Especially, the number of personal information breach targeting middle-aged and elderly people rapidly increases. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify the factors which influence to fail of online information security behaviors among the elderly. Design/methodology/approach This study made a research model by adopting the factors deducted from the protection motivation theory. To analyze the research model, we conducted an online survey targeted on the elderly and middle ages users who have nations of Korean and Chinese respectively. Findings According to the empirical analysis result, we identified that only perceived severity and perceived vulnerability affected information security awareness. On contrast, it was also discovered that perceived barriers, self-efficacy, and response efficacy did not affect information security awareness. Additionally, the awareness of information security also did not affect information security behaviors. Middle-aged and elderly people with personal information protection education did more information security behaviors than people those who no education experiences. Korean middle-aged and elderly people with education significantly did more information protection behaviors than the people without the education.

  • Reference electrodes are generally implemented for the purpose of monitoring the cathodic protection potentials of buried or immersed metallic structures. In the market, many types of reference electrodes are available for this purpose, such as saturated calomel, silver/silver chloride and copper/copper sulfate. These electrodes contain a porous ceramic junction plate situated in the cylindrical body bottom to permit ionic flux between the internal electrolyte (of the reference electrode) and the external electrolyte. In this work, the copper/copper sulfate reference electrode was modified by replacing the porous ceramic junction plate for a metallic platinum wire. The main purpose of this modification was to avoid the ion copper transport from coming from the inner reference electrode solution into the surrounding electrolyte, and to mitigate the copper plating on the coupon surfaces. Lab tests were performed in order to compare the performance of the two mentioned reference electrodes. We verified that the experimental errors associated with the measurements conducted with developed reference electrode would be negligible, as the platinum surface area exposed to the surrounding electrolyte and/or to the reference electrolyte are maintained as small as possible.

  • Corrosion is never avoided in the use of materials with various environments. The underwater hull is normally protected against rusting by several coatings of anti-corrosive paint. The purpose of ICCP(Impressed Current Cathodic protection) system is to eliminate the rusting or corrosion, which occurs on metal immersed in seawater. The anode of ICCP system is controlled by an external DC source with converter. The function of anode is to conduct the protective current into seawater. The proposed algorithm includes the harmonic suppression control strategy and the optimum protection strategy and has tried to test the requirement current density for protection, the influence of voltage, the protection potential. This paper was studied the variation of potential and current density with environment factors, time and velocity, and the experimental results will be explained.

  • This paper describes the anti-corrosion system on underwater structures of ships. Metals and alloys have several positions in the series such as immunity, corrosion and passivity. The iron potential has to change from the corrosion position to the anodic protection or cathodic protection for preventing corrosion by providing corrosion protection system such as ICCP(Impressed Current Cathodic Protection). The purpose of ICCP system is to eliminate the rusting or corrosion, which occurs on metal immersed in water. The system includes a power supply unit, which consists of a transformer, a converter. a controller, etc. This paper presents the protection performance of ICCP under dynamic condition such as velocity. The variation of potential and current density with time and environment factors are also described Finally, the experimental results will be explained and analysed.

  • The purpose of this study was to discuss the role of mothers in children's privacy protection on the Internet. Specifically, the study explored 1)children's privacy protection efforts on the Internet, 2)types of personal information children provided at Web sites, and 3)the effect of mothers' privacy protection efforts on their children's privacy protection levels. The Internet survey was conducted and total of 153 mothers and their children aged 12-13 were included for statistical analysis. The descriptive statistics and Ordinary Least Squares were used. The results yield that children showed relatively high levels in providing personal information on the Internet, while they have no sufficient competency at privacy protection. The effect of mothers' privacy protection efforts on children's privacy protection was partially supported. The longer hours of Internet use and frequent participation in online events increased the potential consequences of children's privacy invasion. Providing privacy standards for online service providers and marketers targeting children could help protect children's privacy. Moreover, education program targeting parents and children could contribute them reduce potential consequences of children's privacy invasion.
