하수처리시설의 에너지 자립화 방안 연구 (Study on Energy Independence Plan for Sewage Treatment Plant)

  • The objectives of this study are to analyze the energy independence plan and to propose a suitable sewage treatment plant in Korea. The total amount of electricity consumption for public sewage treatment plant was estimated as 1,182 GWh in 2007. It was estimated that total 16 sewage treatment plants with renewable energy systems produced electricity of 15.2 GWh per year, which could replaced 0.8% of total electricity used for sewage treatment. It was found that domestic sewage treatment plants with power generation plants by digestion gas were installed in 7 places and produced electricity of 13 GWh per year. It was also found that the power generation plants by digestion gas were the most cost-effective for sewage treatment out of the renewable energy systems based on the benefit-cost analysis.

서울시 하수처리장 수질의 변동 및 방류수의 영향 평가 (The Assessment on the Effect of Discharge and Variation of Water Quality from the Sewage Treatment Plants in Seoul)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the variation characteristics of influent and effluent quality from sewage treatment facilities using activated sludge processes and to assess the impact caused by discharge of treated sewage on the receiving water Monthly data of five water quality items (BOD, COD, SS, T-N, T-P) were used to understand the water quality at three sewage treatment plants in Seoul for five years from 1999 to 2003. Concentration differences of water quality parameters were observed between upstream and downstream site at the sewage treatment plant outfall to investigate the impact of discharge in Tan stream and Han river basin. 1. Due to the effect of continuous improvement in sewer system, the concentrations of influent went on increasing generally. 2. Effluent concentrations of BOD, COD and SS showed the trend of a little decreasing, but the trend of increasing in T-N and T-P. 3. In Tan stream basin, the impact of sewage treatment plant discharge was not observed directly, because concentration of discharge was lower than stream water's. But discharges from sewage treatment plants affected water quality at downstream site in Han river, concentration of T-P especially.

팔당호 상류수계에 위치한 공공 하수종말처리시설의 총인 배출 최적관리 (Optimal Management Scheme for Phosphorus Discharged from Public Sewage Treatment Plant Located in Upstream Basin of Paldang Lake)

  • The purpose of the study is to optimally manage sewage treatment plant with analysis of phosphorus contribution and improvement of water quality contributing rate in the effect of inflowing point of effluent and Pal-Dang lake after reducing T-P discharge from large scale public sewage treatment plant at upstream of Pal-Dang lake. Also, this study, for enforcement of T-P in effluent, plans optimal management of effluent T-P through examining propriety of environmental, technological, and economical aspect such as water quality standard of domestic and foreign T-P and related policy. In regarding optimal management of T-P discharged from public sewage treatment plant located in upstream of Pal-Dang lake, the study drew following conclusions. With the optimal management of public sewage treatment plant, it showed that a pollution level became higher in the order of Sumgang E in South-Han river, C in Dalcheon, B1 B2, A in North-Han river, and J in Kyungancheon, and it is required reduction of T-P first. The highest value in analysis of benefit-costs from sewage treatment plant in the selected research area was Kyungan B, and the others are with the order of Jojong A, Bokha A, Kyungan A, and Yanghwa A. With result of this study, all 14 areas are required more enforced phosphorus treatment. The study resulted that the most top priority areas were Hangang F, Sumgang B, and Gyungan A, top priority areas were Bokha A, Dalcheon B, and Cheongmi A, priority areas were Hangang E, Heukcheon A, Gyungan B, and Jojong A, and potential areas were Sumgang A, Yanghwa A, Dalcheon A, and Hangang D. It seems to be appropriate to apply 0.2 mg/L of T-P treatment for water supply source reservation, 0.5 mg/L for the other areas by locally, and 0.2~0.5 mg/L for biological nitrogen phosphorus treatment method and 0.5~1 mg/L for Conventional Activated Sludge by technologically. Also, it may be appropriate to apply 0.2 mg/L for the most top priority area(I), 0.3 mg/L for the top priority area(II), 0.4 mg/L for priority area(III), and 0.5 mg/L for potential area(IV) by the separation of priority area.

하수처리장 연계처리를 위한 가축분뇨 최적 처리공정 선정에 관한 연구 (Determination of Optimal Livestock Wastewater Treatment Process for Linked Treatment in Sewage Treatment Plant)

  • 처리공정별 연계처리수질을 검토한 결과 생물학적처리만 거친 생물반응조 처리수의 경우 연계부하율이 $COD_{Mn}$의 경우 1.67%(설계수질 기준), 2.59%(운영수질 기준), T-P의 경우 3.69%(설계수질 기준), 7.67%(운영수질 기준)로 다소 높게 나타났으나 하수처리장 운영에 미치는 영향은 거의 없을 것으로 판단된다. 또한, 고도처리공정인 산화부상분리 처리수 및 생물여과 처리수의 경우 연계부하율은 1% 내외로 고도처리설비 설치 시 과대 설비설치의 우려가 있다. 따라서 S하수처리장의 경제성 및 안정적인 운영을 고려할 경우 생물학적처리인 생물반응조를 거친 처리수를 연계하는 것이 바람직할 것으로 판단된다.

