Various on-demand manner routing protocols have been proposed for efficient energy consumption in mobile ad-hoc networks. Some of the protocols tried to extend the network lifetime by periodically rerouting paths according to the energy consumption rate of nodes. However, those protocols suffer from frequent flooding and high overhead. This paper proposed a new routing protocol called ALPMR (Adaptive Local Path Modification Routing) that extends the network lifetime by using local path rerouting. The proposed ALPMR protocol performs local rerouting around nodes with little remaining energy as well as data congestion, thus reduces flooding and routing overhead and can extend the network lifetime. The performance of ALPMR protocol is observed using ns-2 simulator.

MANET(Mobile Ad hoc networks) is a mobile, multi-hop, and wireless network which is bandwidth constrained, energy constrained, resource constrained, autonomous, and self operating systems with dynamic topology. These constraints make the routing between communicating nodes in ad hoc networks difficult. In this paper we survey several routing protocol for mobile ad hoc networks. Especially, we focus on Zone Routing Protocol, hybrid routing framework suitable for a wide of mobile ad hoc networks and analyze performance of ZRP. In the case of ZRP protocol, it is essential that the use of optimal zone radius for efficient use. Otherwise it was proved through an simulation that performance of whole network is rapidly decrease with greatly increasing overhead of ZRP traffic that need for transmission of packet by IARP or IERP traffic. Also we suggest the process of finding QoS path that use in-band signal for QoS routing in ad hoc network. This method guarantees route that make real time multimedia service for QoS enabled path.

In recent years, wireless sensor networks(WSNs) have emerged as a new fast-growing application domain for wireless distributed computing and embedded systems. Recent Progress in computer and communication technology has made it possible to organize wireless sensor networks composed tiny sensor nodes. Furthermore, ad-hoc network protocols do not consider the characteristics of wireless sensor nodes, making existing ad-hoc network protocols unsuitable for the wireless sensor networks. First, we propose power-aware routing protocols based on energy-centered routing metrics. Second, we describe power management techniques for wireless sensor nodes using the spatial locality of sensed data. Many nodes can go into a power-down mode without sacrificing the accuracy of sensed data. Finally, combining the proposed techniques, we describe an overall energy-efficient protocol for data collection. Experimental results show that the proposed routing protocol can extend the routing path lifetime more than twice. The average energy consumption per sensing period is reduced by up to 30%.
Ad hoc networks are characterized by multi- hop wireless connectivity, frequently changing network topology and the need for efficient dynamic routing protocols. In this paper, we proposed a new technique to adjust the zone radius by concentrating the changes of network traffic in a particular direction, which we refer to as AZRP. We demonstrate that even though ZRP and AZRP share a similar hybrid routing behavior, the differences in the protocol mechanics can lead to significant performance differentials. We discuss the algorithm and report on the performance of AZRP scheme, and compare it to the ZRP routing protocol. Our results indicate clearly that AZRP outperforms ZRP by reducing significantly the number of route query messages. And thereby increases the efficiency of the network load.

In this letter, we consider a directional routing protocol that reduces the duplicated packets for AODV-based flooding in the course of establishing the end-to-end route in the multi-hop maritime ad-hoc networks. We propose an adaptive means of reducing the routing overhead subject to the node density and the target probability of successful routing that is analyzed by the stochastic geometry.

Nowadays Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are a very popular and emerging technology in the world. MANETs helps mobile nodes to communicate with each other anywhere without using infrastructure. For this purpose we need good routing protocols to establish the network between nodes because mobile nodes can change their topology very fast. Mobile node movements are very important features of the routing protocol. They can have a direct effect on the network performance. In this paper, we are going to discuss random walk and random waypoint mobility models and their effects on routing parameters. Previously, mobility models were used to evaluate network performance under the different routing protocols. Therefore, the network performance will be strongly modeled by the nature of the mobility pattern. The routing protocols must rearrange the changes of accurate routes within the order. Thus, the overheads of traffic routing updates are significantly high. For specific network protocols or applications, these mobility patterns have different impacts.
This paper proposes a new protocol to enhance the routing performance and applies our proposal to AODV (Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector routing) protocol, which is a typical on-demand routing protocol in MANET. In general, when a route repair procedure is performed due to the transfer or failure of a node, the source node re-initiate a route discovery procedure in most routing protocols of MANET. This causes to increase the control traffic overhead largely and degrade the routing performance. The main idea of our study is to provide a methodology that can minimize the control traffic overhead and enhance the performance by initiating a route repair procedure at destination node and utilizing the previous routing information maximumly. To evaluate the performance of the our mechanism, we have performed a series of simulations. The simulations include comparisons with AODV and AODV with local repair. The simulations have been executed under simulation environments taking into account mobility speed and network site. The simulation results show that our proposal overall outperforms the existing protocols.

Scalable routing is one of the key challenges in designing and operating large scale MANETs. Performance of routing protocols proposed so far is only guaranteed under various limitation, i.e., dependent of the number of nodes in the network or needs the location information of destination node. Due to the dependency to the number of nodes in the network, as the number of nodes increases the performance of previous routing protocols degrade dramatically. We propose Cluster Overlay Dynamic Source Routing (CODSR) protocol. We conduct performance analysis by means of computer simulation under various conditions - diameter scaling and density scaling. Developed algorithm outperforms the DSR algorithm, e.g., more than 90% improvement as for the normalized routing load. Operation of CODSR is very simple and we show that the message and time complexity of CODSR is independent of the number of nodes in the network which makes CODSR highly scalable.

This paper presents the design of the educational router system. This system is designed and implemented to support network configuration and embedded programming technology of the user on Internet. Not only Static routing protocol but also a kind of dynamic routing protocols such as OSPF and RIP and firewall have been programmed for education based on ethernet interface. ADS 1.2 as debugging environment, uC/OS-ii as RTOS and C language as development language are used. The educational procedures is compile, loading of static routing protocol, a kind of dynamic routing protocols such as OSPF and RIP and firewall program already supplied. Thereafter the verification is checked by using "ping" test to allow for demo operation such as hands-on training procedure. Finally programming procedure similar with demo operation of static routing protocol, a kind of dynamic routing protocols such as OSPF and RIP and packet filtering function is educated step by step.

In wireless multi-hop network, many applications need multicast communication where the group leader needs to send data to all members of the group. Multicast routing provides a balanced, efficient, and fairness network environment for the group members. However, large load for transmission management to leader node and signal interference between several paths for multi-hop links always took long transmission delay and low throughput efficiency. In this paper, we propose a Zone-based Hierarchical Multicast Routing Protocol (ZHMP). This routing protocol is designed based on zone routing schemes, where proactive routing is applied for intra-zone node level multicasting and reactive routing is used for searching inter-zone paths. By each hierarchical and independent multicast working in separated zones, load of multicast source node will be distributed by several zone-level routings for a better load balance and signal interference between each multi-hop paths will be resisted for a maximum multicast throughput.
