A Study on the Choice Behavior of Transportation Mode in Jeju (제주지역의 교통수단선택 행태에 관한 연구)

  • In order to solve the traffic problem in jeju, we must reduce demand for car travel. In addition, demand for passenger travel by public transport policy is needed for conversion. And to improve the quality of public transport services are desperately needed. The purpose of this study, personal characteristics of the trip traveler and the relationship between transportation choice, and personal effectiveness as a factor in travel costs and travel time on the impact of transportation choices will investigate. Restructure its public transportation routes, when to switch to buses to car traffic on the data as a basis for the factors that may be. In addition to improving the quality of public transport services is expected to be able to contribute. To study the performance of the May 2010 survey was conducted. And multinominal logit model were conducted. According to the analysis, People who own homes and families with more than 5 people are likely to use cars.   • As sustainable growth has been emphasized in the field of transportation, the railway system has been promoted as an environmentally-friendly transport mode. However, mode shifts from other transport modes to railway have been sluggish. In this context, to enhance the understanding of railway's competitive advantages and disadvantages, this research evaluates travelers'preferences for public transport modes for inter-regional trips: such understanding should make it possible to formulate effective policy for promoting railways. To this end, passenger recognition of competitive transport modes has been measured by applying multidimensional scaling analysis for six major inter-regional public transport services - KTX, ITX-Samaeul, Mugunghwa-ho, premium express bus, general express bus, and airline. As a result, we can conceptualize the recognition similarity in two-dimensional space, and understand how travelers perceive the six major transport modes.

  • The differentiation of this study is largely based on the above discussion. First, I would like to examine the main factors that affect the image of the local government's special transport agencies in terms of users and suggest strategic options for promoting the local government's special traffic. Second, a public service approach is very necessary considering the concept of new public transport such as local government special transport, individual use experience and social impact. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the characteristics of local government special traffic through the five important factors of the service quality which are not capable of objectively measuring the characteristics of the service.

A Study of Present Conditions of Domiciliary Elder Care Utilizing Public Health Care Institutions in Rural Area (일 도단위 농촌지역 재가노인복지사업 운영 실태조사)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to suggest new direction for domiciliary care for elders provided by public institutions in rural areas. Method: The participants in the study were elders using one of 11 public health care institutions, of which 8 operated day care services exclusively, and 3 operated both day care and short-term respite care services. A survey was conducted using a structured questionnaire that included items on general characteristics of the service users, conditions of the services, personnel, financial status, facilities, and perception of the tasks of the staff. Result: The service content of the day care centers included Western and Chinese medical service, physical services, activities of ADL, nursing care services, meal services and transportation services. Domiciliary care centers provided a wide variety of health and social welfare service for elders. Personnel consisted of 3 to 8 staff for day care centers and 7 to 10 for domiciliary care centers. Both types of centers rely on financial support from local government for operation. The perception of the staff was the need for operation of these centers by public health facilities such as public health centers and sub-centers. Conclusion: The result suggest a need to activate the function of public institutions to provide domiciliary care for elders. For this new change, the role as a social support system must be developed.

A Study on Role Development for Social Workers Providing Health Center-based Health and Welfare Services for the Elderly in Community (사회복지사의 보건소 노인보건복지사업 참여를 위한 사회복지사 역할개발연구)

  • This study was conducted to, develop the social workers role participating health and welfare services production of health centers The sharp increase rate on the elderly population in Korea lead the social issues as that health and social services are not developed enough to cope with the increase on the elderly's hearth care needs. The priority in the elderly's care service development should be put on public sectors. so that could prevent financial catastrophy of the elderly's care. The pulbic sector was concerned with health center services : as health center in Korea provide :mainly medical-oriented services. this study focused on to combine the existing health center's services into social services. The study method was based on needs survey with 322 patients aged over than 55 in rural area. "The needs survey include general health and disease care needs and daily life caring needs. The latter was applied with ADL and IADL with modificiation for the use of Korea environment. The findings were as follows : Social workers should be able to care diseases of muscular and skeletal. circulatory, digestive and general chronic disease in social service needs. aspect. Mostly the chronic pateints quit their care services because of shortage of finanical support$(18.3\%)$ and transportation problem$(19.5\%)$, but still prefer to be cured and cared from general hospitals. and at least clinic and health centers in community. The univisible dramatic effect. of health. care services also should be concerned and cared by xocial workers. The ADL and! IADL shown the most needs on transportation needs and problems caused by weaken legs. Mostly daily activities were supported by family members $(53.3\%\;spousers\;and\;35.0\%\;children)$, and the most demands were shown on helps for transportation visiting hospitals$(37\%)$ and getting similar care services for health care needs $(31.2\%)$ and daily hygeieal needs$(11.2\%)$ Social workers' role should include health care participation with social and health promotion approach as well as socio-economic supports: during health care receiving. Social workers also should provide social services for the elderly's daily needs solving for these are not in available family supporters.

