Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become a vital instrument for delivering a number of services such as education, healthcare and public services. Community wireless networks are community-centric telecommunication infrastructure developed to provide affordable communication for those who live in remote areas. This chapter discusses the role of Nepal Wireless in achieving socio economic development of rural communities by facilitating affordable Internet access. We analyze the challenges Nepal Wireless faced and articulate on the approaches it took to address those challenges such as lack of technical skills, appropriate technology and funding, difficult geographical terrains, unstable political situation, and expensive devices. In addition, we address the success and failure factors of this community-based ICT4D approach in order to guide similar endeavors. We conclude the chapter by some suggestions for policy makers, community developers, and academicians.
Recently, public home have used a more than two computer connected with network, and several home appliances using independently with internet or network are developing to be related closely with the network. Therefore, the home utilized for a simple terminal of the global network in the past is being expanded to another part of the sub network. For a variety of connecting home-area protocols with the existing existing network, we require a new Residential Gateway(RG) that does not only make the home-area network operating in the sub network but also connects to the external network. In this paper, RG has intrinsic limits against flexible service due to IP address assignment and hardware capacity. In order to solve this problem in the RG, we propose a Management Server(MS). The MS that offers the integrated managements and control services for a variety of devices connected the RG in the home-area. It can not only solve the dynamic IP address assigning problem but also assigns private IP addresses to the home network devices through the Network Address Translation(NAT). It also provides somewhat useful functions for the home network and the RG for other additional services. <중략> The MS is using a SNMP protocol for managing the RG in the domain, a polling method of the MS and the RG compose a sequence polling method, a polling method using a multi-process and a multi-thread. In this paper, we introduce a problem with polling method separately, show a polling method between the MS and the RG using a multi-thread.

Recently, audio systems are changing the configuration of conventional sound reinforcement (SR) systems and public address (PA) systems by using audio over IP (AoIP), a technology that can transmit and receive audio signals based on internet protocol (IP). With the advancement of IP technology, AoIP technologies are leading the audio market and various technologies are being released. In particular, audio networks and control hierarchy over peer-to-peer (Anchor) technology based on AoIP is a system that transmits and receives audio signals over a wide bandwidth without an audio mixer, creating a novel paradigm for existing audio system configurations. Anchor technology forms an audio system by connecting audio sources and output equipment with On-site audio center (OAC), a device that can transmit and receive IP. Anchor's receiving OAC is capable of receiving and mixing audio signals transmitted from different IPs, making it possible to configure a novel audio system by replacing the conventional audio mixer. However, Anchor technology does not have the ability to provide audio effects to input devices such as microphones and instruments in the audio system configuration. Due to this, when individual control of each audio source is required, there is a problem of not being able to control the input signal, and it is impossible to individually affect a specific input signal. In this paper, we implemented a tone control module that can individually control the tone of the audio source of the input device using the audio processor core in the audio system based on Anchor technology, tone control for audio sources is possible through a tone control module connected to the transmitting OAC. As a result of the study, we confirmed that OAC receives the signal from the audio source, adjusts the tone and outputs it on the tone control module. Based on this, it was possible to solve problems that occurred in Anchor technology through transmitting OAC and tone control modules. In the future, we hope that the audio system configuration using Anchor technology will become established as the standard for audio equipment.
The increased number of smart devices leads users to share multimedia contents with others. Smart device users transmit multimedia files using apps. For multimedia file transfer under NAT (Network Address Translator), a lot of apps exploit a server with public IP or short range communication technologies such as WiFi Direct or Bluetooth because smart devices with private IP address cannot communicate each other directly. We first proposed the push service based file transmission scheme without an additional server and distance limitation. Second, for the push service based transmission, we proposed congestion control scheme to adapt transmission rate to the receiver's link bandwidth. Third, we considered bandwidth aware transmission for senders with different bandwidth. We implemented apps to evaluate the proposed scheme, and conducted experiments with smart devices.

