This paper briefly introduces efforts into space debris modeling towards a better understanding of space debris environment. Space debris modeling mainly consists of debris generation and orbit propagation. Debris generation can characterize and predict physical properties of fragments originating from explosions or collisions. Orbit propagation can characterize, track, and predict the behavior of individual or groups of space objects. Therefore, space debris modeling can build evolutionary models as essential tools to predict the stability of the future space debris populations. Space debris modeling is also useful and effective to improve the efficiency of measurements to be aware of the present environment.

For effective part modifications which is necessary in the design process frequently, variational geometric modeling with constraint management being used in a wide. Most variational geometric modeling methods, however, manage just the constraints about sketch elements used for generation of primitives. Thus, not only constraint propagation but also re-build of various modeling operations stored in the modeling history is necessary iota part geometry modifications. Especially, re-build of high-cost Boolean operations is apt to deteriorate overall modeling efficiency abruptly. Therefore, in this paper we proposed an algorithm that can handle all geometric entities of the part directly. For this purpose, we introduced eight type geometric constraints to the various geometric calculations about all geometric entities in sweepings and Boolean operations as well as the existing constraints of the sketch elements. The algorithm has a merit of rapid part geometric modifications through only constraint propagation without rebuild of modeling operations which are necessary in the existing variational geometric modeling method.
Fingerprinting method is useful when estimating the location of a requestor based on LTE signals in an urban area. To do this, it is necessary to acquire location-based signals everywhere in the service area for fingerprint DB generation in advance. However, there may be signal uncollected area within a wide service area, which may cause a problem that the positioning accuracy of the requestor is low. In order to solve this problem, in this paper, signal propagation modeling is performed based on the obtained measurements, and based on this model, the signal information in the non-acquisition region is estimated. To this end, techniques for modeling signal propagation according to a method using measurements are proposed. The performance of the proposed techniques is verified based on the measurements obtained on a test bed selected as Seocho-gu, Seoul. As a result, it can be seen that signal propagation modeling performed based on multidivision segmented measurements has the most performance improvement.

Recently, the early detection and prevention of worm research is mainly studying based on the analysis of generalized worm propagation property. However, it is not easy to do Worm early detection with its attributes because the modeling method for Worm propagation is vague and not specified yet. Worm scanning method is exceedingly effect to Worm propagation process. This paper describes a modeling method and its simulations to estimate various worm growth patterns and their corresponding propagation algorithms. It also tests and varies the impact of various improvements, starting from a trivial simulation of worm propagation and the underlying network infrastructure. It attempts to determine the theoretical maximum propagation speed of worms and how it can be achieved. Moreover, we present the feasibility of the proposed model based on real testbed for verification.

An Internet worm is a self-replicating malware program which uses a computer network. As the network connectivity among computers increases, Internet worms have become widespread and are still big threats. There are many approaches to model the propagation of Internet worms such as Code Red, Nimda, and Slammer to get the insight of their behaviors and to devise possible defense methods to suppress worms' propagation activities. The influence of the network characteristics on the worm propagation has usually been modeled by medical epidemic model, named SI model, due to its simplicity and the similarity of propagation patterns. So far, SI model is still dominant and new variations of the SI model, called SI-style models, are being proposed for the modeling of new Internet worms. In this paper, we elaborate the problems of SI-style models and then propose a new accurate stochastic model using an occupancy problem.

Worm attacks can greatly distort network performance, and countering infections can exact a heavy toll on economic and technical resources. Worm modeling helps us to better understand the spread and propagation of worms through a network, and combining effective types of mitigation techniques helps prevent and mitigate the effects of worm attacks. In this paper, we propose a mathematical model which combines both dynamic quarantine and passive benign worms. This Passive Worm Dynamic Quarantine (PWDQ) model departs from previous models in that infected hosts will be recovered either by passive benign worms or quarantine measure. Computer simulation shows that the performance of our proposed model is significantly better than existing models, in terms of decreasing the number of infectious hosts and reducing the worm propagation speed.
Deformation of rock masses is not only related to rock itself, but also related to discontinuities, the latter maybe greater. Study on crack propagation at discontinuities is important to reveal the damage law of rock masses. DDARF is a discontinuous deformation analysis method for rock failure and some modified algorithms are proposed in this study. Firstly, coupled modeling methods of AutoCAD-DDARF and ANSYS-DDARF are introduced, which could improve the modeling efficiency of DDARF compared to its original program. Secondly, a convergence criterion for automatically judging the computation equilibrium is established, it could overcome subjective drawbacks of ending one calculation by time steps. Lastly but not the least, relationship between the super relaxation factor and the calculation convergence is analyzed, and reasonable value range of the super relaxation factor is obtained. Based on these above modified programs, influences on crack propagation of joint angle, joint parameters and geo-stresses' side pressure are studied.

As the crack grows in the residual stress fields, the distribution of the residual stress is changed. In this study, a finite element modeling technique is developed to simulate the redistribution of residual stress due to crack propagation. To certify the accuracy, the crack propagation tests were carried out and tile effective stress intensity factor range was evaluated considering the redistribution of residual stress from the FE analysis.

Numerous types of models have been developed in recent years in response to the cyber threat posed by worms in order to analyze their propagation and predict their spread. Some of the most important ones involve mathematical modeling techniques such as Epidemic, AAWP (Analytical Active Worm Propagation Modeling) and LAAWP (Local AAWP). However, most models have several inherent limitations. For instance, they target worms that employ random scanning in the entire nv4 network and fail to consider the effects of countermeasures, making it difficult to analyze the extent of damage done by them and the effects of countermeasures in a specific network. This paper extends the equations and parameters of AAWP and LAAWP and suggests ALAAWP (Advanced LAAWP), a new worm simulation technique that rectifies the drawbacks of existing models.
The objective of this study was to develop a simple and efficient numerical modeling technique for dynamic crack propagation using the finite element method. The study focused on the analysis of a rapidly propagation crack in an elastic body. As already known, discrete crack tip advance with the stationary node procedure results in spurious oscillation in the calculated energy terms. To reduce the spurious oscillation, a simple and efficient moving node procedure is proposed. The procedure does require neither remeshing the discretization nor distorting the original mesh. Two different central difference schemes are also evaluated and compared for dynamic crack propagation problem.
