  • The performance of the waterjet system of 180 ton class fishing guard ship has been experimentally studied. A waterjet propulsion system has many advantages in comparison with a conventional screw propeller especially for high speed craft because of its good cavitation performance. Recently waterjet system has been applied to fishing boats and fishing guard ship because of avoiding a net problem although their speeds are not so high. This paper describes experimental procedure and analysis method of resistance and self-propulsion tests with a 1/14.46-scale model. Experimental results were analyzed according to ITTC 96 standard method. The full-scale effective power and delivered power of the ship were also analyzed and the full-scale speed predicted from the model test results shows a good agreement with the full-scale result from the sea trial tests.

  • During scuba diving in Korea, accidents involving bodies being struck by the ship propeller when entering and exiting the water, repeatedly occur every year. In response to the need to reduce accidents and implement safety management measures, Korea has established regulations for the installation and management of propeller guards. However, owing to the absence of clear production regulations in domestic laws and regulations, the installation standards are ambiguous, and the inspection items are limited to the appearance and fixation status. As a result, the safety of divers in propeller accidents is not guaranteed. Therefore, this study was conducted to specify the current legal requirements for the installation and inspection of propeller guards. To achieve this goal, we conducted a thorough analysis of the current state of domestic and foreign propeller guards and the legal factors pertaining to safety standards. Based on this analysis, we identified specific areas for improvement and proposed a plan to enhance the system for installation and inspection. The installation standards for propeller guards were clearly outlined in terms of the lattice size and material. Additionally, inspection standards were proposed for appearance, fixation, and material condition, along with clear indicators for assessing them.

  • Most machines are made of several types of . In particular, the shaft system of the ship consists of the brass of the propeller blade and the stainless steel of the shaft. When dissimilar the electrolyte solution of seawater, a voltaic cell and a shaft electromotive force is generated. This electromotive force causes electrical corrosion of the bearing and shaft supporting the shaft system. prevent this corrosion, a shaft grounding system is installed in ships. As for the experimental method, various information acquired by designing a program to periodically measure the electromotive force of the controllable pitchpropeller) system using an A/D converter of NI. This study analyzed the generation and characteristics of accumulator electromotive force for CPP and considered the installation location of the grounding system to remove the accumulator electromotive force.
