Objectives : The aim of this study is to report the effect of Traditional Korean Medicine Including SaengRyoSaMultang-Gamibang and Hwangryunhaedok-tang Herbal-Acupuncture on the treatment of psoriasis. Methods : A patient with psoriasis was treated with SaengRyoSaMultang-Gamibang, Hwangryunhaedok-tang Herbal-Acupuncture, Aroma therapy, Acupuncture. The severity of psoriasis was assessed with Psoriasis Area and Severity Index(PASI). Results : After treatment, the patient showed that itching symptoms was disappeared and score of PASI changed from 23.4 to 2.9. Conclusions : According to the result, These findings suggest that Traditional Korean Medicine can be effective for the treatment of psoriasis.

Objective The object of this case report is to evaluate the possibility of utilizing Osuyu-tang as a new therapy of psoriasis.Method Diagnosis and Psoriasis' progress was evaluated based on the patient's chart and picture. Diagnosis based on Sanghanlun was organized by graph. The severity of psoriasis' progress was evaluated by Psoriasis Area Severity Index(PASI) and visually analyzed through picture.Results On PASI and picture, we could confirm psoriasis’s area was decreased from hairline to middle of forehead and redness, thickness, scale of psoriasis also got better.Conclusion Osuyu-tang is efficient to patient of this case report as a treatment.

Objectives: To observe safety and efficacy of herbal medicine for psoriasis patients. Methods: We did retrospective chart review for 107 psoriasis patients who had been treated by herbal medicine for 2 months, and we analyzed the liver function test (LFT) results and Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) scores of before and after the treatment. Results: The mean LFT and the number of patients with abnormal LFT decreased after the treatments. More than 95% of patients with normal LFT maintained normal results at after the treatment, and only 2.1% and 4.6% patients with normal LFT showed abnormal Glutamic Oxaloacetic Transaminase (GOT) and Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase (GPT) results at after the treatment. Also, both mean PASI scores for all patients and patients with abnormal LFT before the treatment decreased significantly. Conclusions: This study suggest that herbal medicine may be safe and effective treatment for psoriasis.

Objectives: This study aimed to report the efficacy of Korean medicine with Jeongri-tang Gagam-bang for treating psoriasis. Methods: A patient with psoriasis was treated with Jeongri-tang Gagam-bang (正理湯加減方). Moreover, acupuncture was performed on CV12 (中脘) and both sides of ST25 (天樞), GV20 (百會), LI4 (合谷), and LR3 (太衝) for 15 minutes. Psoriasis severity was assessed using the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI). Pruritis and dyspepsia intensities were ranked on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS) of 0–10. Results: After treatment, the PASI changed from 21.6 to 1.6. Patient's pruritus had almost disappeared and dyspepsia had improved. Conclusions: This study shows that Jeongri-tang Gagam-bang (正理湯加減方) and acupuncture on CV12 (中脘), ST25 (天樞), GV20 (百會), LI4 (合谷), and LR3 (太衝) might be helpful to treat psoriasis symptoms by improving digestive function.

A Reports were done on proriasis which were treated bv medications of Sasang Constitution and Constitution-Acupunture in Dept. surgery, opthalmology & otolaryngology, college of Oriental Medicine, Kyungsan University, Pohang, Korea, from May 30. 2000 to JUN 30 2001. we gave score and checked involvement, plaque, erythematous popules, invasiveness according to psoriasis area and severity index. The results were as follows: 1. Sasang Constitution classification was Soyanggin 11($93.33\%$), Taeumgin 1($6.67\%$) in the 15 cases, Hyungbangsabaeksan is used in 9 cases($60\%$), Yanggeuksanhoatang is used in 3cases($13.11\%$), Geopungchunggisan is used in 3 cases($20\%$), Hyungbangdojucksan is used in 1 case($6.57\%$) 2. In the 9 cases, we checked for over 4 weeks, clinical severity of involvement, plaque, total score(psoriasis area and severity index) was siginificantly decreased(p <0.05), clinical severity of erythematous popules, itching was decreased but It is not siginificant(p>0.05). 3. The mean duration of treatmemt was 73.3 days, result of Excellent or Good improvement was showed on over 120 days. These results indicate that Sasang Constitution and Constitution-Acupuncture treatment is effective on psoriasis and the more study is needed.

Objective : The aim of this study is to report the effect and safety of Traditional Korean Medicine on the treatment of erythrodermic psoriasis which appeared after stopping high potency topical steroids. Methods : A patient with psoriasis stopped topical steroids after the first outpatient care and was treated with herbal medicine, acupuncture, moxibustion for eight months. The severity of psoriasis was assessed with Psoriasis Area and Severity Index. Liver and renal functions were tested to observe the hepatic and renal toxicity of the treatment. Results : PASI score were 6.2 on the first visit and three months after it increased to 30 and the patient showed symptoms of erythrodermic psoriasis. And seven months after the first visit, it decreased to 0.6. There was no hepatic and renal toxicity of the treatment. Conclusion : These findings suggest that Traditional Korean Medicine might be effective and safe for the treatment of erythrodermic psoriasis.

Background : The purpose of this study is to analyze research trends on the korean medical treatment and develop the way of psoriasis cure. Object & Method : This study is based on analysis of recent paper about korean medical treatment of psoriasis using WKUCL(Wonkwang University Central Library) and NDSL(National Discovery for Science Leader). I searched papers using the keyword "Psoriasis". Inclusion criteria was last 13 years. Result : A total 19 studies were found. They turned out to be effective treatment methods of acupuncture, moxibustion, internal medicines, external applications, and evaluation tool of PASI(psoriasis area and severity index). Conclusion : According to the results, korean medical treatments have good effects on psoriasis. If we accumulate the more clinical reports, it will be helpful to map out a systematic treatment of korean medicine on psoriasis.

Objectives The purpose of these 3 cases study is to report the effects of psoriasis children treated by oriental medicine. Methods The subjects are 3 children diagnosed as having psoriasis. These patients were treated by oriental herbal medicine(Bangpungtongsungsan). We observed the improvement of skin condition by Psoriasis Area and Severity Index(PASI) score. Results After treatment, the symptoms of psoriasis were relieved. PASI score of three children in psoriasis was respectively changed from 7 to 0, 2.4 to 0, 3.6 to 0. Conclusions This study shows that Bangpungtongsungsan can be an effective treatment for psoriasis. Further study in needed with more cases of treatment.

Psoriasis, which is characterized by the covering of silver-white scaliness and various Sizes of redness with clear boundary, is an intractable skin disease that repeats aggravation and remission. The objective of the present clinical report is to demonstrate that oriental medical treatment after differentiation of syndromes is effective in treating psoriasis, an intractable skin disease. For this purpose, we identified the pattern of three psoriasis patients based on blood heat and viscous blood, and applied acupuncture and herbal medicine to them. The effect of treatment was evaluated using PASI (psoriasis area and severity index). In all of the three cases, the results of treatment were satisfactory. Thus, oriental medical treatment after differentiation of syndromes, which is highly effective without side effect, is considered to make a great contribution to the treatment of psoriasis in the future.

Objectives The purpose of this case study is to report the effect of concurrent administration of Danguieumja-gagambang and external treatments on childhood psoriasis. Methods The subject is a child with psoriasis. This patient was treated with oriental herbal medicine (Danguieumjagagambang) and external treatments. The improvement of the skin condition is observed by Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) score. Results After the treatment, the symptoms of psoriasis were relieved. PASI score of this child went down from 4.7 to 0. Conclusions This study showed that concurrent administration of Danguieumja-gagambang and external treatments can be an effective choice for psoriasis.
