A Study on Pseudo-Range Correction Modeling in order to Improve DGNSS Accuracy (DGNSS 위치정확도 향상을 위한 PRC 보정정보 모델링에 관한 연구)

  • We studied on pseudo-range correction(PRC) modeling in order to improve differential GNSS(DGNSS) accuracy. The PRC is the range correction information that provides improved location accuracy using DGNSS technique. The digital correction signal is typically broadcast over ground-based transmitters. Sometimes the degradation of the positioning accuracy caused by the loss of PRC signals, radio interference, etc. To prevent the degradation, in this paper, we have designed a PRC model through polynomial curve fitting and evaluated this model. We compared two quantities, estimations of PRC using model parameters and observations from the reference station. In the case of GPS, the average is 0.1m and RMSE is 1.3m. Most of GPS satellites have a bias error of less than ${\pm}1.0m$ and a RMSE within 3.0m. In the case of GLONASS, the average and the RMSE are 0.2m and 2.6m, respectively. Most of satellites have less than ${\pm}2.0m$ for a bias error and less than 3.0m for RMSE. These results show that the estimated value calculated by the model can be used effectively to maintain the accuracy of the user's location. However;it is needed for further work relating to the big difference between the two values at low elevation.

  • This paper designs an integrated navigation system that uses the signals from both GPS satellites and pseudolites. While GPS satellite clocks are synchronized, pseudolite clocks are not exactly synchronized even though pseudolite can use 1PPS signal from the GPS receiver. This can cause large range error and can be solved by transmitting the correction information. Assuming that the positions of pseudolites are known, it is possible to determine the true range between two pseudolites. GPS Anomaly Analysis and Pseudorange Accuracy Improvement by Anomalous Satellite Elimination

  • GPS anomaly has increased according to the degradation of satellite performance, and many GPS users could be exposed to any kinds of error-included signals without any previous notice when unscheduled error occurred. RSIM (Reference Station Integrity Monitors) is a typical monitoring method to broadcast PRC (Pseudo Range Correction) for users. However, there were some cases that the receiver detected the anomalous satellite's signal even though it was unhealthy set, consequently it occurred a large range error. Then it is important to monitor the integrity of GPS signal and it is needed to devise the correction method of pseudorange by eliminating error-occurred PRN for notification to GPS users when it is monitored that the anomaly occurred. This paper proposes the basic concept of how to correct the pseudorange. The paper also shows the analysis results of PRN10 GPS anomaly occurred on day 39 in 2007 with corrected results by eliminating anomaly satellite (PRN10). The proposed correction method shows decreased pseudorange error range compared to the case when the anomaly satellite were used.

  • Differential GPS (DGPS) is known as a positioning method using pseudo range correction (PRC) which is communicating between a refence receiver and moving receivers. In real world, a moving receiver loses communication with the reference receiver, resulting in loss of PRC real-time communication. In this paper, we assume that the transmission of the pseudo range correction isinterrupted in the middle of real-time positioning situations, in which calibration information is received in the DGPS method. Under the disconnected communication, we propose 'predict DGPS' that real-time virtual PRC model which is modeled by a machine learning algorithm with previously acquired PRC data from a reference receiver. To verify predict DGPS method, we compared and analyzed positioning solutions acquired from real PRC and the virtual PRC. In addition, we show that positioning using the DGPS prediction method on a real road can provide an improved positioning solution assuming a scenario in which PRC communication was cut off.

  • Currently, the response correction factor is calculated by comparing the response measured by the load test on a bridge with the response analyzed in the initial analytical model. Then the load rating and the load carrying capacity are evaluated. However, the response correction factor gives a value that fluctuates depending on the measurement location and load condition. In particular, when the initial analytical model is not suitable for representing the behavior of a bridge, the range of variation is large and the analysis response by the calibrated model may give a result that is different from the measured response. In this study, a pseudo-static load test was applied to obtain static response with dynamic components removed under various load conditions of a vehicle moving at a low speed. Static response was measured on two similar PSC-I girder bridges, and the response correction factors for displacement and strain were calculated for each of the two bridges. When the initial analysis model was not properly set up, it is verified that the response of the analytical model corrected by the average response correction factor does not fall within the margin of error with the measured response.

