Effect of Chemical Composition on the Microstructure and Tensile Property in TRIP-assisted Multiphase Steels (TRIP형 복합조직강의 미세조직 및 인장성질에 미치는 화학조성의 영향)

  • The effect of chemical composition on the microstructural change and tensile property in TRIP-assisted steels with different chemical composition was investigated by using SEM, TEM, XRD and UTM. As a result of microscopic observation, the morphology of retained austenite could be identified as two types; a granular type in a steel containing higher Si and a film type in a steel having higher C. For the case of higher C-containing steel with a tensile strength of 860 MPa and a total elongation of 38%, film-typed retained austenite could be observed between lath bainitic ferrite. Actually, metastable retained austenite was a requisite for the good formability, which means that chemical composition plays a significant role in the microstructure and tensile property of TRIP-assisted steels. With respect to tensile property, the steels containing suitable Si and Mn, respectively, showed a typical TRIP effect in stress-strain curve, while a steel containing higher Mn content exhibited the similar behavior shown in dual phase steel.

A Resistance Property Against High Velocity Impact on Glass-SiC Composites (유리-탄화규소 복합재료의 고속충돌 저항물성)

  • The glass-SiC composites have been manufactured via viscous flow of glass for investigating their sinterability and various properties. The relative density of 99.6% could be achieved when 5 wt% SiC was mixed with glass powder, glass-rearranged at 460$^{\circ}C$ for 3 h and then sintered at 665$^{\circ}C$ for 1 h. The sintered density was decreased as adding more than 5 wt% SiC to glass powder. The resistance properties against hyper velocity copper jet formed by explosion of K215 warhead were compared with other ceramics such as $Al_2O_3$ and pyrex, resulting in lower values than that of $Al_2O_3$.

Effect of SiC Nanorods on Mechanical and Thermal Properties of SiC Composites Fabricated by Chemical Vapor Infiltration

  • To reduce residual pores of composites and obtain a dense matrix, SiCf/SiC composites were fabricated by chemical vapor deposition (CVI) using SiC nanorods. SiC nanorods were uniformly grown in the thickness direction of the composite preform when the reaction pressure was maintained at 50 torr or 100 torr at 1,100℃. When SiC nanorods were grown, the densities of the composites were 2.57 ~ 2.65 g/㎤, higher than that of the composite density of 2.47 g/㎤ for non-growing of SiC nanorods under the same conditions; grown nanorods had uniform microstructure with reduced large pores between bundles. The flexural strength, fracture toughness and thermal conductivity (room temperature) of the SiC nanorod grown composites were 412 ~ 432 MPa, 13.79 ~ 14.94 MPa·m1/2 and 11.51 ~11.89 W/m·K, which were increases of 30%, 25%, and 25% compared to the untreated composite, respectively.

A Study for Natural Dyeing and Functional Property of Paper and Fabrics with Green Laver Extracts (파래 추출액을 이용한 지사용 원지와 직물의 천연 염색성 및 기능성에 관한 연구)

  • This study explored applicability of natural dyeing and functional property of base paper using paper yarn and fabrics with green laver extracts. As a result of measuring dyeability and functional property of cotton, silk, and a blended fabric of cotton/mulberry, $60^{\circ}C$ and 40 minutes was the optimal dyeing condition for the cotton fabric under an alkali condition; $50^{\circ}C$ and 60 minutes for the silk fabric; $60^{\circ}C$ and 50 minutes for the blended fabric of cotton/mulberry. As a result of measuring the color fastness after dyeing cotton, silk and the blended fabric of cotton/mulberry, fastness to washing, water, rubbing, dry cleaning and light was superior. In terms of functional property, the silk and the blended fabric of cotton/mulberry were superior concerning antimicrobial properties of the fabric dyed with green laver extracts while the cotton fabric showed 90% or over. Regarding deodorization, the blended fabric of cotton/mulberry was the most superior. All the fabrics were harmless to the human body as they had heavy metal content below the standard. Considering the research results comprehensively, the green laver extracts possibly has enough applicability and functional property as a natural dyes. Moreover, it has potential to be developed new eco-friendly fashion materials.

Adhesion Property of Cu on Low-k : Ti Glue Layer, Boron Dopant, N2plasma effects (Ti glue layer, Boron dopant, N2plasma 처리들이 Cu와 low-k 접착력에 미치는 효과)

  • Adhesion between Cu and low-k films has been investigated. Low-k films deposited using a mixture of hexamethyldisilane(HMDS) and Para-xylene had a dielectric constant as low as 2.7, showing the thermally stable properties up to $400^{\circ}C$. In this study, Ti glue layer, boron dopant, and $N_2$plasma treatment were used to improve adhesion property of between Cu and low-k films. Ti glue layer slightly improved adhesion property. After $N_2$plasma treatment, the adhesion property was significantly improved due to the increased roughness and the formation of new binding states between Ti and plasma-treated PPpX : HMDS. However, $300^{\circ}C$ annealing of $N_2$plasma treated sample caused the diffusion of Cu into the PPpX : HMDS, degrading the low-k properties. In the case of Cu(B)/Ti/PPpX : HMDS, the adhesion was remarkably increased. This enhanced adhesion was attributed to formation of Ti-boride at the Cu-Ti interface. It is because the formed Ti-boride prevented the diffusion of Cu into the PPpX : HMDS and the Cu-Ti reaction at the Ti interface.

