This study was intended to provide basic data for increasing the interest in health projects for the public servants and local residents in the period ahead by examining the difference in the degree of interest in health projects among the public servants at resident centers and the residents. For that, 46 public servants at resident centers and 107 local residents were sampled, and their degree of interest in specific health projects was analyzed based on Chi-Square and independent sample t-test. Based on comprehensive consideration of the results of analysis, public servants at resident centers were found to have lower interest in health projects than local residents. The results of this study showed that the public servants at resident centers had lower interest in health projects than local residents. That arises from the consideration that specialization is important for implementation of special works. Thus, this study needs to focus on expanding the role of public servants to ensure that resident centers can take on integrated role related to public health. Therefore, the results of this study can provide basic data for expanding the role of public servants at resident centers. Moreover, the results of this study suggested that various ways need to be explored to increase the interest in health projects for local residents.
This study was conducted to investigate and compare the degree of professional self -concept (PSC) of the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners (PMHNP) in hospitals and public health centers and to identify the factors predicting PSC of them, in order to provide basic data for developing PSC increasing program PSC. The 355 PMHNP were sampled from the university or general hospitals. mental hospitals, community mental health centers and public health centers across the country. The scales used in this study were PSCNI by Arthur (1990), PSI by Heppner & Petersen (1982) and the Index of work satisfaction by Slavitt et al. (1978). The results of the study were as follows : 1. The average item score of PSCNI of PMHNP in hospitals was $2.83\pm0.27$, and that of PMHNP in public health centers was $2.76\pm0.28$. There was significantly different between two groups (p=0.0202) 2. A comparison of the scores for the dimensions of the PSCNI were as follows ; the mean item score of professional practice of nurses in hospital was $2.90\pm0.30$, and that in public health centers was $2.83\pm0.35$. There were significant differences between two groups in the scores of professional practices (p=0.0315), leadership (p=0.0071) and skills (p=0.0231). 3. There were significant differences between two groups according to education (p=0.0057) with no significant interaction effect of group and education. 4. Job satisfaction (JS) was the highest factor predicting PSC of PMHNP in hospitals $(34.5\%)$, and problem solving inventory score (PS) was the highest factor predicting PSC of PMHNP in public health centers $(33.6\%)$. JS and PS accounted for $42.6\%$ in PSC of PMHNP in hospitals. and PS, JS, age, marital status, religion, and career accounted for $57.6\%$ in PSC of PMHNP in public health centers. In the light of these results. to gam the professional self-concept. nurses should be educated continuously through role modeling in clinical nursing and research. Also, nurse educators and administrators need to develop programs and policies to increase professional self-concept of nurses, particularly of community PMHNP.
A systematic health promotion project had been carried out for 3 months (from May 13 to August 4, 1996) in collaboration with nurses of a health center, professors and students of colleges of nursing, and members of senior centers in the community. The outcome was fairly positive : new techniques of public health nurses for health promotion services were developed and those, among the members of senior centers, who had a power of mobility made much progress in their maintenance and enhancement of health through the active use of health equipment. Through this project, we could reconfirm that desirable policies were fundamental tactics for the promotion of health : comprehensive approach to health promotion services, if provided with more or less financial support, would contribute greatly to the activation of public health services by the local administrative organizations.

The purpose of this study is to examine the status quo of the networking between health promotion and other programs conducted by public health centers(PHCs), and to develop concrete strategies for improving the efficiency of the health promotion programs at PHCs. Data were collected from a questionnaire survey for 246 PHCs nationwide and 96 questionnaire were returned(response rate of 39%). A focus group study was also conducted to compliment the detail of the networking system between health promotion and other programs at PHCs. The results revealed that the current networking between health promotion and other programs conducted by public health centers is not working well. Especially, the communication networking between health promotion and other programs at planning stage is poorer than the stages of implementation, performance, and evaluation. The main reasons of the poor networking have been caused by an inadequate organizational structure, inefficient information system, low level of motivation for networking among the staff of PHCs, and no concrete guidelines for networking. This study also suggested several strategies to facilitate the cooperation between health promotion and other programs.
This study aimed to investigate predictors of turnover intention of home visiting nurses at 16 public health centers in Busan. There are two groups of independent factors: non-work related(i. e., age, educational level, working duration as nurses in hospitals, and certificate), and work related factors(i. e., working duration as nurses in public health centers, working duration as home visiting nurse, position, number of households visited per week, workload, cooperation among staff, support by supervisors, supply of vehicles, and supply of materials). Data were collected with self-administrated questionnaires which consisted of 4 items of non-work related factors, 9 items of work related factors, and 1 item of turnover intention to other department. Data were analyzed using an univariate logistic regression and multiple logistic regression. According to the results, heavy workload (Yes vs No, OR=4.31, $95\%$ CI=1.16-16.04) was the most powerful predictor on the turnover intention. In conclusion. this result was similar to those of other studies on the predictors of turnover intention of clinical nurses at hospitals. To decrease the turnover intention among home visiting nurses at public health centers in Busan, alleviating the workload is needed.
