  • In this paper, we propose a content-based image retrieval using the color ratio and moment of object region. We acquire an optimal spatial information by the region splitting that utilizes horizontal-vertical projection and dominant color. It is based on hypothesis that an object locates in the center of image. We use color ratio and moment as feature informations. Those are extracted from the splitted regions and have the invariant property for various transformation, and besides, similarity measure utilizes a modified histogram intersection to acquire correlation information between bins in a color histogram. In experimental results, the proposed method shows more flexible and efficient performance than existing methods based on region splitting.

  • The shape of womens breast is the most important part of body silhouette. For the high-fitted clothes, in particular, more refined brassiere effective enough to show the beautiful line of female breast is asked. This study focuses on comparing the difference of the two different textiles of brassiere as to their effectiveness as a brassiere. The Stockman Lingerie Mannequin made by England is used for the draping method for the brassiere pattern. Two different brassieres of stretchable and unstretchable(cotton) textiles respectively were made out of this pattern, and the difference of effectiveness wearing the two brassieres was compared. 30 females ranging in the ages of 19 through 24, and whose size is 75A were selected as the test group who are to wear them. The result of each measurement proves that the cotton brassiere is more effective than the stretchable brassiere as a whole considering center concentration of breast, projection of breast, and bust up function. The result of the test on satisfaction of wearing brassiere was also in favor of cotton brassiere as to projection effect, bust up effect, making a good shape of bust. For the cup, in particular, unstretchable textile is more effective for making a breast look better.

  • In this work, soft sensor based on image anlaysis is proposed for quantitatively estimating the visual appearance of manufactured products and is applied to quality monitoring. The methodology consists of three steps; (1) textural feature extraction from product images using wavelet transform, (2) numerical estimation of the product appearance through projection of the textural features on subspace, and (3) use of latent variables of textural features (i.e., numerical estimates of product appearance). The focus of this approach is on the consistent and quantitative estimation of continuous variations in visual appearance rather than on classification into discrete classes. This approach is illustrated through the application to the estimation and monitoring of the appearance of engineered stone countertops.

  • Ultrastructure of ocellar system was studied in adult Drosophila melanogaster. Ocellus was composed of terminal receptors, interneuron and glia. These three part showed different brightness each other and each component was distinct. In the glial cell, rER was abundant, and terminal receptors and interneuron showed numerous microtubules, special transporting system. The terminal receptors have particular structure referred as capital projection connecting the terminal receptor to glia. In synaptic active zone between terminal receptor and interneuron, ribbon-like structures and synaptic vesicles around the structures were frequently observed. In addition, the cross section of giant interneuron was also observed.

  • We presented a very fast and robust method of text line segmentation based on the DCT blocks of color image without decompression and binary transformation processes. Using DC and another three primary AC coefficients from block DCT we created a gray-scale image having reduced size by 8x8. In order to detect and locate white strips between text lines we analyzed horizontal and vertical projection profiles of the image and we applied a direct markov model to recover the missing white strips by estimating hidden periodicity. We presented performance results. The results showed that our method was 40 - 100 times faster than traditional method.

  • This study proposes measures and methods to reduce healthcare associated infections by comparing and analyzing the bacterial contamination level before and after putting on personal protective equipment (PPE) on the test equipment and the contact infected patients getting chest PA projections. Among the 50 inpatients who were diagnosed with C. difficile, MRSA, and VRE, 28 patients who were instructed to undergo chest PA projection and follow-up were chosen, The 3 parts that come in contact with the detector, chin, chest, and hands, were designated for all, and the bacterial contamination level before and after disinfection and before and after putting PPE was determined. Statistical analysis was performed using Medcalc version 14, and quantitative analysis was performed using paired student t-test, with statistical significance being noted at p<0.05. Results for the comparison of the mean values before and after disinfection of the detector, chin (3.000), chest (2.000), and hands (3.430), showed that the number of bacteria after disinfection was lower than it was before disinfection. Analyzing for each part before and after disinfection, there were statistically significant differences for the chin, chest, and hands (p<0.01). Results for the comparison of the mean values before and after putting on PPE, chin (2.202), chest (2.140), and hands (4.213), showed that the number of bacteria after putting on PPE was lower than it was before putting on PPE. Analyzing for each part before and after putting on PPE, there were statistically significant differences for the chin, chest, and hands (p<0.03). As a result, it was confirmed that the number of bacteria after putting on PPE was lower than it was before putting it on. In the future, expanding the research scope for contact infected patients will establish standards for quarantine guidelines depending on the way it spreads, and contribute to the prevention of healthcare associated infections.

