Development of a C-Language Learning Tool using Console Wrapper (Console Wrapper를 활용한 C언어 학습도구 개발)

  • The majority of programming education in the learning place attaches importance more to grammar, memorization of the imperative sentence and explanation of the program language itself than the specific way to use the target language. In addition, it is mainly used to teach theoretical knowledge based on the text. Consequently, current programming education has not interested learners in the programming learning and has not improved their ability in programming problems of the real world. We therefore developed a learning tool of C-language, which is based on the Console Wrapper. The purpose of proposing the learning tool was to make the programming education break from the typical theoretical learning and to let learners be interested in the programming education. By using the dynamic screen instead of the static console screen, the learners could enjoy learning the program. As a result of this study, we could know that the programming education using our learning tool is more effective than the typical C language programming education.

  • Programming is very important subject in computer science and similar computer-related areas such as electronics engineering, etc. Programming is also important for information education for elementary, middle, and high school students since programming is one of the most basic subjects in computer science courses and other similar areas. In current information and knowledge society, raising programming ability is a key factor for everyone's competitiveness. With highly-competitive programming ability, one can enjoy his or her daily life abundantly. He or she also can get a highly-paid job, and make money using his or her programming ability. In this paper, a programming ability assessment tool is developed and introduced for the no-programming experienced. It is very difficult to test programming ability for the no-programming experienced with non-programming tools or activities. In this paper, a programming ability assessment tool is developed based on logical thinking ability. Especially the proposed tool consists of 15 questions for test one's logical thinking ability. The tool does not require any computer science or programming background. The proposed tool will be helpful as criteria for entrance examination or job screening examination for programming-related areas or subjects.

  • In this paper, we present the application of knowledge-based system technique for generating of PLC ladder diagram The developed prototype system receives a time chart as an input and generates a ladder logic as its output This results in the computerization and intellegent processing of PLC programming. The system can be effectively applied to sequence control where the PLC programs need to be frequently changed and generated.

  • There is an increasing concern about computer education with the age of knowledge-based society. The learning programming language is taking an important role of computer education. However, the special emphasis in learning programming language has been attached to memorizing the programming language by rote and learning computer programs. Therefore, those were not much useful tools to develope a logical intelligence of the meanings of programming language and the methods of realization. It is positively necessary to improve the programming education efficiently because of the objects of knowledge of computing and raising an efficiency of problem solving. Under the circumstances, this research is aimed at representing an useful education model through developing a mathmatical program into each part of the C programming language, which would be a new supplier of an basic insight into the programming language and techniques. Accordingly it is thought that the research material will be an useful model to increase interests and concerns as well as to raise an efficiency of problem solving or a logical intelligence going through the process of studying programming language.

  • Games such as baseball, soccer are scheduled by a given game type such as tournament, league or their mixed form. The objective of this paper is to find an efficient game-scheduling method with respect to traveling distance, break-time and other conditions. In this paper we first present two models which minimize traveling distance. The first model that a match is played once each other is solved by a heuristic method. In the second model that a match is played more than once, teams are paired by a modified 0 - 1 programming, and the pairs are rearranged in order to generate a number of workable schedules. Then Expert Systems is applied to solve breake-time and other conditions. In order to represent expertise's knowledge effectively, we present a new design of knowledge-base and data-base, inference engine including many rules and meta-rules which controls the global system. In knowledge-base, binary relation among various attributes is used to ease not only knowledge acquisition but also system execution.

  • As we have entered into the 21st century knowledge and information society, the necessity of computer education has emerged and even its expectation is getting bigger. In spite of that, the present computer education neglects computer programming education which may be the basis of information, as understanding it only as the ability to utilize computer that deals with the usage of application program. Through the programming experience, students are likely tn understand abstract concepts on computer hardware, and to acquire knowledge needed tn solve problems given to them through computer. In this paper, on the basis of the significance and necessity in programming education, using a questionnaire, analyzed the necessity in programming education based upon responses of elementary school teachers to investigate the recognition analysis of elementary school teachers about programming education in elementary schools.

  • The manual construction of the knowledge-base takes much time and effort, and it is hard to adjust intelligence systems to dynamic and flexible environment. Thus mental development in those systems has been investigated in recent years. Autonomous mental development is a new paradigm for developing autonomous machines, which are adaptive and flexible to the environment. Learning conversation, a kind of mental development, is an important aspect of conversational agents. In this paper, we propose a learning conversation method for conversational agents which uses several promising techniques; speech-act templates and genetic programming. Knowledge acquisition of conversational agents is implemented by finite state machines and templates, and dynamic sentence generation is implemented by genetic programming Several illustrations and usability tests how the usefulness of the proposed method.

