산벗나무의 열매를 이용한 천연염색 (Natural Dyeing of Silk Fabric with Sargent Cherry of Prunus Sargentii Rehder)

  • Dyeing properties of sargent cherry of Prunus sargentii Rehder were investigated with silk fabrics. The absorbed wave lengths at UV-VIS spectrometer were 362nm, 386nm, 430nm, and 512nm. The K/S value showed high in following conditions: 100%(w/w) stock solution, 60 minutes of dyeing time, 80$^{\circ}C$ of dyeing temperature, and 5 times of dyeing repetition. The K/S value showed higher in post-mordant than in pre-mordant, and the change of color did not appear in pre-mordant samples. They were colored greenish yellow in post-mordanted Cu and Fe. The highest dyeability and $\Delta$E showed in post-mordanted Fe. The light fastness showed 3-4 in post-mordanted Fe, 1-2 in pre-mordanted Al, and washing and perspiration fastnesses showed also good results in post-mordanted Fe.

산벚나무 잎 추출물 및 분획물의 항균활성과 Nitric Oxide 생성억제 활성 (Antibacterial Activity and Nitric Oxide Production Inhibitory Activity of the Extract and its Fractions from the Leaves of Prunus sargentii)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the antibacterial activity against pathogens of acne and the anti-inflammatory effect of 75% ethanol extract and its fractions from the leaves of Prunus sargentii. In the antibacterial activity by the disc diffusion assay, the extract showed the highest effect against Propionibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis in 5 mg/disc. However, the ethyl acetate fraction showed the highest antibacterial activity in 1 mg/disc. On the other hand, the hexane and chloroform fraction showed strong nitric oxide (NO) production inhibitory effect in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated Raw 264.7 cell. In the cell viability of Raw 264.7 by MTT assay, the extract and all fractions were exhibited normal viabilities as nontoxic result. Consequently, the extract from the leaves of P. sargentii and its ethyl acetate fraction could be applicable to functional materials for antibacterial activity related fields. Moreover, the hexane and chloroform fraction could be applicable to candidate materials as anti-inflammatory agent.

  • Background: In this study, we investigated the antibacterial and nitric oxide (NO) production inhibitory activities of 75% ethanol extract of Prunus sargentii branches and its fractions against acne pathogens. Methods and Results: The antibacterial activity against acne causing pathogens was determined using the disc diffusion assay. The ethyl acetate fraction showed higher activities against Propionibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis than those shown by other fractions. In the DPPH radical and NO scavenging assays, the butanol fraction showed strong DPPH radical and NO scavenging abilities. These activities were related to the total polyphenol and flavonoid contents of butanol fraction. On the other hand, the chloroform and ethyl acetate fractions exhibited the highest NO production inhibitory activity in Lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated Raw 264.7 cells compared to those exhibited by other fractions. Conclusions: The extract and its ethyl acetate fraction from the branches of P. sargentii exhibited antibacterial activity and could be used as functional materials in antimicrobial related fields. Moreover, the chloroform and ethyl acetate fractions are potential antiinflammatory agents and butanol fraction acts as an effective radical scavenger.

  • Prunus speciosa (Koidz.) Nakai belonging to Prunoideae of Rosaceae, a species previously unrecorded in Korean flora, is described. Prunus speciosa (Koidz.) Nakai is similar to Prunus sargentii Rehder and Prunus jamasakura Siebold ex Koidz., but different because it has toothed lobes of calyx tubes with the apex of leaf serrations aristate. This species is naturalized widely in the eastern parts of Jeju Island but is endemic to Japan.