  • A series of studies such as geological logging data analysis, detailed geological survey, rock mass evaluation, in-situ and laboratory tests, rock strength and mechanical properties of the rock were concerned. The stability of the slope were carried out inorder to design the pit slope and individual benches using the stereographic projection analysis and numerical methods in Roto Pit of Pasir coal fetid. The bedding plane was one of the major discontinuities in the Roto Pit and the dip of which is about $60^{\circ}$in the northern part and $83^{\circ}$in the southern part. The dip of bedding becomes steeper from north to south. The plane and toppling failures are presented in many slopes. In laboratory test the average uniaxial compressive strength of mudstone was 9 MPa and that of weak sandstone was 10 MPa. In-situ test showed that the rocks of Roto north mining area are mostly weak enough to be classified in grade from R2(weak) to R3(medium strong weak) and the coal is classified in grades from R1(Very weak) to R2(Weak). The detailed stability analysis were carried out on 4 areas of Roto north(east, west, south and north), and 2 areas of Roto south(east and west). In this paper, the minimum factor of safety was set to 1.2 which is a general criterion for open pit mines. Using the stereographic projection analysis and the limit equilibrium method, slope angles were calculated as 30~$36^{\circ}$for a factor of safety greater than 1.2. Then these results were re-evaluated by numerical analysis using FLAC. The final slope angles were determined by rational described abode. A final slope of 34 degrees can guarantee the stability for the eastern part of the Roto north area, 33 degrees for the western part, 35 degrees for the northern part and 35 degrees for the southern part. For the Roto south area, 36 degrees was suggested for both sides of the pit. Once the pit slope is designed based on the stability analysis and the safety measures. the stability of 니ope should be checked periodically during the mining operations. Because the slope face will be exposed long time to the rain fall, a study such aspreventive measures against weathering and erosion is highly recommended to be implemented.

  • Some industrial steel structures are composed by components linked by several welding joints to constitute an assembly. The main interest of assembly simulation is to evaluate the global distortion of welded structure. The general method, thermo-elasto-plastic analysis, leads to excessive model size and computation time. In this study, a simplified method called "Local and Global approach" was developed to break down this limit and to provide a accurate solution for distortion. Local and global approach is composed of 3 steps; 1) Local simulation of each welding joint on a dedicated mesh (usually very fine due to high thermal gradients), taking into account for the non linearity of the material properties and the moving heat source. 2) Transfer to the global model of the effects of the welding joints by projection of the plastic strain tensors. 3) Elastic simulation to determine final distortions in global model. The welding deformation test for mock-up structure was performed to verify this approach. The predicted welding distortion by this approach had a good agreement with experiment results.

  • This study aims at providing a set of viable answers regarding the projection and cartographic scale of Daedongyeojido through a GIS-based planimetric accuracy analysis. Both global and local analyses were undertaken in the use of an analytical tool, MapAnalyst. The main results from the global analysis are threefold. First, the overall cartographic scale turned out to be between 1:158,000 and 1:162,000. Second, the rotation angles were between $2^{\circ}$ and $3^{\circ}$, and the equidistant cylindrical projection reported the smallest value. Third, in terms of position accuracy, the conformal cylindrical projection showed a best fit to the map. A local analysis was undertaken for the conformal cylindrical and equidistant azimuthal projections and its main results are threefold. First, the largest distortions in terms of the displacement vectors and distortion grid were found in the northern borderlands. Second, from the isoline maps of scales, it was acknowledged that local scales between 1:170,000 and 1:175,000 were found around the middle part of the Korean peninsula centered on Seoul. As away from the region to the north-south direction, increasingly larger scales were distributed, while the smallest ones were found in the western and eastern edges of the peninsula. Third, from the isoline maps of rotation, it was known that areas west of a northernmost city (Junggangjin) were substantially rotated to the west, while ones east of it to the east. For a more sophisticated analysis, some need to be done to have a larger set of control points, a better way of postulating the map projection, and a more advanced set of techniques for a local analysis.
