Objective: The objectives of this study are to report the number of humidifier disinfectant (HD) associated health problems, including HD associated lung injury (HDLI), by year. This data was analyzed by the type of HD and HD brand. Methods: A total of 530 patients registered with the national program on HD through its third round were distributed based on the year when they developed their first health problem including HDLI (N=221). The distribution of health problems at diagnosis was clinically evaluated in order to examine the association between their lung injury and the use of HD. Results: The number of HD associated victims and HDLI patients was found to rise sharply from 2008 to 2011, with a peak in 2011. This trend was found not only for HD brands containing polyhexamethylene guanidine phosphate (PHMG), but also chloromethylisothiazolinone/methylisothiazolinone (CMIT/MIT). The number of patients who responded as developing health problems in the specific year was 35 for 2008, 51 for 2009, 108 for 2010 and 182 for 2011. Other types of HD brands and HD chemicals did not follow the trend of abrupt increase in HD associated patients since 2008. Conclusion: This study found the number of HD associated victims and HDLI patients who used HD brands containing PHMG sharply increased starting in 2008. A significant change in the process of manufacturing PHMG can be suspected with the abrupt rise in HD associated patients in specific years.
Overflowing of fashion information that is derived from the development of various mass media has rather hindered adopters from appropriately screening fashion information. Thus, responsibilities of fashion journalists who play a role of communicating fashion information have become heavier. Fashion journalism may be defined as 'delivery of modes and involvement in production and logistics'. Since it connects fashion and culture industries with the public by reflecting fashion from diversified perspectives, the role of fashion journalism should never be overlooked in terms of culture as well as industry. This study analyzes fashion journalism from fashion-advanced country by reviewing the fashion journalism from the US, which is so-called fashion-advanced country and analyzing the contents of Vogue USA. This study made a historical review of fashion journalism through a reference study, and from a total of 24 volumes of Vogue USA from January 2004 through December 2005 classified articles by functions, tones, contents, and brands, pictorial records by functions, images, and brands, and ads by brands, quantitatively analyzing them. Further, through a case study it explored those articles and pictorial records which featured national characteristics in the USA, and examined how the fashion journalism in the USA imaged the fashion in the country. In addition, it tried to elicit the characteristics of fashion in the USA as a conclusion by categorizing those images while reviewing previous studies. The results show that Vogue USA features American fashion definitely. Thus, consequently it is easy to find images of American fashion in pictorial records, let alone categorizing them.
The present study observes collaboration methods in which 3D printing was a part of the fashion manufacturing process, expression methods of such cases, and their ripple effects. As a result, the three types of collaborations between fashion designers and other industry fields, fashion brands and 3D printing companies, and fashion designers and artists. Case analysis results and ripple effects found according to each collaboration method were as follows. First, in collaborations found were between fashion designers and other industry fields, 3D printed fashion works with futuristic images were seen through the fusion of future industries, which claim to support cutting edge digital technology, and creative fashion design. As they were mainly collaborations between automobile industries with cutting edge images or digital related industries and fashion designers, they were expressed as a new form of experimental clothing, and were used as strategies to improve future corporate images of the high tech industry. Second, in collaborations between fashion brands and 3D printing technology businesses, the sporting good brands and the shoe industry attempted to let their products be known through the promotion of functional material or ergonomic technology. While they emphasize practicality by mainly using flexible material, they were mainly proposed as functional sporting goods for famous players or as shoe accessories, so methods are still used for public distribution as brand promoting marketing strategies. Third, with collaborations between fashion designers and artists, creative pieces were shown through the grafting of 3D printing technology, the artistry of artists, and the experimentation of fashion designers. In particular, the innovative value of fashion as art was created through the union of the artistic 3D modeling technology support of artists and the creativity of designers. Like this, 3D printing fashion can graft the cutting edge nature of fashion to other industry fields through collaborations, enhancing pacesetting images, and in the fashion field, it can improve possibilities for innovations in the fashion industry through the support of 3D printing technology businesses and artists, raising expectations towards future human living.
This study examined the effect of brand trait transference under the premise that if the public images of advertisement model have influences on the brand through advertisements, the brand image traits will also affect the advertisement model in reverse. For the external validity of the research, TV commercials as well as print Ads were made for this experiment with currently active real brands and real celebrity endorser through pre-test. Research was conducted with 8 groups which was designed 4 Ad exposure situations(1 control group & 3 brand Ads) X 2 models(celebrity vs non-celebrity). As a result, the effects of brand trait transference were more notably observed in the cases of a noncelebrity endorser than in celebrity endorser. All the brand image traits of selected brands in the experiment(good-natured, of high-class, energetic) were transferred to the noncelebrity endorser, while some selective traits were transferred to celebrity endorser who already had a solid public image.
This study examined trends in model perceptions in the Asian fashion industry through a survey on the current status of using models, model attributes, and image recognition for companies and brands participating in the Seoul Fashion Week and Hong Kong Fashion Week. The results of the study are as follows. First, an examination of the races of models used for public relations by clothing and accessory companies indicated that the use of Asian and black models was lower than white models. Second, intimacy, reliability, similarity, and professionalism were derived as attributes for a public relation model. Among these factors, only 'intimacy' showed a difference between the countries. Third, Seoul Fashion Week participants gave the highest marks for the strong individuality of the models used for their brands; however, participants in the Hong Kong Fashion Week most appreciated suitability with products and professional appearance. Fourth, the different trends of model image recognition were shown through various analysis results by country or race, in which Seoul Fashion Week participants highly perceived the global and luxurious image of white models, and were generally highly satisfied with the models. In terms of the Hong Kong Fashion Week, Asian models tended to be perceived as a more casual image, and the participants held contributions to brand recognition as the most significant factor when using Asian models.
