챔피언 프로젝트를 통한 원가절감 극대화 사례 연구 (A Case Study of Champion Project to Maximize Cost Reduction)

  • Motorola developed the framework of six sigma in 1987. In these days, many companies adapt this powerful tool. In 1996, six sigma was introduced to the Korean companies as a management innovation tool. This study shows case study of 'Champion Project' which was adopted on one Korean company. The champion project is directed by the leader who has a champion belt. The project focus on the processes optimization problem or resource concentration problem to solve critical issues inside of the process. This case study shows the result of champion project. The effect was encouraging in the aspect of effectiveness and efficiency. The most important point of this study is an introduction of the third generation six sigma which was successively adopted on the Korean company.

  • 본 연구는 국내 공공 및 민간 부문 전자, 통신, 기계, 화학분야 22개 연구기관 92개 팀을 대상으로 수집한 실증 자료를 통해 프로젝트 리더에 의한 챔피언 리더십이 팀에 대한 자원 공급 및 조직 지원, 팀원들의 팀 효력에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다. 분석결과 프로젝트 리더의 챔피언 리더십은 높은 수준의 조직 지원 및 자원 공급과 관련되어 있으며, 프로젝트 리더의 챔피언 리더십을 높게 지각하는 팀의 팀원들은 보다 높은 수준의 팀 효력을 보였다. 또한, 프로젝트 유형 및 혁신 분위기는 챔피언 리더십과 자원 공급 및 조직 지원, 팀 효력 사이의 관계를 조절하고 있음을 발견하였다. 끝으로, 연구결과의 이론적 및 실무적 시사점이 논의되고 연구의 한계점과 미래의 연구방향이 제시되었다.

  • The study attempts to propose and test a causal research model using SEM (Structural Equation Model) to determine whether there is a relationship between six sigma champion's transformational leadership and belts' creativity based on the mediated effects of intrinsic motivation and project's learning and growth. The subjects of the study composed of 134 belts from manufacturing and service firms implemented six sigma. Empirical results show that transformational leadership is positively related to intrinsic motivation and project learning and growth. In addition, intrinsic motivation and project learning and growth are positively related to creativity. The results of the study imply that creativity of six sigma belts would be enhanced by implementation of six sigma projects and utilizing six sigma tools and methods.

프로젝트 팀 리더의 역할과 팀성과 (Project Team Leader's Roles and Team Performance)

  • This Study has empirically examined the relationship between the role of R & D project leaders and their team performance using data from 87 project teams in 6 R & d organizations. The results reveal that : 1) R & D project leaders play five different roles for performing their jobs-strategic plannar, team builder, gatekeeper, expert and champion : 2) all but the champion role of leaders are positively associated with project team performance unless they have too short team tenure to materialize their role efforts : 3) However, the relationship between the role of leaders and project team performance varies according to characteristics of their team and project tasks. More specifically, it becomes more important for leaders to focus on gatekeeping and championing roles as their team gats older. Team building role of leaders is more important for higher performance of relatively certain R & D projects, while for uncertain R & D projects gatekeeping role appears to be more important.

객체지향 기술의 확산에 영향을 주는 요인에 관한 경험적 연구 (An Empirical Study on the Factors Affecting Diffusion of Objeccl-Oriented Technology)

  • Object-orientation has been proposed as a promising software process innovation to improve software productivity and quality. It has not been understood clearly, however, what factors influences the diffusion of object-oriented technology in organizations. A research model was formulated and hypotheses were generated based on the literature of information technology implementation and software process innovation. To test the research hypotheses, a questionnaire survey was conducted. The results based on 121 responses from Korean companies revealed that project characteristics, use of external experts, and number of development projects are significantly related to the diffusion of object-oriented analysis and design and object-oriented programming. Innovation champion is positively related to the diffusion of object-oriented analysis and design, whereas it is not related to the diffusion of object-oriented programming language. Only project complexity was significantly related to the diffusion of visual programming language. On the other hand, organizational size was not significantly related to any object-oriented technology in this study.

