함정의 실내소음 허용기준 설정을 위한 청감평가 및 분석 (Psycho-acoustic Evaluation and Analysis of the Indoor Noise in Cabins of a Naval Vessel to Specify its Allowable Limit)

  • The noise inside a naval vessel is very important in considering the need for hearing protection, improving the working environment and maintaining good communications for crews living on board a naval vessel. The indoor noise of a ship usually is specified by the A-weighted sound pressure level, but other evaluating parameters are required to reflect human senses more effectively. This paper uses additional noise indices related to room acoustics, such as NR(noise rating), NC(noise criterion), RC(room criterion), PSIL(preferred speech interference level) and loudness level to evaluate the noise inside cabins on a naval vessel. Using these psychological noise indices, allowable limit of noise level in cabins is suggested through psycho-acoustic evaluation for the noise in cabins.

  • Presently, there is the dilemma of uncertainty with respect to the evaluation of sound and vibration based on the fact that there is obviously no agreement upon appropriate methods to measure the "truth" concerning the acceptance of sound and vibration. To evaluate properly physical and perception data in sound and vibration it is necessary to implement new methods and innovative approaches to understand the input of human response in sound design. Fortunately, an elaborate dialogue of the usefulness and applicability of those approaches is in progress. Moreover, the need of using and combining perception and physical data in order to comprehend the process of human perception and evaluation sufficiently is widely accepted. However, still the question remains how the goal of an adequate combination can be achieved. Clearly, themultidimensional human perception cannot be easily reduced to singular numbers. Moreover, factors, among others the meaning of the sound, the composition of the diverse sound sources, the listener's attitude, expectations and experiences, are significant parameters which have to be considered to comprehend the different perceptions and evaluations with regard to specific stimuli. Taking under consideration the physical, psychological, and cognitive dimensions as well as the integration of aspects of design require partially various new approaches. While binaural measurement and analysis technologies and psycho-acoustics are well established as they are proved to be valuable auxiliary tools; it has not been achieved to develop generally acceptable measurement units concerning sound quality. Consequently, there is a need for new approaches and methods which make it possible to comprehend sufficiently the process of perception and evaluation. Going with people's mind will be one solution for the future; thisconcept will be introduced based on the development in sound design.

조경요소의 영상을 이용한 도로교통소음 인지도의 심리적인 저감효과에 대한 연구 (Psychological Reduction Effect of Road Traffic Noise Perception by the Visual Information of Landscape components)

  • The influence of the visual information on the sound perception would be considerable. Furthermore, if the sound perception ranges in noisiness or annoyance beyond the loudness, it will depend much more on the shape of the visual information. This paper aims to estimate the influence of the several kinds of visual information on the perception of road traffic noise by means of the psycho-acoustic test method. The findings of present study on the influence of visual information on subjective noise perception are summarized as follows: Presenting visual images of mild and comfortable scenery reduced the noise perception reaction at the less noisy environments not exceeding 65 dB(A). At highly noisy environments exceeding 65 dB(A), however, the noise perception can be reduced by strong image of waterfall. Even eliminating the road traffic image may be helpful. Visual image of waterfall reduced the noise perception at all levels. It is inferred that the road traffic noise perception can be effectively ameliorated by presenting strong and real landscape images at any noisy environment.

가청화를 이용한 돔형 체조연습장의 음향 성능평가에 관한 연구 (Evaluation of Acoustic Performance about Dome-typed Gymnastics Training Floor Using Auralization)

  • In case of indoor gymnastics training floor, in view of its characteristics, since it is simultaneously required the related smooth communication between the coach and the player, also the acoustic performance regarding to the clearness of music, besides the sport activity, the consideration about the acoustic character has entered the stage as an indispensable element. On such viewpoint, recently constructed dome-typed gymnastic training floor was optimized acoustic design with remodeling through acoustic simulation test. And acoustic satisfaction degree and reaction was attempted to investigate about the gymnastics training floor estimating value of human's psychological(sensual) degree using auralization that enables to experience the virtual sound field at the stage of design. As the result of investigation about the research on the space of object, it could be known that the valuation regarding to the acoustic performance of 'after-improvement' was distinctly more refined than that of 'before-improvement'. It is now considering that such result of the study can be utilized as the useful data which enables to improve the retrenchment effect of the construction cost as well as the acoustic capability, by means of the prediction control on the acoustic problem from the stage of design, for the occasion when the similar indoor sport gymnasium is planning to build for the near future.

승용차의 고급감 음질에 대한 연구 (Research for High Sound Quality for a Passenger Car)

  • Future luxury car must satisfy the improvement of the luxury sound quality on the vehicle interior noise. Previously, we have analyzed vehicle interior noise by dB(A) based analysis. However, dB(A) has very little to do with the psychological satisfaction of the consumers. People want a sound that is characteristic and refined not a sound that is quiet and common. Subjective test were conducted to determine the relationship between subject' s responses and calculated metric values. People choose the most luxury sound among the various vehicle interior noise. And the purpose of this study is that we understand the metrics which constitute the luxury vehicle sound. We have analyzed vehicle interior noise by using the statistical analysis such as multiple regression method and correlation method. And we organized the index of the luxury sound quality.

음성압축 방식의 변화가 한국어 단음절 숫자 인지기능에 미치는 영향의 비교 연구 (Comparative Studies of Perceiving Korean Monosyllabic Digit Words under Different Speech Compression Schemes)

  • 다양한 음성 압축방식이 여러 분야에서 광범위하게 사용되고 있으며 그 심리음향적 인지결과는 대상 언어의 특성과 압축 방식에 따라서 다를 수가 있다. 한국어에서도 이러한 인지 결과를 비교하는 정량적인 자료가 관련된 임상이나 응용 분야에서 필요하지만 구체적인 내용이 확인되어 있지 않다. 본 연구에서는 통제된 언어적 특성을 갖는 0에서 9까지 한국어 단음절 숫자 들이 무작위로 조합되는 다섯 쌍 조합(quintet set)을 대상으로 하여 자주 사용되는 세가지 대표적인 음성 압축방식의 특성을 비교 분석하였다. 비교 기준으로는 기존의 연구에서 분석 정리된 시간과 주파수 정보가 모두 일정하게 변화되는 PNT (Preserving No Trait) 압축에서 얻은 자료를 비교 근거로 선정하였다. 이를 기준으로 하여 동일한 조건의 정상인 그룹에서 심리음향적 피치(pitch) 정보가 주로 보전되는 PPT (Preserving Pitch Trait), 시간 정보가 주로 보전되는 PTT (Preserving Time Trait) 압축방식의 인지 결과를 기록하고 분석하였다(N=20). 본 연구 결과에서 얻어진 자료를 보면, 정보의 압축비율이 높을 수록 심리음향학적으로 중요한 주파수 정보(피치)를 보전하는 것이 인지도 측면에서 가장 유리한 것으로 나타났다(PPT>PTT>PNT). 또한, 세가지 압축방법에서 50% 인지율을 보이는 압축률의 역치도 PPT가 20%, PTT가 42%, PNT가 44% 순으로 나타났다. 따라서 인지도 측면에서만 살펴보면 본 조건에서는 PPT 압축 방식이 가장 우수한 것으로 추정되었다. 이러한 숫자 자극을 이용한 평가 방법은 향후 새로운 압축 방식의 효율성과 인지도 측면을 비교 가능하게 하며, 이를 이용하면, 청각정보처리기능을 진단하거나 압축 관련 특수 보청기 적합 재활에서 정량적인 지표를 제공하는 도구로도 사용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
