Information technology and globalization are two main forces that will bring in a social transition in the new millenium. Human Ecology, as a discipline to study the interaction between individuals and families and their environment, needs to define a new mission in changing social environments. This paper analyzes the forces behind this social transition and their influences to the lifestyle of individuals and families. It also defines new missions of Human Ecology in terms of education, subjects and methods of research, and public responsibilities. As the society changes, the paradigm of Human Ecology should be expanded to cover newly appearing environmental factors. It should be emphasized that these expanded areas should be under the unified field of Human Ecology to offer the integrated approaches that other specialized field may not offer.

A 26-year-old male member of the Australian Defense Force presented with a history of central abdominal pain of 4 weeks duration and peripheral eosinophilia consistent with eosinophilic enteritis. Acute hookworm disease was diagnosed as the cause. Adult worms recovered from feces after therapy with albendazole were morphologically consistent with Ancylostoma ceylanicum. As the patient had been deployed with the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands for 6 months prior to this presentation, it is very likely that the A. ceylanicum was acquired in Solomon Islands. Until now, it has been assumed that any Ancylostoma spp. recovered from humans in Solomon Islands is A. duodenale. However, this case demonstrates that human hookworm infection acquired in the Solomon Islands could be caused by A. ceylanicum.

The infrared astronomy satellite AKARI/FIS (Far-Infrared Surveyor) performed all-sky survey in 4 Far-IR bands (50 - 200${\mu}m$ range). It observed around 94% of the whole sky twice or more with a higher spatial resolution and a wider wavelength coverage than that of previous all-sky mission, IRAS. The AKARI/FIS bright source catalogue ${\beta}-2$ is the second released version which included around 290,000 point sources. It provides us with more reliable position and flux information, and around 4 times larger number of sources compared with the first version of catalogue. The sensitivity limit at $90{\mu}m$ band is 0.6 Jy and the estimated flux uncertainty is 20-35% for bright sources. The catalogue will be open to public in this year after the improvement of accuracy, reliability and completeness.

Now more than ever, many journalists are using hospitals' homepages for articles about hospitals, their mission, research, and events. Therefore hospitals' homepages have to be planned and constructed for journalists. The purpose of this study is to investigate hospitals' online media relations through analysing homepages. For investigating specifically, this study compares hompages of hospitals in Korea and hospitals in USA. This study uses four categories; basic media relations tools, useful information, interactive communication tools, and ease of use for journalists. The result of this study shows that hospitals' homepages in Korea are needed to improve for building with journalists. The hospitals' hompages have to be constructed by a variety of materials; press room, image and graphic archives, multimedia resources, and interactivity or responsiveness. This study suggests that the hospitals' homepages have the potential to achieve the desired public relations objective but are not commonly being used to their full potential in media relations.

Two years have passed since hospital accreditation was introduced in Korea by the Korean Institute of Healthcare Accreditation (KOIHA), which takes, as its mission, continuously improving healthcare quality and patient safety for the public. KOIHA also has a plan to impose on outcomes in management of patient care. With a view to enhance the practice of accreditation in terms of quality as well as quantity, and to help improve healthcare quality and patient safety in Korea, this paper reviews some issues on healthcare policies which are expected to be adopted in 2013 by the forthcoming government. A few suggestions are added.

경찰공무원은 공직의 체계상 특정직으로 분류된다. 대부분의 특정직은 별도의 인사법규에 근거하여 개별적 인사행정이 이루어지고 있다. 조직과 임무가 특수한 만큼 일반직에 대한 인사행정을 적용햐는데 한계가 있기 때문이다. 경찰 근무성적평정도 이러한 논리로 타 공직과는 상이한 형태로 실시되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 경찰 근무성적평정 제도의 보다 바람직한 운영을 도모하기 위해서 평정결과에 대한 검증절차를 도입할 것을 제안하였다. 다만, 제도시행 초기에는 검증대상을 최종 평정권자의 결과만으로 한정하는 것이 바람직할 것이다.

Currently, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is spreading from recreational purposes to the public- and commercial-use product areas. Various efforts are being made worldwide to ensure the safety of UAVs and expand their service applications and convenience, because autonomous flights are becoming increasingly popular. In order for a UAV to perform autonomous flight and mission without operator assistance, environmental perception technology, path planning technology, and flight control technology are needed. In this article, we present recent trends in these technologies.

Many publications of ecocritical research papers and translations of ecocriticism occur in Vietnam in recent years. This paper examines ecocritical scholarly writing in Vietnam, understanding how it corresponds to-reflects and attends to-contemporary Vietnamese society and politics. Specifically, this paper contextualizes Vietnamese ecocriticism in contemporary social and political concerns-embodied in journalistic and administrative documents-about the modernity-oriented postcolonial nation-building of Vietnam. In revealing critiques of political and social degenerations implied in ecocritical writings in Vietnam, this paper suggests that the emergence of ecocriticism in present-day Vietnam indicates a recent "political turn." More importantly, such emergence reflects and engages with the continuing Marxist perspective of literature as an instrument for social criticism and cultural revolution in Vietnam. Vietnamese ecocritics bear the mission of prophets of the time, public educators, and soul engineers, writing is an act of engaging with and influencing reality. Writing (literary and scholarly) still forms an idealized ideological instrument in the struggles for national homogeneity and sovereignty and social democracy in present-day Vietnam.

우리나라는 최초의 우주탐사선이자 달탐사선인 KPLO를 2022년 8월에 발사할 예정이다. KPLO에는 6기의 임무탑재체가 실리게 되며, 이중 4개의 탑재체는 국내의 대학과 정부출연연구소에서 개발하여 달 표면과 주변 우주환경에 대한 과학임무를 수행하게 된다. 이들 국내에서 개발된 과학탑재체가 달 궤도에서 획득한 Data, 즉 과학자료는 지상국에서 수신하여 이를 처리하여 과학연구 혹은 교육 목적으로 활용될 것으로 예상된다. 이러한 태양계 탐사 과학임무로 부터 획득된 과학자료는 과학의 공익성과 연구교류 활성화를 위해서 국제적으로 대중에게 공개하고 있다. 이에 KPDS도 일반 사용자들이 인터넷으로 이들 과학자료를 쉽게 검색하고 다운로드 받을 수 있도록 한국항공우주연구원에서는 KARI Planetary Data System(KPDS)를 구축하고 있으며, 일반에게 공개할 예정이다. KPDS는 단순히 과학자료를 제공하는 것에서 그치지 않고, 이들 과학자료가 NASA에서 개발한 PDS4 표준을 준수하고 있는지 검증함으로써 세계 각국의 타 우주관련 기관과 상호활용이 용이하도록 하여 활용성을 높은 과학자료로 관리하게 된다. 또한 이러한 PDS4 표준 준수여부를 검증함으로써 KPLO 이후 우리나라에서 수행하게 될 미래의 우주탐사 과학임무로부터 획득될 과학자료도 저장, 공개를 할 수 있도록 KPDS는 범용성을 고려하여 개발하고 있다.
