Objective: Dual-task walking deficits impact functional daily life, which often requires walking while performing simultaneous tasks such as talking, thinking or carrying an object. This study is to find out the latest trend of dual-task training's influence on ambulatory abilities of a stroke patient. Design: Systematic review of randomized controlled trials. Methods: This literature review was conducted in Pubmed and Sciencedirect with the follwing key words:stroke, cerebro-vascular accident, hemiplegia, gait, rehabilitation, exercise. 7 studies were chosen in findings by search tool. 3 studies were case study, 3 studies were cross sectional observational study and 1 study was randomized controlled trial. Results: It was found that stroke patients have difficulties in doing 2 motor tasks simultaneously and when they do 2 tasks, one is done in a naturally preferred activity areas. Moreover, when simply applying dual-tasks, the walking speed decreased. Meanwhile, when applying them through training, the speed increased. This showed the improvement of effective task-implementation abilities after dual-task training using task-integration models. Conclusions: In the beginning of the 2000s, dual-tasks were implemented by simply combining walking and cognition or exercise task, and the results of this study suggest that subjects with stroke have difficulty performing dual task. However, the latest trend is to let patients do the dual-task training by combining it with virtual reality. Therefore, dual task training could be performed in a safe in the environment such as virtual reality or augment reality.
Objectives : This work is aimed to reveal the relations between concepts of subhealth(mibyung) and Korean medicine patterns. Methods : We carried out a literature searching on Oasis, RISS, DBpia, Pubmed to summarize concepts of Mibyung. CNKI Searching also was performed with keyword related to mibyung(未病), subhealth(亞健康) and syndrome. Results : Korea, China and Japan have different concepts of mibyung. China's mibyung concept is relatively broader and wide which includes healthy, subhealth, development of disease and recurrence avoid. In contrast, Korea and Japan's mibyung concepts are focused on China's subhealth. Though Mibyung's patterns are varied widely depends on studies, China's studies of subhealth and TCM patterns showed that Deficiency patterns are diagnosed at high frequency in clinical study and literature study. Conclusions : This work could contribute to further study of subhealth(mibyung) and their relations to patterns, diagnostic methods and treatment efficacy.
Objectives : Although moxibustion is one of the most frequently used methods in oriental medicine, effect of moxibustion in myofiber regeneration and muscle fatigability is hardly studied. This study was researched to observe the effect of moxibustion in myofiber regeneration and muscle fatigability. Methods : We reviewed studies which contained moxibustion and published after 2000s in Pubmed. We also reviewed domestic studies in RISS, KISS and DBPIA, but only three studies were researched. Results : In myofiber regeneration, moxibuston has improved blood flow in muscle tissue and recover tissue injuries fast. Especially, moxibustion trigger an increse of HSP levels, which protect the cell against irreversible damage, apoptosis and death. Thus, that helps to stimulate myofiber regeneration. In many studies, as moxibustion stimulate PMRs and decrease fatigue substances, such as lactate acid and creatinine, so moxibustion is considered to be effective to recover and prevent muscle fatigability. Based on such effects, moxibustion is considered to have an effect on TPs, but have been hardly studied. Conclusions : Although Moxibution is considered to be effective in myofiber regeneration and muscle fatigability, futher study is needed.
Purpose: Concept analysis was performed on the behavioral concept of endotracheal suctioning (ETS), to identify the goal, to develop astandardized clinical protocol, to identify the antecedents and consequences, and to differentiate the improper use of ETS. Method: Walker & Avant's concept analysis was employed using clinical guidelines, books and review articles in which the procedures of ETS were written in detail and published in Pubmed within the last 20 years. Result: The macro-goal of ETS was to remove accumulated respiratory secretions. Three defining attributes of ETS were identified; catheter, suctioning and asepsis. Each attribute involved empirical referents, such as the size and depth of the catheter, the suction pressure, duration and method for suctioning. The antecedents of ETS were identical to the clinical evidences for the need of ETS such as the nursing assessment data. The consequences of ETS serve as an evaluation criteria on the effectsof ETS based on the goal of ETS. Conclusion: The concept analysis of ETS demonstrates an example of considering a specific nursing protocol of ETS as a behavioral concept, applying concept analysis to it to identify it's key behavioral components as defining attributes and empirical referents and then developing and applying the standard ETS protocol.
Purpose: The purpose of this paper was to examine the relationship between type D personality and cardiovascular disease, and to suggest future research directions. Method: A literature search was conducted from the following nine databases: 1) MEDLINE, 2) CINAHL, 3) Pubmed Unrestricted, 4) PsycINFO, 5) KISS, 6) RICHIS, 7) RISS4U, and 8) Nanet. The combinations of the words, "type D personality", "personality", "heart", "cardiovascular", and "coronary" were used for keyword searches to find relevant articles. Twenty eight studies were identified. Result: Type D personality has been associated with increased morbidity and mortality in patients with established cardiovascular disease. Type D patients are also at increased risk for impaired quality of life, and seem to benefit less from medical and invasive treatment. Conclusion: There is substantial evidence for a relationship between type D personality and clinical outcomes related to cardiovascular disease. Randomized clinical trials are needed to further evaluate the value of controlling type D personality to improve survival and reduce morbidity in patients with cardiovascular disease. Accumulating evidence from this analysis indicates the urgent need to adopt a personality approach in order to optimize the identification of patients at risk for stress related cardiac events.