A Study for Improving the Positioning Accuracy of DGPS Based on Multi-Reference Stations by Applying Exponential Modeling on Pseudorange Corrections

  • In this paper, a pseudorange correction regeneration algorithm was developed to improve the positioning accuracy of DGPS using multi-reference stations, and the optimal minimum number of reference sites was determined by trying out different numbers of reference. This research was conducted using from two to five sites, and positioning errors of less than 1 m were obtained when pseudorange corrections are collected from at least four reference stations and interpolated as the pseudorange correction at the rover. After determining the optimal minimum number of reference stations, the pseudorange correction regeneration algorithm developed was tested by comparison with the performance of other algorithms. Our approach was developed based on an exponential model. If pseudorange corrections are regenerated using an exponential model, the effect of a small difference in the baseline distance can be enlarged. Therefore, weights can be applied sensitively even when the baseline distance differs by a small amount. Also weights on the baseline distance were applied differently by assigning weights depending on the difference of the longest and shortest baselines. Through this method, the positioning accuracy improved by 19% compared to the result of previous studies.

A Novel PCCM Voltage-Fed Single-Stage Power Factor Correction Full-Bridge Battery Charger

  • A novel pseudo-continuous conduction mode (PCCM) voltage-fed single-stage power factor correction (PFC) full-bridge battery charger is proposed in this paper. By connecting a freewheeling transistor in parallel with an input inductor, the PFC cell can operate in the PCCM with a constant duty ratio. Thus, the dc/dc stage can be designed using this constant duty ratio and the restriction on the duty ratio of the PFC cell is eliminated. As a result, the input current distortion is less and the dc bus voltage becomes controllable over the wide output power range of the battery charger. Moreover, the operation principle of the dc/dc stage is designed to be similar to that of a conventional phase-shifted full-bridge converter. Therefore, it is easy to implement. In this paper, the operation of the new converter is explained, and the design considerations of the controller and key parameters are presented. Simulation and experimental results obtained from a 1 kW prototype are given to confirm the operation of the proposed converter.

Stochastic Error Compensation Method for RDOA Based Target Localization in Sensor Network (통계적 오차보상 기법을 이용한 센서 네트워크에서의 RDOA 측정치 기반의 표적측위)

  • A recursive linear stochastic error compensation algorithm is newly proposed for target localization in sensor network which provides range difference of arrival(RDOA) measurements. Target localization with RDOA is a well-known nonlinear estimation problem. Since it can not solve with a closed-form solution, the numerical methods sensitive to initial guess are often used before. As an alternative solution, a pseudo-linear estimation scheme has been used but the auto-correlation of measurement noise still causes unacceptable estimation errors under low SNR conditions. To overcome these problems, a stochastic error compensation method is applied for the target localization problem under the assumption that a priori stochastic information of RDOA measurement noise is available. Apart from the existing methods, the proposed linear target localization scheme can recursively compute the target position estimate which converges to true position in probability. In addition, it is remarked that the suggested algorithm has a structural reconciliation with the existing one such as linear correction least squares(LCLS) estimator. Through the computer simulations, it is demonstrated that the proposed method shows better performance than the LCLS method and guarantees fast and reliable convergence characteristic compared to the nonlinear method.

  • In this paper, horn loudspeaker modeling was suggested, investigated and verified through comparison of test results and simulation ones based on input electrical impedance curves and acoustic sensitivity ones. First, Thiele Small parameters of horn driver were identified by using pseudo loudspeaker model concept and verified in case of both closed and open horndriver. Second, cone-shaped horn models were investigated and compared with input acoustic impedance curves for real horn(cone angle $6.6^{\circ}$) and short horn(cone angle $27.9^{\circ}$). It showed that Leach model for cone horn was well described to test results, which were electrical impedance and acoustic sensitivity, compared to Lemaitre one. To represent horn system model good approximation in wide frequency range, mass correction filter and lowpass filter were adopted and consequently showed good fitted to test results.

A Study on Compact Network RTK for Land Vehicles and Real-Time Test Results

  • In recent years, the need of high accuracy navigation for vehicles has increased due to the development of autonomous driving vehicles and increase in land transportation convenience. This study is performed for vehicle users to achieve a performance of centimeter-level positioning accuracy by utilizing Compact Network Real-time Kinematic (RTK) that is applicable as a national-level infrastructure. To this end, medium-baseline RTK was implemented in real time to estimate accurate integer ambiguities between reference stations for reliable generation of Network RTK correction using the linear combination of carrier-phase observations and L1/L2 pseudo-range measurements. The residual tropospheric error was estimated in real time to improve the accuracy of double-differenced integer ambiguity resolution between network configuration reference stations that have at least 30 km or longer baseline distance. In addition, C++ based software was developed to enable real-time generation and broadcasting of Compact Network RTK correction information by utilizing an accurately estimated double-differenced integer ambiguity values. As a result, the horizontal and vertical 95% accuracy was 2.5cm and 5.2cm, respectively, without performance degradation due to user's position change within the network.