  • The tantalum oxide($Ta_2O_5$) is an important material for present thin-film capacitor application owing to its high dielectric constant and thermal stability. We report dielectric property of Si(p type)/Pt/$Ta_2O_5$/Ag based MIM structure obtained by RF sputtering and annealed in vacuum environment. We have measured and researched the characteristics of C-F, C-V and EPMA. And we describe parameter dependence on sputtered condition and annealed temperature with dielectric property.

High Fastness Dyeing Technology of Polyester Microfiber with Several Disperse Dyes and Vat dye (수종의 분산 염료 및 환원염료에 의한 Polyester microfiber의 고견뢰 염색기술)

  • Polyester microfiber has usually greater dye uptake than normal denier polyester fiber in same dyeing condition. In spite of this high dye uptake dyed microfiber fabric has not only low visual colour depth but also poor washing fastness property. In order to study high colouring dyeing technology and high washing fastness of polyester microfiber, dyeing property of polyester microfiber was investigated according to the dye solubility and particle size of used disperse dyes in aqueous dye solution. After disperse dyeing, dyed fabric with disperse dye was redyed with a vat dye without reduction clearing in order to obtain a high washing fastness property. The result were as followings ; A small particle sized disperse dyes such as C. I. Disperse Blue 56 and Red 60 showed high rate of initial exhaution compared with a large particle sized disperse dyes like C. I. Disperse Blue 165 and Red 343. In study of dyeing property of polyester microfiber with C. I. Vat Blue 1, polyester microfiber could achieve high dye uptake at a given optimum vatting process conditions. On the other hand, in consecutive dyeing with disperse and vat dye, K/S value of polyester microfiber with a small particle sized disperse dye increased without reduction clearings, but K/S value of polyester microfiber with a large particle sized disperse dye decreased with reduction clearings.

  • For the good combination of high-temperature strength, toughness and creep property, $9-12\%$ chromium steels are often used for gas turbine compressors, steam turbine rotors, blade and casing. In this study, the correlation of microstructural evolution and mechanical properties was investigated fur the specimens heat-treated at 600, 650 and $700^{\circ}C$ for 1000, 3000 and 5000 hrs. The microstructure of as-received specimen was tempered martensite with a high dislocation density, small sub-grains and fine secondary phase such as $M_23C_6$. Aging for long-time at high temperature caused the growth of martensite lath and the decrease of dislocation density resulting in the decrease in strength. However, the evolution of secondary phases had influence on hardness, yield strength and impact property. In the group A specimen aged at $600^{\circ}C\;and\;650^{\circ}C$, Laves phase was observed. The Laves phase caused the increase of the hardness and the decrease of the impact property. In addition, the abrupt growth of secondary phases caused decrease of the impact property in both A and B group specimens.

Mechanical and Corrosion Properties of A487 Cast with Different C and Cr/Mo Contents (A487 주강품의 C 및 Cr/Mo 함량 변화에 따른 기계적 및 부식 특성)

  • The effect of different C and Cr/Mo contents, which were varied within the range allowed in the relevant specification, on the mechanical and corrosion properties of A487 alloy cast steel were examined. The increase in strength level with increasing C content and the decrease in strength along with the increase in tensile elongation with decreasing Cr/Mo contents were observed in A487 alloys with different C and Cr/Mo contents. At room temperature, the decrease in Cr/Mo content was beneficial in improving the impact properties of A487 alloy, with no notable difference in absorbed energy with varying C content. The impact properties of A487 alloy at $-60^{\circ}C$, on the other hand, greatly improved with the increase in C and the decrease in Cr/Mo contents. The corrosion behavior of A487 alloys in 3.5% NaCl solution did not show any meaningful change with different C and Cr/Mo contents.

  • We have studied the other unit which is partial element in fullerene $C_{90}$. The energy of the higher fullerene increased by 5.6 kcal/mol for each $1.0{\beta}$ of planarity for the other units and increased by 11.0 kcal/mol for each $2C_1$ other unit at RHF/AM1 method. Therefore, we have known that the stable $C_{90}$ isomer do not have $C_1$ unit in other unit and have small planarity. The confirmable $C_{90}$ isomers by experiment satisfies these two conditions.
