Bent ducts add loss and decrease efficiency. Many researchers have been conducted the performances of bent ducts, but their shapes of inlet and outlet are same. However, in this investigation, the focus is on a bent duct which is annular at the inlet and circular at the outlet. The bent duct of these complex shapes has not been investigated, but has been used in many fields. The performance of such bent duct is investigated under inlet speed 54 m/s and Re = 238,000. Wall static pressure tappings are located surface of the bent duct to measure the static pressure and a probe is traversed at the inlet and outlet of the bent duct to measure the total pressure. As a result, it presents static pressure distribution on the bent duct surface, streamwise velocity profile at inlet and outlet of the bent duct and total pressure loss profile at outlet. In this investigation, the total pressure loss coefficient is 0.243.
For the study on loss coefficients of turbine cascade with variation of incidence angle, the wind-tunnel tests were performed under the ranges in velocity of 10 m/s, 15 m/s, 20 m/s and incidence angles from $-20^{\circ}\;to\;20^{\circ}$ by intervals of $5^{\circ}$. Comparing our results with Soderberg's prediction, differences in loss coefficient were $2.5\%\;and\;2.8\%$ each for 10 m/s and 15 m/s. A large disagreement of $30.3\%$ was showed at 20 m/s freestream velocity. The comparisons of these test results with Ainley's prediction showed an $8\%$ difference in the case of 20 m/s freestream velocity. Test results were approximately comparable with Ainley's loss prediction's in incidence angles. Generally, averaged total pressure loss seemed to be decreased as Reynolds number increased. The total pressure loss coefficients were increased parabolically, as incidence angles were increased negatively and positively from $0^{\circ}$, in all speed ranges. At the far low freestream velocities, minimum loss accurred between $-5^{\circ}\;and\;+5^{\circ}$. But this minimum range narrowed the location of this range by shifting to the direction of the angle as freestream velocity was increased.
This paper describes a numerical investigation on the performance deteriorations of a low speed, single-stage axial turbine due to use of rough blades. Numerical calculations have been carried out with a commercial CFD code, CFX-Tascflow, by using a modified wall function to implement rough surfaces on the stator vane and rotor blade. To assess the stage performance variations corresponding to 5 equivalent sand-grain roughness heights from a transition ally rough regime to a fully rough regime, stage work coefficient and total to static efficiency were chosen. Numerical results showed that both work coefficient and stage efficiency reduced as roughness height increased. Higher surface roughness induced higher blade loading both on the stator and rotor which in turn resulted in higher deviation angles and corresponding work coefficient reductions. Although, deviation angle changes were small, a simple sensitivity analysis suggested that their contributions on work coefficient reductions were substantial. Higher profile loss coefficients were predicted by higher roughness heights, especially on the suction surface of the stator and rotor. Furthermore sensitivity analysis similar to the above, suggested that additional profile loss generations due to roughness were accountable for efficiency reductions.

Industrial reducer is in general use to Deck Crane. High-precision and high-efficient reducer is minimized the power-loss and energy-loss of a machine. So it contribute the price reduction and life extension. Reducer is usually using the Planetary gear reducer. Planetary gear reducer is composed the sun gear, planet gear, internal gear and casing. Industrial reducer's wear and breakage have a short-life. To solve this problem, it is using the profile-shifted-gear or tooth modification. This study was carried out the effect of addendum modification coefficient on tooth fillet bending strength to planetary reducer. Tooth fillet bending stress is calculate. And all parameter were expressed the function of addendum modification coefficient. And then stress concentration factor of tooth fillet curve was express the function of addendum modification coefficient using comparison between theory and finite element analysis.

Under the assumption that thermal conductivity of the fin is constant and the conditions ate steady state, effects of non-constant and thermally asymmetric root temperature and unequal surrounding convection coefficients of the fin on the heat loss from a fin of rectangular profile are investigated. The heat loss form a rectangular fin becomes maximum when the highest root temperature deviates from the fin center to the fin side which has a higher convection coefficient as surrounding convection coefficients of the fin increase and as the difference between the convection coefficient of fin top side and that of fin bottom side increases.