Objectives : The purpose of this study is to present the clinical practice guidelines for colorectal cancer through the analysis of existing clinical practice guidelines and randomised clinical trials (RCTs) in Western and Chinese medicine. Methods : The data related to Western and Oriental medical treatment of colorectal cancer were collected using various search engines such as Google Scholar, KIOM OASIS, PUBMED and Jisan library of Daejeon university. Results & Discussion : Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in Korea. In recent studies, applying combined oriental and western medicine can improve the survival, quality of life, immune function, and suppress of tumor growth in colorectal cancer. However there isn't still an objective and systemic clinical guideline for colorectal cancer, so we have difficulty in clinical application. This study will be a preliminary study to establish clinical practice guidelines of Korean Medicine for colorectal cancer. Conclusions : Further objective and systemic clinical studies related to Korean Medicine are needed to develop more advanced clinical practice guidelines of colorectal cancer.
Objectives The purpose of this study was to introduce Chinese Taoist Cognitive Psychotherapy (CTCP), a psychotherapy based on Oriental culture, and review related research to understand its efficacy. Methods Relevant articles were searched from CNKI, WANFANG, Pubmed, EMBASE, AMED and CENTRAL.Results Thirty-seven studies were selected based on our inclusion criteria, which included 31 RCTs. The overall risk of bias of the RCTs was unclear or high. In the total relevant studies, the target diseases were most commonly depression and anxiety disorder. Generally, CTCP combined with Western medicine was significantly more effective than prescribing medicine alone. Conclusions CTCP can be useful for several psychiatric disorders including depression and anxiety disorder; however, more high-quality clinical trials are needed to confirm its efficacy.

Objectives : This study was performed to review articles concerning acupuncture and moxibustion treatment for De Quervain's Stenosing Tenosynovitis. Methods : On-line databases including Cochrane Library, Pubmed, CNKI, NDSL and OASIS were searched to identify articles concerning acupuncture and moxibustion treatment for De Quervain's Stenosing Tenosynovitis (DQST). Several duplicated articles and those not relevant to this topic were excluded, as were review articles and commentaries. Results : Fifty-one studies were identified, which included 28 clinical case studies with 1,227 patients and 23 randomized controlled trials with 2,040 patients. In these studies, acupuncture, acupotomy, moxibustion, pharmacopuncture, and laser acupuncture were used as DQST interventions. Although DQST is a common disease seen in clinical practice, only four of the 51 studies we identified in our search were published in Korean academic journals, all of which used pharmacopuncture. Conclusion : Although the results of the studies to date provide evidence that acupuncture and moxibustion are effective treatments for De Quervain's Stenosing Tenosynovitis, the absence of a standard, objective evaluation tool, and a lack of reporting on the negative side-effects associated with treatment remain important factors that should be addressed in future studies.
Objective : To observe the biological responses and therapeutic effects of moxibustion and review the trend of related study. Methods : We searched and investigated the journals supplied by Pubmed online site and Je-Han Oriental Medical Academy homepage with the key word "moxibustion". Results : 1. The biological responses of moxibustion reveal on skelectal, digestive, urinary systems, especially blood, angiological systems. 2. The therapeutic effect of moxibustion are analgesic action, controls of excitation or inhibitation of nerve system, improvement of blood circulation, nutrition in organs, increase of absorption of pathlogical product, controls of secreting glands, care of tuberculosis, increase of natural healing power etc. 3. Moxibustions effects on diarrhea, edema, diabetus mellitus, hyperlipiemia, tinnitus, osteoporosis, facial palsy, myopia, pimple etc. 4. Most of moxibustion studys related on immunofunctional actions and renal functional actions. 5. To elevated quality of studies, we needs well-designed epeerimental methods, efficient secure of experimental groups, appropriate statistical verification, accumulations of knowledges about data research. Conclusions : We find out moxibustion is remakble on clinincal therapeutic effects, from now on much more studies are needed to develop this therapy.
Objectives The purpose of this study is to analyze clinical studies on effectiveness of herbal medicine in rhinosinusitis. Methods We searched the randomized controlled trials (RCTs) with herbal medicine treatment on rhinosinusitis from the Pubmed in recent 10 years (from 2008 to 2018). Results 11 RCTs were reviewed. In 10 out of 11 studies showed that the herbal medicine may be effective in the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis without nasal polyp and uncomplicated acute rhinosinusitis. However, inclusion and exclusion criteria, and outcome measures were varied among different studies. No serious adverse reactions were reported from the herbal medicine treatment. Conclusions The results of these trials showed that herbal medicine may be effective in the treatment of rhinosinusitis. Well-designed RCTs for domestic herbal medicine treatment on rhinosinusitis are needed to prove its efficacy clearly.