Recently, a mobile IPv6 binding update protocol using Address Based Keys (BU-ABK) was proposed. This protocol applies Address Based Keys (ABK), generated through identity-based cryptosystem, to enable strong authentication and secure key exchange without any global security infrastructure. However, because it cannot detect that public cryptographic parameters for ABKs are altered or forged, it is vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks and denial of service attacks. Furthermore, it has heavy burden of managing the public cryptographic parameters. In this paper, we show the weaknesses of BU-ABK and then propose an enhanced BU-ABK (EBU-ABK). Furthermore, we provide an optimization for mobile devices with constraint computational power. The comparison of EBU-ABK with BU-ABK shows that the enhanced protocol achieves strong security while not resulting in heavy computation overhead on a mobile node.
This paper deals with the design and development of the remote control and measurement systems using CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) data modem. We propose a bi-directional data communication link without the public IP address in CDMA modem device by the TCP/IP packet and SMS(Short Message Service) communication. The remote control and measurement systems are implemented by a Telit WM-800 modem as DCE(Data Communication Equipment), and Atmel AT89C51 microcontroller as DTE(Data Terminal Equipment). The user application software for the control and measurement system user, and the firmware software of device drivers for peripherals such as a digital input/output device, AD/DAC(Analog to Digital/Digital to Analog Converter), LCD, and temperature/humidity sensor are written in Microsoft C and Keil C language respectively for further various applications. The experimental result of the proposed control and measurement systems implemented in this paper is evaluated via real-time experiments, which works well as designed.

The BcN is applying from public networks to local networks and each terminal step by step until 2007. By IPv6 network introduction, IP address lack problem can be solved. However, the threats that network attacks of another method can be caused with new problem of network security in IPv6 networks. In this paper, we suggest the traffic analysis tool which analyze IPv6 traffic efficiently to detect/response network attack in IPv6 environment. The implemented IPv6 traffic analysis tool uses IPv6 header to analyze traffic and detect network attacks. Also, we also propose detection algorithm to detect network attacks in IPv6 networks.
Along with the growth of Blockchain, DApp (Distributed Application) is getting attention. As interest in DApp grows, market size continues to grow and many developers participate in development. Many developers are using API(Application Programming Interface) services to mediate Blockchain nodes, such as Infura, for DApp development. However, when using such a service, there is a serious risk that the API service operator can violate the user's privacy by 1 to 1 matching the account address of the Transaction executed by the DApp user with the IP address of the DApp user. It can have an adverse effect on the reliability of public Blockchains that need to provide users with a secure DApp service environment. The proposed Blockchain platform is expected to provide user privacy protection from API services and provide a reliable DApp use environment that existing Blockchain platforms did not provide. It is also expected to help to activate DApp and increase the number of DApp users, which has not been activated due to the risk of an existing privacy breach.

The number of hosts connected to the Internet has increased dramatically, introducing the Domain Name System(DNS) in 1984. DNS is now an important key point for all users of the Internet by allowing them to use a convenient character address without memorizing a series of numbers of complex IP address. However, relative to the importance of DNS, there still exist many problems such as the authorization allocation issue, the disputes over public registration, security vulnerability such as DNS cache poisoning, DNS spoofing, man-in-the-middle attack, DNS amplification attack, and the need for many domain names in the age of hyper-connected networks. In this paper, to effectively improve these problems of existing DNS, we proposed a method of implementing DNS using distributed ledger technology, blockchain, and implemented using a Ethereum-based platform. In addition, the qualitative analysis performance comparative evaluation of the existing domain name registration and domain name server was conducted, and conducted security assessments on the proposed system to improve security problem of existing DNS. In conclusion, it was shown that DNS services could be provided high security and high efficiently using blockchain.
Currently, the commercialization of the $5^{th}$ Generation (5G) service is becoming more prevalent in domestic communication network technology. This has reduced communication delay time and enabled large-capacity data transmission and video streaming services in real-time. In order to keep pace with these developments, K-water has introduced a smart process control system in water purification plants to monitor the status of the water purification process. However, since wireless networks are based on the public Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, communication delay time remains high, and high-resolution video services are limited. This is because communication networks still have a closed structure due to expense and security issues. Therefore, with 5G in its current form, it is very difficult to accommodate future services without improving the infrastructure of its communication networks. In recognition of these problems, this study implemented the authentication and management function of wireless networks on a wired network management system in the K-water Bansong water purification plant. The results confirmed that wired Local Area Network (LAN) services give a higher security performance than an expensive commercial wireless LAN system. This was achieved by using an Internet Protocol (IP) address management system of wired networks and the packet filtering function of the Layer2 (L2) switch. This study also confirmed that it is possible to create a wireless LAN service that is 3.7 times faster than the existing LTE communication network.