The test facility has been manufactured to predict the dynamic insertion loss and the pressure drop for ducted silencers based on ISO 7235. The qualification test of the test facility is necessary for determining the dynamic insertion loss and the pressure drop of the test silencer, and is surveyed the reflection coefficient for an anechoic termination, the velocity profile near the upstream connection to the test silencer, the reduction of the system silencer and the limiting insertion loss due to the flanking sound transmission along the duct walls.

The heat transfer and flow characteristics of gas turbine blade tip were investigated in this paper by using the conjugate heat transfer analysis. The rotor inlet boundary condition profile which was taken from the first stage nozzle outlet was used to analyse. The profile contained the velocity and temperature information. This study presents the influence of tip clearance about aerodynamic loss, heat transfer coefficient and film cooling effectiveness with the squealer tip designed blade model which tip clearance variation range from 1% to 2.5% of span. Results showed that the aerodynamic loss and the heat transfer coefficient were increased when the tip clearance was increased. Especially when the tip clearance was 2% of the span, the average heat transfer coefficient on the tip region was increased obviously. The film cooling effectiveness of tip region was increasing with decreasing of the tip clearance. There was high film cooling effectiveness at cavity and near tip hole region.
Urban sewer systems are designed to operate in open-channel flow regime and energy loss at square manholes is usually not significant. However, the energy loss at surcharged manholes is considered as one of the major causes of inundation in urban area. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the head loss associated with manholes, especially in surcharged flow. Hydraulic experimental apparatus which can change the manhole inner profile(CASE I, II, III, and IV) and the invert types(CASE A, B, C) were installed for this study. The experimental discharge was $16{\ell}/sec$. As the ratio of b/D(manhole width/inflow pipe diameter) increases, head loss coefficient increases due to strong horizontal swirl motion. The head loss coefficients for CASE I, II, III, and IV were 0.46, 0.38, 0.28 and 0.37, respectively. Side covers increase considerably drainage capacity at surcharged square manhole when the ratio of d/D(side cover diameter/inflow pipe diameter) was 1.0. The head loss coefficients for CASE A, B, and C were 0.45, 0.37, and 0.30, respectively. Accordingly, U-invert is the most effective for energy loss reduction at surcharged square manhole. This head loss coefficients could be available to evaluate the urban sewer system with surcharged flow.

The non-dimensional convective heat losses from each surface are investigated as a function of the non-dimensional fin length, width and the ratio of upper surface Biot number to bottom surface Biot number (Bi2/Bi1) using the three-dimensional separation of variables method. Heat loss ratio in view of each surface with the variation of Bi2/Bi1 is presented. The variation of the non-dimensioal temperare profile along the fin center line for a thermally asymmetric conditions is also presented.

The resistance coefficient and heat transfer performance are studied for the turbulent water flow in a smooth coiled tube having variable curvature ratios and a corrugated-coiled tube having a ratio of coil to tube diameter of 22. Experiments are carried out for the fully developed turbulent flow of water in tube coils on the uniform wall temperature condition. This work is limited to tube coils of R/a between 22 and 60 and Reynolds numbers from 13000 to 53000. The tube having a ratio of coil to tube diameter of 27 among the 3 smooth tube coils shows the best heat transfer performance. A corrugated-coiled tube(R/a=60) shows more excellent performance than a smooth coiled tub (R/a=60) at a similar curvature ratio. The friction factor f is sensitive to changes in the velocity profile caused by a temperature gradient. Allowance was made for the pressure loss in the short inlet and outlet lengths and due to the presence of the thermocouple inlet and outlet as a result of separate experimental on a straight tube. It is to be expected that the allowance at the exit will be somewhat too low because of secondary flow effects carried over from the coil.