  • The five-year national project in Japan for R&D of coated conductors and applications, named as the Materials and Power Applications of Coated Conductors (M-PACC) project, was finished at the end of FY2013. The project consists of four sub-themes as cable, transformer, SMES and coated conductors. In the theme of coated conductors, the fabrication process had been developed to satisfy the requirements from the applications such as in-field $I_c$ performance, low AC loss in the long tapes etc. Through the project, the remarkable progress was achieved as follows; a high in-field minimum $I_c$ value over 54A/cm-width under 3T at 77K was realized in a 200m long EuBCO tape with artificial pinning centers of $BaHfO_3$ by the pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique on the IBAD template. On the other hand, the AC loss reduction was confirmed in the tapes fabricated by both PLD and the metal organic deposition (MOD) techniques by scribing 100m tapes into 10-filamments. Additionally, the mechanism of the delamination phenomenon was systematically investigated and the strength was improved by eliminating the origins of the weak points in the films. Through the development, all targeted goals were accomplished and the several results were appreciated as a world champion data.

  • 본 논문은 기업내의 수직적 기술이전 문제를 다룬 사례연구로서 한 건설업체의 연구소에서 이루어진 기술개발 결과가 사업부문의 현장에 이전 활용되는 과정에서 기술이전 정도가 어떤 요인에 의해 영향을 받는지 분석하였다. 사례분석 결과 D건설의 경우 기술이전팀 및 프로젝트 추진자(Project Champion)의 존재여부가 기술이전의 성패에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며 최고경영자의 적극적인 지원도 성공적인 기술이전에 강한 긍정적인 요인이 되는 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 당초 사례분석의 틀에서 고려하지 않았던 기술인지도나 기술수용자의 시장평가가 기술수용 노력에 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 사내기술이전시 이러한 요인들을 고려한다면 보다 효과적인 기술이전이 될 것으로 기대된다.

6시그마 도입을 통한 EOP 측정시스템 개선 사레연구 : D사의 6시그마 활동 사례를 중심으로 (A Case Study for Improvement of EOP Measurement System through 6 Sigma Introduction)

  • This paper is dealing with a 6 sigma application in chemical industries. The company is enterprise which produce PR that is semiconductor material. CTQ is consisted of thickness (Big Y$_1$) and EOP (Big Y$_2$). After 6 sigma improvement activity that thickness (Big Y$_1$) improved from 0.98 sigma to 2.80 sigma and EOP (Big Y$_2$, energy optimizer) improved from 1.53 sigma to 3.98 sigma. The effectiveness of financial scope reduced 58,200,000 won of COPQ. But there are some problems to enforce 6 sigma in small enterprises. First, it is a lack of complete charge manpower enforcing S sigma activity. Second, it is a lack of professional knowledge of project leaders. Third, the passion of sponsorship (champion) is a lacking. Nevertheless useful tool was certified so that 6 sigma achieves quality reform in small enterprises.

IT 투자 정당화 요인에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Factors for IT Investment Justification)

  • Although actual business environment is getting difficult and hard, IT companies tend to shy away from of annual investment. Many firms have already reached the 25 percent level. However, the profit and the result of their annual investment needs to be evaluated objectively. IT investment analysis usually proceeds by comparing benefits and costs of an IT investment. Much of the problem derives from the historical treatment of IT as an overhead expense rather than a capital asset. What is most worrying about the current situation is the pressure to take a very short-term view of IT. Therefore, this research aims to analyses and justify the necessity of Visionary IT Investment. For this, it is crucial to identify the factors, which affect positively Visionary IT Investment and understand the role of CIO and explain the result of Visionary IT Investment, which is differed to related business and by different business environment. As a result of this study, the legitimacy of IT Investment is proved through analyzing the business value of not investing and cost-avoidance strategies.
