vital tooth were examined and the measured was analysed in frequency domian (power spectrum).(omitted)

Root fracture is defined as a fracture involving the dentin, cementum, and pulp. Most fractures occur in the maxillary anterior teeth between the ages of 11 and 20 years old. The treatment for root fracture in permanent teeth involves the reduction and fixation of the displaced coronal segment. When signs of pulp necrosis or inflammatory root resorption are present, root canal therapy should be performed. Since most apical fragments maintain pulp vitality, root canal therapy is typically limited to coronal fragments. However, it's too difficult to achieve a proper apical stop on coronal fragment. Intentional replantation involves performing root apex treatment outside the mouth after intentional extraction of the tooth in a controlled environment and then replanting it. The objective is 'perfect' root canal therapy. Intentional replantation may be used in cases of failed typical root canal therapy, problematic endodontic retreatment due to the existing restoration or a calcified root canal, and when apical surgery is contraindicated because of a lack of reasonable approaches. In this case, intentional replantation was carried out to treat a horizontal root fracture in a maxillary central incisor with a calcified root canal due to previous trauma. We achieved a clinically and functionally satisfactory result.

Dens evaginatus is a dental anomaly involving an extra cusp or tubercle that protrudes from the occlusal surface of the affected tooth. The prevalence of dens evaginatus is 1 to 4 percent, and dens evaginatus is observed most commonly in premolars. It can be worn or fractured easily, resulting in pulpal exposure, pulpal infection, loss of vitality, facial infection and osteomyelitis. Since the tooth frequently has the immature apex when the tubercle is fractured, there is difficulty in treatment. Although calcium hydroxide is widely used for pulp treatment of an immature permanent tooth, several alternatives have been suggested to reduce patient's appointments. Mineral trioxide aggregate is considered biocom-patible and has excellent marginal sealing ability. In addition, it can minimize patient's visits. In this case report, apexification with MTA was attempted on the immature premolars in patients with cellulitis patient, caused by pulp necrosis due to dens evaginatus. Favorable clinical and radiologic results were achieved. In one case, continued root formation was observed.
Two cases of vital pulpotomy for treatment of open fractured canine teeth in dog were referred to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of College of Veterinary Medicine, Chonnam National University. In case 1, a 2-year-old male Locker. Spaniel was fractured left mandibular canine and the pulp was exposed. In case 2, an 1-year-old male Border Collie was open fractured both mandibular canine teeth. In both cases, we made sure of pulp vitality by oral examination and radiological findings. Therefore, we performed vital pulpotomy in these patients. Two months after therapy, radiological examinations were performed for evaluation of success of therapy. In both cases the radiographs showed normal periapical anatomy and no changes in the root resorption.

Autotransplantation is a procedure which transplants teeth from the original position to other positions in the same individual. It is classified surgical reposition by intraalveolar autotransplantation and transalveolar autotransplantation. The prognosis for successful autotransplantation is dependent on a number of factors such as root development, surgical technique, patient's age, endodontic treatment, time and type of splinting, preservation of periodontal ligament and storage medium. The most important factor is preservation of periodontal ligament. The cause of the failure of transplantation include damage of the transplant during removal from deep palatal malposition, poor regeneration of the bone around the transplant and chronic periodontal infection. In case I, Impacted maxillary canine for which surgical exposure and orthodontic treatment was impossisle was transplanted. After 2 weeks, It showed periapical radiolucency and external root resorption. So, endodontic treatment was done. One year later, permanent filling was done with gutta percha. In case II, Transpositioned maxillary central incisor was transplanted after extraction of impacted mesiodens. Pulp vitality was maintained during 5 months without other clinical symptons.
Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) is widely used in endodontic therapy as a pulp-capping material, root or furcal perforation repair material, and for apexification and obturation of the root canal system. The purpose of this study was to formally document cases of MTA application in South Korean children and adolescents. Through this research, the practice of using MTA will be introduced and familiarized to the clinical practitioners. This study involved endodontic treatment using MTA for fractured crowns in 11- and 12-year-old. The children were followed up for 12 months until the pulp vitality was confirmed; in young permanent teeth with immature roots, the pulp is integral to the process of apexogenesis. These observational results regarding the use of MTA as an apexification material in non-vital immature permanent incisors appear to provide promising results in the search for new materials to meet existing endodontic needs.

The vitality of immature tooth could be lost by dental caries, trauma and fracture of malformed tooth. The vitality loss might lead to halt of the development of the root. The recommended endodontic treatment for a non-vital immature permanent tooth is apexification. Apexification is a method of inducing apical closure through the formation of mineralized tissue in the apical pulp region. Calcium hydroxide is the material of choice for apexification. Long-term exposure to calcium hydroxide may form the apical hard tissue, but weaken the dentin due to its alkaline nature and thus make the roots more susceptible to fracture. It is important to preserve any weakened tooth, so a permanent restoration is needed to reinforce teeth that are prone to fracture. The purpose of this case report was to describe the treatment for reinforcing immature teeth treated with long-term calcium hydroxide. In these cases, the apexes of teeth were sealed with MTA plugs and the root canals were restored with composite resin and fiber post.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the changes of laser doppler flowmeter output associated with stage of root development. Laser Doppler Flowmeter was done in 40 elementary students aged between 7 and 8 years and in 20 adults aged between 23 and 24 years. Among 40 elementary students, 20 had apical foramens with $1{\sim}2mm$ diameters and another 20 had ones with larger diameters than 2mm. The LDF values were analyzed with ANOVA and paired t-test. The results were as follows. 1. Immature root apecies group had a higher tendency than mature root apecies group in LDF values, but there was no statistical significance (p>0.05). 2. There was no statistical significance in LDF values comparing groups with immature root apecies (p>0.05). 3. There were no significant differences between right and left central incisors in LDF values (p>0.05).
Objectives: This study aimed to assess prospectively the clinical outcome of nonsurgical endodontic treatment and identify patient- and tooth-related factors, rather than treatment-related factors, that were the best predictors of this outcome. Materials and Methods: The inception cohort comprised 441 teeth (320 patients) and 175 teeth (123 patients) were followed up for 1-2 years. Age, gender, presence of medical disease, number of canals, previous endodontic treatment, presence of sensitivity and pain, pulp vitality, swelling or sinus tract of pulpal origin on the gingiva, periapical radiolucency and tendency of unilateral bite on the affected tooth were recorded at treatment start. Results: The outcome was classified on the basis of periapical radiolucency as healed or non healed. The overall healed rate in these cases, including nonsurgical retreatment, was 81.1%. Four tooth-related factors had a negative impact in the bivariate analysis: previous endodontic treatment, necrotic pulp, preoperative gingival swelling or sinus tract of pulpal origin, and preoperative periapical radiolucency. Stepwise logistic regression analysis including patient-, tooth-related factors and level of the root canal filling as a treatment-related factor showed that preoperative gingival lesion (odds ratio [OR]: 4.4; p = 0.005), preoperative periapical radiolucency (OR: 3.6; p = 0.011), and $\leq$ 1-2 mm under root filling length (OR: 9.6; p = 0.012) were significant predictors of failure. Conclusions: A preoperative gingival lesion of pulpal origin can influence the outcome of nonsurgical endodontic treatment in addition to preoperative periapical radiolucency.