Purpose: Contemporary consumers are increasingly adopting public displays of their loyalty towards brands: consumer dedication surpasses loyalty in that they find various ways to show their devotion to their favorite brands. The purpose of the current study is to utilize sports psychology to improve customer experience in the sports shops. Research design, data and methodology: To investigate the purpose of the study and suggest the solutions, Epistemology methods were used to analyze the nature of knowledge and various forms of attaining knowledge. As such, epistemology asks questions such as "what are constitutes of valid knowledge?". Results: This study figured out five theoretical results to suggest for practitioners in the sports retail shop based on prior research. According to the research, sports psychology can affect consumer buying behavior which builds upon specific demographics and their differentiating behavior. The results also show that males shop with specificity, while female consumers are likely to shop for pleasure. Men are also less frequent shoppers than women. Conclusions: Above all, this study concludes that a consumer decision-making study is vital in the sports retail business, and information about consumer decision-making can be an influential factor for sports retailers to increase their competitive advantage.
As consumption pattern and fashion communication become digitalized, fashion houses are being inherited by creative directors owing to their expanding role. While the roles and responsibilities of creative directors have been changing extensively along with the dynamic nature of the fashion industry, researches on creative directions have mostly focused on luxury brands. This study examined the creative direction of John Galliano for Maison Margiela, a conceptual brand to be maintained by a creative director. To analyze this, the authors established a creative direction analysis model constituting five elements: brand heritage, trend, democratization, brand status, and persona, drawing on the luxury brand architecture by Kapferer and Bastien. Thus, Galliano has maintained anonymity as a heritage of Maison Margiela, expanding the existing Replica lines, and introduced fashion shows focusing on current issues or social phenomena. As a democratization strategy, he directed the brand to associate with more popular brands or expanded diffusion lines to secure broader customer base, while demonstrating couturier-like showmanship in the media and establishing his own persona. His direction for Maison Margiela recreates and expands brand heritage by transforming the brand philosophy. Therefore the new creative direction communicates with the wider public and diversifies customer bases through democratization strategies, while building Galliano's own persona.
Even though place-marketingstrategies geared towards upgrading regional competitiveness have been brought to the forefront, due attention has not given to how to set up practical and viable strategies. Based on Geoff Coyle's ACTIFELD method, this study aims at formulating a series of implementation strategies of Jeungpyeong Place-Marketing. As the ACTIFELD technique contains intrinsic devices which would facilitate structural and systematic approach, it can easily encompass both qualitative and quantitative factors in reinterpreting complicated social phenomena and providing feasible alternatives. Furthermore, the study carries out additional public opinion surveys and expert brainstorming methods, as specific means to overcome relative weak points within the proposed ACTIFELD approach. The followings are major research findings. Firstly, in terms of maximizing existing strategies, Jeungpyeong should develop commercial items focused on Korean Ginseng and its byproducts. Secondly, among various festivals, Jeungpyeong should devise concrete processes to concurrently concentrate its support on Pork (Samgyupsal) and Korean Ginseng Festivals. Thirdly, as the majority of Jeungpyeong people prefers both do-it-your-self and traditional types, Jeungpyeong should prepare appropriate governance systems to deal with these issues. Fourthly, in order to contribute regional vitality, Jeungpyeong should strengthen public relation activities including guest-staying facilities. Lastly, Jeungpyeong should constantly improve the aggregate value of County Identity (CI)-based brands and it should also pursue production and public relation strategies actively applying the elderly.
The purpose of this study is to explore the context dependencies of perceived product typicality and favorableness led by typicality. Major findings and their marketing implications are as follow. First of all, while the typicality effect were evident in simle choice sets which consist of typical product and atypical one, entrance of extreme atypical product eroded the favorableness toward typical product. This implies that competitive advantage of pioneering typical brand can not be sustained when choice set is enlarged with entrance of distinctive atypical brands. Secondly, adding attractive and unattractive common attributes to all the products in choice set reduced the difference among perceived typicality of alternative brands. But added attractive common feature was analyzed to enhance favorableness of both typical brand and extreme atypical product. This finding implies that brands should have distinctive identity to be benefited from competitive adding features among brands with the evolution of market. Finally, when consumers expect to provide the explanation and justification for their evaluations and choices to others, they are shown to prefer and choose typical product which is effective to explain their reasons and to persuade others for their choice. This can be interpreted as consumers favor and choose conventional typical alternatives when they should justify their decision to others as with symbolic and expressive products and public and organizational buying.

The current study initiated from an action-plan level perspective of revitalizing Green IT (Information Technology) in Korea by building a standardized national Green IT brand. In order to setting up a national level brand, there should be a big quantitative survey for identifying Green IT brand concepts. For this, the current study provides exploratory research results based on preliminary interviews and literature survey before the quantitative survey. The present article suggests a research framework and describes important factors for setting up a national level Green IT brand. In-depth interviews with panels were executed and existing Green IT brands in other countries are summarized and asked for evaluation to a small number of panels. The research results show that (1) National level Green IT brand should include wider concepts of IT, (2) Green IT brand will be more appealed by the public when it is simple, straightforward, and intuitive, (3) Earth, Tree, and/or Water show higher correlation with Green IT concepts. Green IT brand will offer marketing promotion effects to companies who adopt national level Green IT brand as well as increase public use of Green IT in daily life. For this reason, Green IT brand will be a win-win strategy and this should be cared and executed by the related government agencies with long term perspective.
