Synthesis and Physical Property of Multi-Functional Siloxane Protective Coating Materials Applicable for Electronic Components

  • Four multialkoxy-functionalized siloxane base-polymers (BP-1~4) were synthesized through either hydrosilylation or condensation reactions in order to prepare multi-networked siloxane polymers having appropriate physical properties for protective coating in fabrications of electronics. Formulations of 4 base-polymers gave coating materials A and B. Product A showed well-controlled flowing and leveling properties, and product A-2 was successfully applied to protective insulating coating for junction areas of connectors and chips in PDP controller. Tack free time, extrusion rate, dielectric breakdown voltage, hardness, thermal stability, water resistance and flame resistance of products A and B were examined.

TiAIN 박막의 우선방위와 내산화성 (Oxidation Resistance and Preferred Orientation of TiAIN Thin Films)

  • Microstructure, mechanical properties, and oxidation resistance of TiAIN thin films deposited on quenched and tempered STD61 tool steel by arc ion plating were studied using XRD, XPS and micro-balance. The TiAIN film was grown with the (200) orientation. The grain size of TiAIN thin film decreased with increasing Al contents, while chemical binding energy increased with Al contents. When hard coating films were oxidized at $850^{\circ}C$ in air, oxidation resistance of both TiN and TiCN films became relatively lower since the surface of films formed non-protective film such as $TiO_2$. However, oxidation resistance of TiAIN film was excellent because its surface formed protective layer such as $_A12$$O_3$ and $_Al2$$Ti_{7}$$O_{15}$, which suppressed oxygen intrusion.

  • Hiroshima University opened the advanced display laboratory (ADL) in 2006 to specifically focus on the PDP researches. The mission of ADL is to lay the bases for the innovative PDP technologies. Our research efforts have been concentrated on the fundamental study of protective materials and phosphors, and also of the effect of protective materials with high $\gamma$ emission in the high luminous efficacy. This paper briefly introduces the present status of our research activities.

  • A connection between pulse-periodical laser radiation power and stability of liquid-metal contacts between powder particles during selective laser sintering (SLS) is determined based on analysis solving the problem of stability of liquid column in the gravity and capillary forces field. On the grounds of obtained relationships the optimization of pulse-periodical laser radiation power and SLS-process duration is realized, that allows to produce voluminous powder porous materials with pre-determined physical and mechanical properties and surface geometry. Results of metallographic investigations of powder porous materials of titanium powder produced with technological regimes calculated by means of obtained relationships are given in the work

  • Magnesium alloys exhibit many attractive properties such as low density, high strength/weight ratio, high thermal conductivity, very good electromagnetic features and good recyclability. However, most commercial magnesium alloys require protective coatings because of their poor corrosion resistance. Attempts have been made to improve the corrosion resistance of the Mg alloys by surface treatments, such as chemical conversion coatings, anodizing, plating and metal coatings, are commonly applied to magnesium alloys in order to increase the corrosion resistance. Among them, chemical conversion coatings are regarded as one of the most effective and cheapest ways to prevent corrosion resistance. In this study, zinc phosphate conversion coatings on various Mg alloys have been developed by selecting proper phosphating bath composition and concentration and by optimizing phosphating time, temperature. Morphology, coatings composition, corrosion resistance, adhesion and its formation and growth mechanism of the zinc phosphate conversion coatings were studied. Results have shown some attractive properties such as simplicity in operation, significantly increased corrosion protective property. However, adhesions between coatings and substrate and also between coatings and paint are still not satisfied. Resolving the problems and understanding the mechanism of phosphating process are targets of our study.

LiF-NdF3-Nd2O3 용융염에서 질화물계 세라믹재료의 고온안정성 (High Temperature Stability of Nitride Ceramic Materials in LiF-NdF3-Nd2O3 Molten Salts System)

  • Nd-Fe-B permanent magnets have been used in a wide variety of applications because of their high magnetic flux density. So, demand for neodymium has been increasing in worldwide. In this study, an electrowinning process was performed in $LiF-NdF_3-Nd_2O_3$ high temperature molten salts. However, a corrosion resistant material for use in the molten salt must be found for stable operation because of the harsh corrosion environment of the electrowinning process. Therefore, for this paper, boron nitride(BN), aluminum nitride(AlN), and silicon nitride($Si_3N_4$) were selected as protective and structural materials in the high temperature electrolyte. To investigate the characteristics of BN, AlN, and $Si_3N_4$, in molten salts, materials were immersed in the molten salts for 24, 72, 120, and 192 hours. Also, surface condition and stability were investigated by SEM and EDS and corrosion products were calculated by HSC chemistry. As a result, among BN, AlN, and $Si_3N_4$, AlN was found to show the best protective material properties.

남자경찰보호복 착용실태 및 만족도에 관한 연구 (A Survey on Satisfaction of Protective Clothing for Riot Policemen)

  • This paper examines the protective clothing satisfaction rate of riot policemen. The protective clothing currently in use is the version that underwent enhancement and was distributed in 2009. This version underwent significant enhancements compared to the protective clothing introduced in 1996 in terms of safety and body fitness; however, there is room for further enhancement in terms of activity, thermal comfort and easiness. In this research, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 386 riot policemen working at the Seoul Riot Police Station to study their use of protective clothing and satisfaction rate. The survey questions included safety, activity and body fitness in terms of functionality and comfort as well as easiness and design in terms of wearing comfort. Activity scored the lowest (2.89) in terms of functionality as well as comfort (2.40) that scored the lowest in terms of wearing comfort. It is concluded that, in order to correct deficiencies, the weight of protective clothing must be reduced and design changes must be made to eliminate unnecessary areas in clothing and facilitate faster dressing/undressing. In addition, it is strongly recommended that shock absorption materials be inserted only in vital areas in order to enhance thermal comfort.

여자경찰 기동대원들의 경찰보호복에 대한 착용실태 및 만족도에 관한 연구 (An analysis on satisfaction of protective clothing for riot policewomen)

  • This study is to examine the satisfaction of protective clothing for riot policewomen. The protective clothing that riot policewomen currently wear are not suitable for them because they are structurally designed for men. A survey was conducted about satisfaction of protective clothing for 190 riot policewomen who work in Seoul and Gyeonggi province. This study focused on functionality and comfort of the protective clothing. It examined overall condition of protective clothing and policewomen's satisfaction in terms of safety, activity, fitness, comfort, convenience and design. The first three aspects were examine to measure its functionality and the last three to measure its comfort. Most results show under 3 out of 5 point in terms of functions and comfort level. In conclusion, it is strongly recommended that new design which fits better to women according to their body structures and sizes as well as new fabric materials that permeability better are needed.

  • 본 논문은 최적의 방호력과 편의성, 착용감을 갖춘 지뢰 탐지 및 지뢰 제거용 방호복의 국내 기술현황을 분석, 정리한 내용이다. 경량방호 소재는 고강도 직물 및 부직포 소재의 적절한 적층 배열 구조로 구성되어 있어 전체적인 방호복의 중량과 두께를 줄임으로써 착용감을 향상시켜야 한다. 한편 방호복은 인체 부위별 치명상의 정도에 따라 방호성능을 보강하도록 구성함으로써 최대한의 방호성능을 갖추면서 활동성 및 착용감을 향상시켜야 한다. 특히 디자인에 있어서 탈착 및 부착이 용이하고, 부상 시 환자를 움직이지 않고도 인체로부터 방호복을 분리해 낼 수 있도록 고안하여야 한다. 이와 함께 고강도/초경량 하이브리드 방탄 재료 기술 현황에 관하여서도 간략히 기술하였다.