A study on Efficient operation for Establishment of Passenger ship public transportation system (연안여객선의 대중교통화를 위한 효율적 실행방향 고찰)

  • The purpose of this study is to implement concept of public to passenger ship route to promote benefits and adopt competition principle among ship companies to elevate business efficiency. As of year 2005, passenger ships operate in 106 routes departing from 10 harbors including Mokpo, Masan, and Inchonto provide transportation system to island residents. Contrast to other public transportation systems excluding some tourism routes, this essential passenger ship are unable to fulfill various customer services to the passengers due to stagnation or declination. In addition, route adjustment and flexible passenger ship operation are not expected due to private property right of the route. Therefore, establishment of public transportation system for remote island route is initiated for the connection between cities and islands, boost travel industry of island economy, and balanced growth oh the nation.

A Study on Priority Determination of Policies on the Extension of Public Management System in Coastwise Passenger Transport Services (내항여객운송서비스 공영제 및 준공영제 확대실시를 위한 정책 우선순위 결정에 관한 연구)

  • This study aimed to select and evaluate policy priorities for the expansion of public and semi-public systems for coastwise passenger transport services. For research methodology, the Consistent Fuzzy Preference Relations (CFPR) method was used to effectively extract expert knowledge. First, the result of the analysis on policy tasks for expanding the semi-public system for coastwise passenger transport services showed that "the establishment of public transportation fare system" was the most important task at 0.160. Second, "conversion of the subsidiary routes to a public system by the central government" was ranked next at the importance of 0.136. The factor named "support through proper allocation of budgets between national and local governments" are ranked third (0.119). The results of this study have practical implications in that it proposed the policy priorities for the expansion of the public semi-public systems for coastwise passenger transport services.

  • In the modern society, people can easily reach destination by using the rapidly developed public transportation services. Recently, location information is provided through the network, but this is useless to the weak people on transportation like the handicapped. This paper proposes a bus alert terminal system equipped with the arrival information of public buses based on location information and distance measurement sensor. By using this system, we look forward to providing more convenient and accessible services for the weak people on transportation.

An Estimation of Willingness to Pay for Advanced Public Transportation Services Using SP (선호의식 조사를 활용한 첨단 대중교통 서비스의 지불의사액 추정)

  • In the coming ubiquitous society, the importance of developing advanced public transportation systems (APTS) corresponding to individuals' needs and useful in their daily life is profound. In these regards, the study proposed new APTS services: Free internet access service and On-board real time traffic information service in public modes. A stated preference (SP) survey was performed to investigate individual's preference and willingness-to-pay (WTP) for the proposed APTS services. Multinomial logit models (MNL) incorporating the heterogeneity of respondents were developed to analyze individuals' preference and the difference of WTP. Some results of the study showed that the respondents' preferences were significantly different by in-vehicle travel times (30 min, 60 min) and their socioeconomic background. More respondents prefer new APTS services when invehicle travel time takes longer. For the housewife and self-employed group, the mean WTP for on-board realtime traffic information was higher than that of free internet access services, while for the company employees and students group, the mean WTP was similar in both services.

User Benefit Analysis By Transfer Fare Policy : Focuses on the case of Gyeonggi-do (지역별 대중교통 환승혜택 형평성 개선방안에 관한 연구 : 경기도를 중심으로)

  • Gyeonggi-do comprises several types of areas, including urban, semi-urban, and rural areas. The availability of public transportation services varies depending on the area types, but the fare structure is based on a simple transfer rule, i.e., a transfer is free when completed within 30 minutes. As a result, users in non-urban areas with a poor frequency of public transportation services do not receive transfer discounts because most of the bus routes in these areas have a gap of more than 30 minutes between services. In terms of equality of opportunity, the transfer rule is being applied unfavorably and, as a result, equality of opportunity of the non-urban commuter is severely affected. Therefore, this study analyzed the user benefits mainly stemming from transfer fares using the smart card data of commuters using public transportation in Gyeonggi-do. An index called the beneficiary rate of the free transfer was developed and a scenario analysis was conducted based on the various levels of the rate. The results of this analysis proved that the users of public transportation services in non-urban areas in Gyeonggi-do can only receive transfer benefits by the extended time for free transfer and not by the implementation of a uniform policy irrespective of the type of area. The study also suggested an equitable fare transfer system and policy alternatives.