장미과 식물 추출물의 생물학적 활성 (Biological Activities of Rosaceae Plants Extracts)

  • 장미과 식물(에탄을 추출)의 항산화력을 측정하기 위하여 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) 자유 라디칼 생성 시스템을 이용하여 하였다. 또한 산화 환원 과정을 통하여 피부의 과잉 색소 생성에 관련된 멜라닌 생합성 과정의 조절 가능성을 조사하였다. 장미과 식물중에서 Prunus sargentii, Rubus coreanus, Chaenomeles sinensis, Photinia glabra와 Pyrus pyrifolia은 생합성 과정에서 dopa [3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl) alanine]를 도파크롬으로 변환시켜 주는 tyrosinase 저해 효과를 나타내었다. MTT 실험법은 장미과 에탄올 추출물의 사람 섬유아세포에 미치는 독성정도를 실험하기 위해 사용되었다. 장미과 식물중 특히 Prunus sargentii의 껍질, Phorinia glabra의 껍질과 나무 그리고 Chaenomeles sinenis의 잎, 껍질, 나무 모든 부분에서 mushroom tyrosinase에 대해 $100{\;}{\mu}g/mL$에서 50\%$ 이상의 저해 활성을 보였으며, $10{\;}{\mu}g/mL$ 농도에서 강한 라디칼 소거 효과를 나타내었다. 또한 이들 추출물은 사람 섬유아 세포에 대해 높은 생존율을 나타냄으로써 멜라닌 형성 과정을 조절할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

산벚나무 부위별 추출물의 생리활성 비교 (Comparison of the Physiological Activities of Extracts from Different Parts of Prunus sargentii)

  • In this study, we investigated the antibacterial activity, antioxidative activity and whitening effect of 75% ethanol extracts from different parts of Prunus sargentii. The total phenolic compound content of the branch extract was 277.92 mg/g as the highest level. In the measurement of DPPH radical scavenging ability, $SC_{50}$ values of the cork layer and branch extract were 26.79 ${\mu}g/m{\ell}$ and 30.13 ${\mu}g/m{\ell}$. In nitric oxide (NO) scavenging ability, $SC_{50}$ values of the branch and leaf extract were 49.19 ${\mu}g/m{\ell}$ and 55.55 ${\mu}g/m{\ell}$. All extracts exhibited higher NO scavenging ability than ascorbic acid used as positive control. On the other hand, in antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus aureus by disc diffusion assay, the pure bark extract showed the highest activity. Moreover, tyrosinase inhibitory activity of cork layer, pure bark and branch extracts showed higher activity than arbutin used as positive control. In the cytotoxicity measurement by MTT assay, leaf extract was exhibited Raw 264.7 cell viabilities of 44.68~61.83% as cytotoxic result in tested concentration. In conclusion, the branch extract of Prunus sargentii will be a functional materials without damage compared to other parts such as pure bark or cork layer in the plant.

형태형질을 근간으로 한 Prunus sargentii complex의 재고 - 산벚나무와 섬벚나무의 실체 - (Reconsideration of Prunus sargentii complex in Korea - with respect to P. sargentii and P. takesimensis -)

