A Study on the Fundamental Characteristics Analysis of Giant Magnetostrictive Materials (초자기변형소자(Terfenol-D)의 기초특성해석에 관한 연구)

  • Terfenol-D is one of several magnetostrictive materials with property of converting energy into mechanical motion, and vice versa. Magnetostriction is the property that causes certain ferromagnetic materials to change shape in a magnetic field. Terfenol-D is said to produce giant magnetostriction, strain greater than any other commercially available smart material. In this paper, fundamental characteristics analysis of giant magnetostrictive materials(Terfenol-D) has been investigated. The magnetic field analysis is carried out by using finite element method simulation ANSYS. The results show 223N in force and 9.5T in maximum magnetic flux density and 7.56 $10^6A/m$ in maximum magnetic field intensity 1A current. Through the analysis, basic data of Terfenol-D for the application of mechanical system are obtained.

Thermal Analysis of IPMSM with Water Cooling Jacket for Railway Vehicles

  • In this paper, the water cooling method among the forced coolant cooling methods is considered to be applied to the 110kW-class IPMSM for railway vehicles. First, basic thermal property analysis of the IPMSM is conducted using the three-dimensional thermal equivalent network method. Then, based on the results of the basic thermal property analysis, some design requirements for the water cooling jacket are deduced and a basic design of the water cooling jacket is carried out. Finally, thermal equivalent circuit of the water cooling jacket is attached to the IPMSM's 3D thermal equivalent network and then, the basic thermal and effectiveness analysis are conducted for the case of applying the water cooling jacket to the IPMSM. In the future, the thermal variation trends inside the IPMSM by the application of the water cooling jacket is expected to be quickly and easily predicted even at the design step of the railway traction motor.

  • The main purpose of this study is to analysis of urban MAGLEV vehicle for the Incheon International Airport Maglev railway, in the process of construction at the moment, in Korea. For analysis of urban MAGLEV, we have measurement power a special quality of MAGLEV operating the center science museum in Deajeon. 1) The power property related to urban MAGLEV vehicle demand on the Incheon International Airport Maglev railway track and substation capacity compared to the result given. 2) The optimum design of substation is determined based on the analysis. 3) The equipments of substation are determined based on the analysis. The result of measurement performance, therefore, enables us to reflect the good property, to the power supply design. The result of research performance, therefore, enables us to reflect the Power Supply System design for the stabilized and economized MAGLEV operation.

Prediction of Sensory Property form Leaf Chemical Property in Flue-cured Tobacco (황색종 잎담배의 화학성분에 의한 관능 특성 예측)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the prediction of sensory property of smoke from leaf chemical property and characterize leaf chemical components for the best tobacco taste's leaves in flue-cured tobacco. For analytical and sensory evaluations, one hundred and forty grades were used. The major leaf chemical components to predict the sensory property of smoke were nicotine for impact, irritation and off taste & odor, and total sugar/nicotine ratio for tobacco taste. Within ${\pm}20%$ range of difference, the predictable probabilities of sensory property of smoke form leaf chemical property were 80.0% for off taste & odor and $91.4{\sim}96.4%$ for impact, irritation and tobacco taste. As a result of K-means cluster analysis on the basis of tobacco taste, the desirable leaf chemical component contents were $2.77{\sim}3.55%$ in nicotine and $5.1{\sim}6.9$ in total sugar/nicotine ratio. This study suggest that the some regression equations may be useful to predict the sensory property of tobacco smoke from a few selected leaf chemical components in flue-cured tobacco and to select the flue-cured tobacco leaves for enhance the tobacco taste of cigarette.

Priority Assessment for Groundwater Contamination Management Using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and GIS Approach (계층분석법(AHP)과 GIS를 이용한 고양시 일대의 지하수오염 관리우선순위 평가)

  • In this study, priority for groundwater contamination management was assessed based on regional vulnerability in Goyang-si area, Gyonggi-do, Korea using analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and geographic information system (GIS). We proposed a concept for regional vulnerability to groundwater contamination with using socio-environmental vulnerability factors, which can be classified into three properties including regional hydrogeological property, contamination property, and groundwater use property. This concept is applied to Goyang-si area. For AHP analysis, an expertise-targeted survey was conducted. Based on the survey, a total of 10 factors (criteria) and corresponding weights for regional vulnerability assessment were determined. The result shows that regional contamination property is the most weighted factor among the three property groups (hydrogeological property: contamination property: groundwater use property = 0.3: 0.4: 0.3). Then, database layers for those factors were constructed, and regional vulnerability to groundwater contamination was assessed by weighted superposition using GIS. Results show that estimated regional vulnerability score is ranged from 22.7 to 94.5. Central and western areas of Goyang-si which have groundwater tables at shallow depths and are mainly occupied by industrial and residential areas are estimated to be relatively highly vulnerable to groundwater contamination. Based on assessed regional vulnerability, we classified areas into 4 categories. Category 1 areas, which are ranked at the top 25% of vulnerability score, take about 2.8% area in Goyang-si and give a high priority for groundwater contamination management. The results can provide useful information when the groundwater management authority decide which areas should be inspected with a high priority for efficient contamination management.