재정사업과 민간투자사업의 하수처리장 하수유입률 특성분석 (Comparing the Inflow Rate of Sewage Treatment Plants Invested by the Public Funds or Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Projects)

  • The purpose of this study is to figure out the differences of the inflow rates of Sewage Treatment Plants (STP), invested by public fund or public-private partnership (PPP). This paper finds that the average ratio of sewage inflow according to facility capacities (medium and small scale STP) was either nearly below 30% or above 100% in the first year. As the size of STP increased, there was decrease in the accuracy of demand assumption. This was because the operation time when the ratio of sewage inflow was uniform was different according to the size of STP, whereby the time was short when the STP were small. The design average ratio of sewage inflow was 10% larger than the real average ratio; this was considered overdesigned. In the case of a plant built by the PPP scheme, the average ratio of inflow of the STP before an abolition of MRG was larger than after the abolition of MRG. This may be explained by moral hazard from too much reliance on MRG. After the abolition of MRG, the demand risk of PPP was shifted from a PPP project to a conventional project.

마을하수도 운영실태 및 개선방안 (A study on the management status of public small-scale sewage treatment facilities and the improvement)

  • In this study, the management and improvement of public small-scale sewage treatment facilities was investigated. In order to improve the effective management of the operation of small-scale sewage treatment facilities, treatment methods and the problems associated with sewage treatment were carefully addressed based on the data and literature. The investigation results showed that sewer pipes in rural areas should be repaired to prevent sewage from leaking and small-scale operations should be required to have effective management for pollutant loads less than 50%. Also, new methods should be developed for low concentrations of sewage. A law associated with FRP treatment facilities should be established and local governments need to supervise these operations to avoid insufficient and faulty construction. It is recommended that new facilities are built with advanced treatment techniques when the old facility can not comply with nitrogen and phosphorous discharge limits. Moreover, the study shows that nutrient and coliform treatment efficiency improves when abandoned facilities are renovated with the installation of nitrification/denitrification and disinfection processes or another advanced process.

대구시 산업단지 인근 하수처리장의 악취발생 특성 (Emission Characteristics of Odor Compounds from a Sewage Treatment Plant Near an Industrial Complex Area in Daegu City)

  • Objectives: This study evaluated the odor emission characteristics from a sewage treatment plant near an industrial complex area in Daegu City. Methods: Odor samples were collected from March 2017 to December 2017 and analyzed for specified offensive odor substances. The odor quotient and the odor contribution were calculated. Results: Ammonia, methyl mercaptane, hydrogen sulfide, dimethyl sulfide, acetaldehyde, propionylaldehyde, toluene, xylene, and methylethylketone were detected in all samples for monitoring the specified odor compounds. The result of contribution analysis is that hydrogen sulfide made the highest contribution in all processes, followed by acetaldehyde. Conclusion: The major components of odor can be determined by evaluating their degree of contribution to the odor intensity and the concentration of the individual odor component. To increase the effectiveness of odor reduction, rather than addressing high-concentration odor compounds, policies focused on materials with a high odor contribution are necessary.

충청남도 하수처리시설의 공정 및 운영 특성 분석 (Analysis of Process and Operating Characteristics for Chung Nam Province Sewage Treatment Plants)

  • Currently, small scale sewage works are getting increase in Chung Nam Province and it is strongly required for those plants to get the information of optimized procedures and technologies. Most processes for sewage works in Korea were designed for large scale plants, so many difficulties are observed in small scale sewage works. This study was conducted to evaluate the propriety of O&M and construction cost for sewage treatment plants in Chung Nam Province. The treatment results and process stability of 32 public sewage treatment plants were also investigated. It is expected to provide optimum O&M and construction cost for future small scale sewage works and improving projects of existing plants by these results. Pollution problems caused by small scale plants are usually restricted to small areas; however, in view of the high cost per unit population, treatment requirements and alternatives have to be studied carefully. In comparison to larger plants, more pronounced and different boundary conditions such as unstable influent load, per capita costs and a large variety of feasible treatment and disposal systems were considered.

강우로 인한 유입하수량 증가와 슬러지 계면높이 변화에 따른 하수처리장 효율평가 (Evaluation of Sewage Treatment Plant Efficiency in the Variation of Sewage Inflow and Sludge Interface Height by Rainfall)

  • 이상 강우 시 하수유입량과 슬러지 계면높이의 변화가 처리효율에 미치는 영향을 실제 처리장에 적용해서 실험한 결과, 유입량이 증가하고, 계면높이가 높아질수록 공공처리장 방류수 수질기준 항목인 $BOD_5$, $COD_{Mn}$, SS, T-N, T-P 처리효율이 감소하였다. 그중 SS는 강우 시 농도변화가 가장 심한 항목으로 0.5배(0.5 Q) 유입 시 슬러지 계면높이 0.5 m에서 74.2%, 1.0 m에서 76.4%, 1.5 m 70.2%, 2.0 m에서 60.7%로 계면높이를 1.0 m로 유지했을 때 처리효율이 가장 높았고, 1.0 Q 유입 시 0.5 m 71.7%, 1.0 m 71.9%, 1.5 m 46.4%, 2.0 m -38.0%로 나타났으며, 2.0 Q~2.0 m 이상과 3.0 Q~1.0 m 이상에서는 sludge rising 현상이 유발되어 공공수역에 악영향을 끼칠 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 계면높이를 0.5 m로 유지한다 할지라도 유입량이 증가하면 처리효율은 74.2%에서 17.3%로 감소하므로 강우 시 유입량 조절이 가장 중요하고, 계면높이를 1.0 m 이하로 유지하여 운영하여야 공공수역의 수질에 미치는 영향을 최소화 할 수 있다.