The Allocation of Inspection Efforts Using a Knowledge Based System

  • The location of inspection stations is a significant component of production systems. In this paper, a prototype expert system is designed for deciding the optimal location of inspection stations. The production system is defined as a single channel of n serial operation stations. The potential inspection station can be located after any of the operation stations. Nonconforming units are generated from a compound binomial distribution with known parameters at any given operation station. Traditionally Dynamic programming, Zero-one integer programming, or Non-linear programming techniques are used to solve this problem. However a problem with these techniques is that the computation time becomes prohibitively large when t be number of potential inspection stations are fifteen or more. An expert system has the potential to solve this problem using a rule-based system to determine the near optimal location of inspection stations. This prototype expert system is divided into a static database, a dynamic database and a knowledge base. Based on defined production systems, the sophisticated rules are generated by the simulator as a part of the knowledge base. A generate-and-test inference mechanism is utilized to search the solution space by applying appropriate symbolic and quantitative rules based on input data. The goal of the system is to determine the location of inspection stations while minimizing total cost.

American Television: A Source of Nutrition Education and Information

  • Television is a powerful and persuasive teacher. It has the potential to influence perceptions, knowledge, beliefs, and behaviors, thus nutritionists need to be aware of the nutrition-related information (NRI) in television programming and the effect this information has on viewers. The purpose of this article was to review research published in peer-reviewed journals between 1988 and 2003 that examined the NRI embedded in American television programming, which is exported to over 125 nations, and its impact on nutrition knowledge, attitudes, and/or behaviors. This review revealed that, for the past 15 years, NRI was commonly included in both television advertisements and shows. Advertised foods were mainly high in fat, sodium, and/or sugar. In addition, the NRI embedded in food advertisements tended to be misleading or inaccurate. Prime-time television shows included numerous NRI containing scenes every hour, with situation comedies having the most and real-life re-enactment shows the least. Overall, low nutrient density foods accounted for approximately 40 percent or more of all food references on prime-time television shows. In television shows, foods were mostly consumed as snacks rather than meals and children often ate more nutritious foods than adults. Although relatively few studies have examined the impact of television programming on viewers, those that do exist indicate that as children watch more television, nutrition knowledge and understanding declines while misconceptions about nutrition increase. Advertising influences children's food purchase requests and subsequent purchases by adults, with the most requested and purchased foods being high in sugar, fat, and/or salt foods. Existing research indicates that television must be acknowledged as a major source of NRI and a potentially powerful influence on dietary practices.

An Investigation of the Perception of Pre-service Teachers on Instructional Design based on Programming (프로그래밍 기반 수업 설계에 대한 예비 교사의 인식 조사)

  • 테크놀로지의 발달에 따라 Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge(TPACK)의 중요성이 증가하고 있다. 이에 따라 김성원과 이영준(2017)은 TPACK에서 테크놀로지의 도구를 프로그래밍까지 확장한 TPACK-Programming(TPACK-P) 교육 모델을 제안하였다. 또한, TPACK-P 교육 모델을 기반으로 TPACK-P 교육 프로그램을 개발하였으며, 예비 교사에게 적용하여 효과를 검증하였다. 그 결과, 다른 영역의 지식 발달에는 효과적이지만, Technological Content Knowledge(TCK)와 Technological Knowledge(TK)에는 영향을 주지 못하였다. 본 연구는 TPACK-P 교육 프로그램이 모든 영역의 지식 발달에 효과적이도록 만들기 위해서 예비 교사를 대상으로 TPACK-P 교육 프로그램을 적용하고, TPACK-P 교육 프로그램에 대한 인식을 조사하였다. 그 결과, 예비 교사는 프로그래밍 학습, 교과와 교육과정에 맞는 프로그램 설계, 프로그램 제작 과정에서 어려움이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 이러한 어려움을 극복하기 위해서 프로그래밍 학습의 강화와 프로그래밍 수업 설계 예시의 탐색이 필요하다고 말하였다. 이러한 연구 결과를 통하여 TCK와 TK의 향상을 위하여 프로그래밍을 효과적으로 가르치기 위한 교육 방안과 예비 교사의 교과 내용과 프로그래밍의 연결을 촉진하기 위한 내용이 TPACK-P 교육 모델에 보완되어야 한다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.