  • 본 연구는 동북아시아에 주로 분포하는 벚나무속, Cerasus아속 중 P. sargentii complex(산벚나무, 섬벚나무, 왕벚나무)을 중심으로, 울릉도의 고유종으로 인식되는 섬벚나무와 산벚나무의 실체, 산벚나무와 일본 P. verecunda와의 관계, 왕벚나무의 실체를 위해 형태변이를 조사하였다. 산벚나무는 총화경의 길이와 총화경에서 분지되어 나온 두 번째 소화경까지의 길이가 짧아, 산형화서에 가까운 화서인 반면, 벚나무는 총화경의 길이와 두 번째 분지하는 소화경까지의 길이가 긴 산방화서 형태로서 식별이 가능하다. 또한, 산벚나무는 동아와 어린 가지에 점착성이 있으며, 개화기에 있어서도 벚나무에 비해 다소 늦고(2주 정도), 분포에서도 주로 한국의 백두대간과 일본의 북부[북해도(北海道) (Hokkaido) 에서 본주(本州)Honshu)], 극동 러시아 지역에 분포함으로서, 백두대간 이외 주로 중부 및 남부 지방, 일본 남부와 중국 남부 등에 분포하는 벚나무와는 구별되는 종으로 인식된다. 한편, 산벚나무중 잎과 화경등 전체적으로 털이 존재하는 개체는 한국과 일본 북부에 널리 분포하는 산벚나무의 변종(P. sargentii var. verecunda, 국명:분홍벚나무)으로 처리하였다. 산벚나무의 근연 분류종인 울릉도의 섬벚나무는 화서에 꽃이 달리는 개수가 (2)3-5개로 2(3)개를 가지는 산벚나무 (34-48mm)와 다소 차이를 보이며, 꽃의 크기와 관련된 여러 형질에 있어서도 작아서(꽃의 직경 26-32 mm), 주성분분석 (PCA) 에서 매우 뚜렷한 차이를 보여 독립된 종으로 인식함과 동시에 우리 나라 고유종으로 인정하였다. 한편, 왕벚나무는 기존 기재문에 의하면 산형화서를 가지는 것으로 알려져 있으나, 식재된 개체나 혹은 자생지로 말려진 제주도에도 산형화서보다는 산방화서가 더 많은 빈도로 발견된다. 제주도에 자생하는 왕벚나무에서도 총화서의 길이에 많은 변이를 가진다는 점(즉, 산형과 산방형태 모두 존재), 잡종기원 설, 두 형태가 뚜렷한 지역간 분포의 차이를 보이지 않는 특정 등의 이유로 단순히 화서의 형태를 기준으로 한 새로운 분류군 설정은 바람직하지 않다고 판단한다.

산벚나무 수피 및 코르크층 추출물의 생리활성 비교 (Comparison of the Physiological Activity of Extracts of Bark and Cork Layer from Prunus sargentii)

  • In this study, we investigated on antioxidative activity, antibacterial activity and tyrosinase inhibitory activity in 75% ethanol extracts of bark and cork layer from Prunus sargentii. The total polyphenol content of cork and bark extract was found to be 217.4 mg/g and 184.3 mg/g. And flavonoid content was found to be 31.9 mg/g and 58.6 mg/g respectively. In DPPH radical scavenging ability, cork extract was exhibited stronger scavenging ability than bark extract. Moreover, cork extract was showed higher inhibitory activity than bark extract in tyrosinase inhibitory activity. In antibacterial activity, bark extract was showed higher growth inhibition effect than cork extract against tested bacterial strains. In measurement of cytotoxicity by MTT assay, bark and cork extract showed fine cell viabilities(95.7~120.9%) against RAW 264.7 cell.

TWINSPAN과 CCA Ordination에 의한 서해안 곰솔림과 토양환경과의 상관 분석 (An Analysis of Correlation between Pinus thunbergii Forests and Soil Conditions by TWINSPAN and CCA Ordination in West Coast of South Korea)

  • Vegetation and soil conditions of four sites in west coastal forests in South Korea, were examined to analyze the relationship between Pinus thunbergii forests structure and soil conditions. The P. thunbergii forests were divided into four clusters; 1) P. thunbergii - Prunus sargentii var. sargentii, 2) P. thunbergii - Robinia pseudoacacia, 3) P. thunbergii - P. densiflora and 4) P. thunbergii - Quercus serrata. The soil of each site was poor in chemical characteristics but good enough for land plants to grow because of its low salt concentration. According to the results by CCA Ordination, certain excessive soil nutrition has influenced on vegetation and specific species distribution. Forty eight species were found in the whole sites of coastal forests and some species appeared in every site. They are P. thunbergii, R. pseudoacacia, Rhus chinensis, Idesia polycarpa and Morus alba. For the tree species importance value, P. thunbergii was followed by R. pseudoacacia, Q. serrata, P. densiflora, Celtis sinensis, M. alba, I. polycarpa and Q. mongolica in order.