Purpose: The purposes of this study are: to evaluate the effectiveness of organizations engaged in MCH programs; and to suggest the executive organizational system of maternal and child health (MCH) services linked to HP services at public health centers. Method: This study analyzes data on the present conditions and evaluates the organizational effectiveness of MCH workers at public health centers nationwide. The organizational effectiveness of MCH organization is assessed by MCH workers. Finally, this study seeks to obtain consensus among experts in the field of MCH. Result: The results are as follows. Of public health centers, 61.9% have a MCH organization for their MCH programs. For the other 38.2%, MCH services are undertaken by HP organization. Executive organizational systems for MCH services at leading MCH health centers are classified into three types: Type I (provides MCH and HP services through MCH organizations); Type II (provides MCH and HP Services through HP organizations) ; and Type III (provides MCH services through MCH organizations and HP services through HP organizations). The evaluation of the organizational effectiveness of MCH organizations shows that Type II is the most effective in terms of teamwork, autonomy, service quality and resource utilization. Conclusion: This study suggests that executive organizations for MCH and HP services for women and children should be established in accordance with lifetime health programs in order for public health centers to utilize the limited MCH and HP resources efficiently.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify nursing interventions performed by public health nurses in health centers. Method: Data was collected by the taxonomy of Nursing Intervention Classification(NIC 3rd: 486 nursing interventions) from 131 public health nurses in health centers and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Result: As its result, more than 50% of public health nurses performed 137 nursing interventions at least monthly. The most frequently used intervention class was 'activity and exercise management', followed by 'physical comfort promotion', 'community health promotion', 'life span care', 'coping assistance', 'Self care facilitation', 'information management', 'nutrition support', 'community risk management' and 'patient education'. One hundred twenty nursing interventions were rarely performed by 90% or more of the nurses. Most of them were the physical complex domain. Conclusion: In conclusion, 137 interventions were performed by public health nurses at least monthly. NIC is helpful to build a standardized language for public health nursing.
On the stage of transition from highly centralized government to local self-government in Korea, administrating practice characteristics of the directors of Health Centers is essentially required to be found. This study was conducted in order to find the administration patte군 of the directors of Health Centers in Korea and their opinion on the environment of health administration including personnel management regime for them. The materials were collected from 149 directors of Health Centers with a structured questionaire by mailing. The major findings of this study were as follows. 1. About two-thirds of the directors(69.1%) make plan through the consensus between public service perosonnel in programme department and them in budgt control department. And 75.0% of the directors maintain the planed by the predecessor. 2. More than two-thirds of the directors (71.1%) take subordinates opinion into consideration in case of the programmes facing objections. 3. When the directors face obstacles in pursuing health programmes they usually consult other public service personnel than inhabitants. 4. Only 10.8% of the directors were satisfied with the support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for health administration while more than half of them were satisfied with the support of health institution in higher level. 5. The directors evaluated the job attitude of the public service personnel in low level as more favorable than that of there higher level public service personnel who work for central government. 6. Only 18.1% of the idrectors were satisfied with their saley. And more than half of them expect the promotion of their position. On the ground of this result the administration attitude of the directors of Health Centers would be evaluated as improved and as more positive than that of other public service personnel in health authorities. However, they are required to consult the inhabitants more frequently for health administration. An the public service personnel in high level who work for central government are required to improve their job attitude.

Purpose: The role and facilities of public health centers responsible for local health are becoming increasingly important due to recurring infectious diseases such as COVID-19. With sudden outbreaks of infectious diseases, the infrastructure of public health center facilities like screening clinics are constructed varies depending on local conditions. resulting in discrepancies between intended usage and actual usage. Establishing guidelines for infectious disease response facilities that can be efficiently used within local communities is necessary. Methods: Field surveys are conducted at 6 public health centers to gather insights into the essential rooms, circulation patterns, and key considerations for space planning in screening clinics. Results: Ten design considerations emerge from the data, including spatial requirements, circulation guidelines, and considerations for accommodating diverse user needs and local conditions. Implications: Further research is needed to translate these guidelines into prototypes of temporary facilities.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to suggest new directions for public health programs in rural and remote areas. Method: For this purpose, a literature review was done including articles, research reports, and master theses and doctoral dissertations. Results: Public health programs in rural remote areas were found to be very insufficient in terms of professional personnel and program diversity. Especially, there is a lack of adequate manpower and infra-structure in the public health sub-centers at the township and sub county level. Although community health practitioners at the village level are providing public health service beyond medical care, their coverage rate is very low. Conclusion: The results suggest a need to strengthen the function of public health sub-centers to provide comprehensive public health service based on the life-cycle approach. For this new change, legal and political support must be developed.
