  • The Proxy Mobile IPv6 is a network-based localized mobility management protocol. In the PMIPv6, Mobile Nodes are topologically anchored at a Local Mobility Anchor, which forwards all data packets for registered Mobile Nodes. Since all data packets destined for the Mobile Nodes a1ways traverse the Mobile Nodes's Local Mobility Anchor, the LMA might be bottleneck and the end-to-end de1ay are increased. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed an enhanced Route Optimization scheme in Multiple Local Mobility Anchors environment. In order to rapid1y detect Route Optimization, we designed Domain Information Table in Mobility Access Gateway. Furthermore, we use Correspondent Binding Cache in Local Mobility Anchor to maintain Route Optimization information during Mobile Nodes's handover. To solve packet loss and reodering problems during handover, we propose a new buffering and forwarding scheme.

  • This paper addresses the Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIP) handover using bicasting in mobile/wireless networks. The bicasting scheme can be used to support the PMIP handover, which tends to waste the network resources of wireless links and incurs data losses during handover. We propose an enhanced scheme of PMIP handover, called the partial bicasting with buffering for PMIP (PBB-PMIP). In the PBB-PMIP handover, the bicasting is performed in the "partial" region between the Local Mobility Anchor (LMA) and the Mobile Access Gateway (MAG), when a mobile node is in the handover area. The data packets are buffered at the new MAG during handover to reduce data losses and are then forwarded to mobile nodes after handover. By ns-2 simulations, the proposed PBB-PMIP scheme is compared with the existing schemes of PMIP and PMIP with bicasting. The proposed scheme can benefit from the reduction of handover delay and packet loss, and the effective use of the network resources of wireless links, as compared to the existing handover schemes.

  • Multicast service will be required to be an important form of communication without interruption to the delivery of multicast service in mobile networks increasing MNs. In this paper, we review current status of PMIPv6(Proxy Mobile IPv6) multicast listener support being standardized in the IETF and point out limitations of the current approach and we proposed a fast multicast handover procedure in inter domain PMIPv6 network of network-based mobility management. The proposed Fast multicast handover procedure in inter domain optimizes multicast management by using the context of the MNs. We evaluate the proposed fast multicast handover procedure compared to the based one through the developed analytical models and confirm that introduced fast multicast handover procedure provides the reduced service interruption time and total network overhead compared to the based one during handovers.

  • With the recent advancements in various wireless communication technologies, the importance of mobile multicasting is coming to the fore, in an effort to use network resources more efficiently. In the past, when various mobile IP-based multicast techniques were proposed, the focus was put on the costs needed for network delivery for providing multicast services, as well as on minimizing the multicast handover delay. For techniques using MIPv6 (Mobile IPv6), a host-based mobility management protocol, however, it is fundamentally difficult to resolve the problems of handover delay and tunnel convergence. To resolve these problems, a network-based mobility management protocol called PMIPv6 (Proxy Mobile IPv6) was standardized. Although performance is improved in PMIPv6 over MIPv6, it still suffers from the problems of handover delay and tunnel convergence. In this paper, to overcome these limitations, a technique called LFH (Low-cost and Fast Handoff) is proposed for fast and low-cost mobility management with multicasting support in PMIPv6 networks. To reduce the interactions between the complex multicast routing protocol and the multicast messages, a simplified proxy method called MLD (Multicast Listener Discovery) is implemented and modified. Furthermore, a TCR (Tunnel Combination and Reconstruction) algorithm was used in the multicast handover procedure within the LMA (Local Mobility Anchor) domain, as well as in the multicast handover procedure between domains, in order to overcome the problem of tunnel convergence. As a result, it was found that LFH has reduced multicast delay compared to other types of multicast techniques, and that it requires lower costs as well.

  • In this paper, we compare the performance of proposals for route optimization handover, which provides optimized communication to mobile node, presented in IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force). For comparison, we consider the architecture with two MAGs (Mobile Access Gateways) and single LMA (Local Mobility Anchor), and analyze the signaling cost, handover latency, and packet loss. Evaluation results show that they are changed depending on the involved component, the number of route optimization messages and performance factor that each proposal targets.

  • There are Proxy Mobile IPv6(PMIPv6) and Network Mobility Basic Support Protocol (NEMO BSP) for more enhanced mobility support. These have a common purpose to support seamless IP mobility at network infrastructure level whenever mobile nodes(MNs) move between foreign networks. But it is different that the NEMO BSP supports an entire network's mobility, while the PMIPv6 supports only a single MN's mobility. In this paper, a new scheme is proposed to guarantee an interoperability of PMIPv6 and NEMO BSP.

  • In wireless networks, efficient mobility management to support of mobile users is very important. Several mobility management schemeshave been proposed with the aim of reducing the signaling traffic of MN(Mobile Node). Among them, PMIPv6 (Proxy Mobile IPv6) is similar with host-based mobility management protocols but MN does not require any process for mobility. By introducing new mobile agent like MAG (Mobile Access Gateway) and LMA (Local Mobility Anchor), it provides IP mobility to MN. In this paper, we propose the analytical model to evaluate the mean signalingdelay and the mean bandwidth according to the type of MN mobility. As a result of mathematical analysis, MF-PMIP (Multicasting-based FastPMIP) outperforms compared to F-PMIP and PMIP in terms of parameters for the performance evaluation.

  • Currently, IEEE 802.11 Network could not support optimized tunneling scheme and buffering scheme based on movement detection to reduce multimedia data packet loss when an MN move from current subnet to new subnet during handover. It is because IEEE 802.11 did not transfer information of movement detection to AP. In this paper, we proposed new fast handover scheme by using advanced access point and optimized snoop protocol for network based Proxy Mobile IPv6 in IEEE 802.11 Networks. During handover, the proposed scheme reduces both the multimedia data packet loss rate and the packet reordering problems without changing MN's mobility stack in IEEE 802.11 Networks.

  • Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) is a network based IP mobility management protocol. PMIPv6 make sure that the IP address of the mobile node remains the same as long as the mobile node roams with in the PMIPv6 domain. A mobile node roams with in a PMIPv6 domain. PMIPv6 protocol doesn't provide the mobility support once the mobile node moves from one PMIPv6 domain to another PMIPv6 domain. This paper proposes a Software Defined Networking (SDN) based PMIPv6 scheme which provides the mobility support for inter PMIPv6 domain movement of mobile node. In the proposed architecture each PMIPv6 domain has a SDN controller and SDN controllers from different domains communicate with each other to share the mobility information.