In addition, it is study for comprehend the risk of hypothermia and suggest analysis result that is experiment of thermal insulation property and body temperature property for decide of prediction the body temperature decline Thermal Analysis apply the finite element analysis method is comprehended the property of heat conductivity, convective effect of sea water and properties changes according to property of insulation material. it measure the heat flux with attach temperature sensor on body in order to comprehend the variation of body temperature with boarding a life raft experiment on a human body. This study validate results by comparing variation of temperature measured from experiment on a body with variation of temperature from finite element analysis model. Also, the criteria of hypothermia was discussed through result of finite element analysis.

  • According to the growing importance of science and technology policy, investment in research and development (R&D) has been increased. In this context, a patent as one of outcome of firm's systematic R&D investment is the way to hold a dominant position in companies' technology competitiveness and also to protect technology right. This study attempts to find the effects of input resources and intellectual property production activity on company value. It conducted empirical analysis based on 238 KOSDAQ-listed and medium-sized firms. Using the previous research, this study configurated research variables about activity of patent production, company value, and input of resources. Through these variables, it aims to know the effect of input of resources and activity of patent production on company value. First, the result of regression analysis shows that R&D cost has the positive effect on a patent production and sales promotion cost positively affects on the registration of the trademark. Second, the output of regression analysis indicates that a patent has the positive effect on company value but a trademark has not. With regard to the input of resources, R&D cost has the influence on company value but sales promotion cost has not. This study attempts to find the effectiveness of company's intellectual property registration on its value and suggests a way that the systematic R&D investment contributes the growth of company value.

  • Spectroscopic ellipsometry is an excellent technique for determining dielectric function. To obtain critical point energy, standard analytic critical point expression is used conventionally for second derivatives of dielectric function which might increase high frequency noise than signal. However, reciprocal-space analysis offers several advantages for determining critical point parameters in optical and other spectra, for example the separation of baseline, information, and high frequency noise in low-, medium-, high-index Fourier coefficient, respectively. We used reciprocal Fourier analysis for removing noise and determining critical point of ZnCdSe alloy.

  • Rock slopes along the road or railroad are affected by temperature and therefore experienced iterative freezing-thawing process between winter and early spring. The purpose of this study is to analyze the stability of rock slopes which are influenced by the deterioration due to the freezing-thawing. The analysis is the homogenization method which evaluates the strength property of discontinuous rock mass, and as a strength failure criterion, Drucker-Prager failure criterion is used. The deterioration property of real rock is obtained by a freezing-thawing laboratory test of tuff and this property of deterioration is quantitated and used as a basic data of stability analysis for rock mass. To evaluate the deterioration depth due to the freezing-thawing in situ rock slope, one dimensional heat conductivity equation is used and as the result I can find that the depth of which is affected by a temperature. After the freezing-thawing depth of model slope is determined, we analyze the pattern of rock mass stength value of rock slope model which excesses the limit of self-load.

Study of Design Flood Estimation by Watershed Characteristics (유역특성인자를 이용한 설계홍수량 추정에 관한 연구)

  • Through this research of the analysis on the frequency flood discharges regarding basin property factors, a linear regression system was introduced, and as a result, the item with the highest correlation with the frequency flood discharges from Nakdong river basin is the basin area, and the second highest is the average width of basin and the river length. The following results were obtained after looking at the multi correlation between the flood discharge and the collected basin property factors using the data from the established river maintenance master plan of the one hundred twenty-five rivers in the Nakdong river basin. The result of analysis on multivariate correlation between the flood discharges and the most basic data in determining the flood discharges as basin area, river length, basin slope, river slope, average width of basin, shape factor and probability precipitation showed more than 0.9 of correlation in terms of the multi correlation coefficient and more than 0.85 for the determination coefficient. The model which induced a regression system through multi correlation analysis using basin property factors is concluded to be a good reference in estimating the design flood discharge of unmeasured basin.
