  • Advanced wireless network and sensor technologies are capable of collecting information such as temperature, humidity, weight, and location about objects at real time in logistics area. Besides, users want to be notified of contextual information about interest of objects whenever they want it and wherever they want it. To satisfy these requirements, applications should collect and analyze contextual information at real time, and must support a service that can notify it to wanted users. Event-based service is one of the way to satisfy these requirement of users. In this paper, we design an event notification system focused on location- and RFID-based logistics area. To do this, we present XML-based event expression model, ECA-based profile definition model, and an algorithm that has high scalability by distinguishing event filtering in two steps. Based on these designs, our implemented system can apply to not only logistics area but also intelligent traffic control system based on RFID or GPS devices.

  • Software architecture, which is the high level model of a software system, should be specified with ADLs (Architecture Description Languages) for its clarity and preciseness. Most of ADLs such as ACME, however, have not come into extensive use in industries since ADL users should learn a distinct notation specific to architecture. On the other hand, UML is a do facto standard general modeling language for software developments. UML provides a consistent notation and various supporting tools during the whole software development cycle. UML, being a general modeling language, does not provide all concepts that are important to architecture description. UML should be extended in order to precisely model architecture. A number of researches on architecture modeling based on WML have been progressed. Ail of them, however, are based on the UML1.x. UML2.0 embraces much more concepts that are important to architecture modeling than UML1.x. In this paper. we defined an architecture modeling language based on UML2.0. We defined Generic ADL by extending UML2.0 and applied the defined Generic ADL to a restaurant reservation system.

  • This paper presents a study on the Full-HD HEVC(High Efficiency Video Coding) encoder IP(Intellectual Property) design. The designed IP is for HEVC main profile 4.1, and performs encoding with a speed of 60 fps of full high definition. Before hardware and software design, overall reference model was developed with C language, and we proposed a parallel processing architecture for low-power consumption. And also we coded firmware and driver programs relating IP. The platform for verification of developed IP was developed, and we verified function and performance for various pictures under several encoding conditions by implementing designed IP to FPGA board. Compared to HM-13.0, about 35% decrease in bit-rate under same PSNR was achieved, and about 25% decrease in power consumption under low-power mode was performed.
