Methods: This study was designed using nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest. The '5&6 smoking cessation program' was applied to the experimental group 1(28 students). The '5 days smoking cessation program' was applied to the experimental group 2(19 students). Control group was 53 students. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, $X^2$-test, Fisher's exact test, Independent-sample t-test, Paired t-test, ANOVA, Wilcoxon signed ranks test, Cronbach's coefficient alpha. Results: The '5&6 program' was significantly increased on smoking self-efficacy, stage of smoking cessation behavior change, Cons. for smoking and significantly decreased on daily smoking amount, urine cotinine level than control group. The '5 days program' was significantly decreased on urine cotinine level and Pros. for smoking than control group. The '5&6 program' was significantly increased on stage of smoking cessation behavior change than '5 days program'. Conclusion: This study showed that the '5&6 program and the '5 days program' are effective in adolescent's smoking cessation behaviors.

  • The purpose of the study was to identify the effects of inpatient cardiac rehabilitation programs on motivation, the performance of health behavior, and quality of life in patients with coronary artery disease. The subjects consisted of 31 patients who participated in the rehabilitation program during their hospital stay, and were compared with 34 patients who did not participate. The study results are as follows: 1. The mean of cardiac risk factor scores for the subjects was 22.5 (SD = 5.5) at the level of low to moderate risk with some possibility to improve. The physiological and behavioral risk factors for the subjects were also in the normal range or slightly above the normal range. 2. The motivation level to preform health behaviors for both groups was improved after discharge. Also, perceived self-efficacy was significantly higher for the program participants than for the comparison group at the post-test. 3. The performance of cardiac related health behaviors improved for both groups after discharge, but there were no significant differences between the two groups. The program participants reported better performance in most health behaviors at the post-test, but the results failed to reach a statistical significant level. 4. As for motivation and health behavior, the subjects in the both groups showed an improved quality of life after the discharge. In addition, the program participants produced significantly higher scores in health and functioning dimension than the comparison group during the post-test. In conclusion, the study partially supported the effects of the inpatient cardiac rehabilitation program to motivate and improve the quality of life, and provide the need to apply early rehabilitation interventions for the patients after cardiac events. Further study with a longitudinal design is also suggested to verify the effect of cardiac rehabilitation program from hospitalization to discharge and subsequently to fully recover to the level of pre-hospitalized state.

The subjects were 30 36-75-month old children attending daycare centers in Ansan city, South Korea. The results showed that the receptive and expressive language levels of children from multi-cultural families were low compared to those of other children, and that their expressive language level was evaluated more negatively than their receptive language level. After participating in the 'We Start Language Intervention Program', language test scores, language age and language percentile rank were all increased. It was also found that the developmental language level of multi-cultural children increased, and that of the children that had a language delay or language disorder decreased.

  • This study is aimed at investigating optimum level of payments in the direct payment program for aquaculture extruded pellets both theoretically and practically by analyzing the effects on production and income in accordance with Green Box conditions of WTO Agreement on Agriculture. In particular, by analyzing both effects on production and income, it evaluates and compares payments affecting to the level of production and income, respectively. Analysis results indicate that the optimum level of payments in the direct payment program for aquaculture extruded pellets is determined by the growth rate of farmed fish, farming period, price and volume of extruded pellets, and additional amount of cost increase and decrease. Suppose that growth rates of farmed fish by extruded pellets(EP) and raw fish - based moist pellets(MP) are the same, it reveals the optimum level of payment should be lowered from the current level of payment. However, when the growth rate of farmed fish by EP is lower than that by MP, the optimum level of payment should be raised from the current level and total amount of payments by area should be increased as well.

  • This study was conducted to find out the effects of plant cultivation activities in the village gardening program hosted by Gyeonggi-do on the psychology and physiology of participants. This study conducted a survey on 20 villagers aged 57.70±9.23 on average and collected their saliva before Session 1 and after the final Session 10. The experiment was conducted by carrying out the village gardening program once a week for total 10 weeks. Psychological assessment was conducted by measuring the level of plant cultivation experience, four elements (repose, fascination, coherence, legibility) of the Perceived Restorativeness Scale (PRS) and stress levels, and also conducting the Wilcoxon paired signed ranks test. As the result of comparatively analyzing the saliva collected before and after the program, the total cortisol level, which is a stress hormone, decreased with statistical significance after the program (t=14.521, p<.001). The level of plant cultivation activities increased with statistical significance after the program, and the PRS increased with statistical significance in the three elements of repose, fascination and legibility excluding coherence. In addition, as the result of examining the change in the stress level of participants with the sum of all item scores, it was found that the stress level decreased with statistical significance (p<.05) from 17.65 points to 15.30 points after the program. Hence, plant cultivation activities in the village community have positive effects such as attention restoration or stress relief. In addition, the activities can also contribute to mental connection and healthcare of residents.

  • Korean's intake of Han-Sik (Korean food) has gradually decreased. The aim of this study was to assess needs for a dietary education program focused on increasing Han-Sik intake (Han-Sik program) in children and adolescents according to education level. A total of 2,858 child and adolescents (elementary students 30.1%; middle school students 34.8%; high school students 35.1%) were recruited in 2015 and 2016, and questionnaires were conducted by self-administration. There were significant differences in diet and health information sources, Han-Sik proportion in school meals, experience of Han-Sik nutritional program, and preference for program composition by education level (p<0.001). The Han-Sik proportion in school meals was 87.4% of the total, which was significantly lower in high school students than in elementary students (p<0.001). The percentage of high school students with Han-Sik nutritional program experience (25.1%) was twice as low than that of elementary students (55.7%) (p<0.001). In addition, the percentage of students with Han-Sik nutritional program experience who responded "The Han-sik program is needed" was significantly higher than those who responded "It is not needed" (p<0.001). The most preferred content was 'Han-Sik cooking training' in all students. In conclusion, differences in needs for Han-Sik program by education level should be considered to develop the Han-Sik program for all education levels to increase Han-Sik consumption and formation of healthy eating habits.
