Personal digital assistants: Essential tools for preparing dietetics professionals to use new-generation information technology

  • Rapid integration of information technology into health care systems has included the use of highly portable systems-in particular, personal digital assistants (PDAs). With their large built-in memories, fast processors, wireless connectivity, multimedia capacity, and large library of applications, PDAs have been widely adopted by physicians and nurses for patient tracking, disease management, medical references and drug information, enhancing quality of health care. Many health-related PDA applications are available to both dietetics professionals and clients. Dietetics professionals can effectively use PDAs for client tracking and support, accessing to hospital database or information, and providing better self-monitoring tools to clients. Internship programs for dietetics professionals should include training in the use of PDAs and their dietetics applications, so that new practitioners can stay abreast of this rapidly evolving technology. Several considerations to keep in mind in selecting a PDA and its applications are discussed.

  • Knowledge of health and community psychology in health professionals influences psychosocial and community determinants of health and promoting participation in disease prevention at the community level. This paper appraises the potential of knowledge on psychology in health care professionals and its contribution to community empowerment through individual behavior change and health practice. The authors proposed a schematic model for the use of psychological knowledge in health professionals to promote participation in health interventions/disease prevention programs in developing countries. By implication, the paper provides a vision on policies towards supporting breast cancer secondary prevention efforts for community health development in Asian countries.

연구원의 경력지향성과 보상의 적합도가 성과에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Congruence between Orientations and Reward Systems on the Performance of R&D Professiionals)

  • This study proposed the model of research describing the positive impact of fitness between career orientations and reward systems on the performance of R&D professionals. To prove the propositions of the model, a questionnaire survey was conducted 204 professionals in 19 R&D research institutes related with electronics and communication industries provided answers for the questionnaire. The results of the survey were summarized in the following. 1) Career orientations of R&D professionals can be categorized into three dimensions : managerial, technical/professional, and project orientation. 2) The rewards consist of four dimensions : financial, social status, job content, and professional reward. 3) The age and tenure of R&D professionals has the negative impact on the project orientation. 4) The education level of R&D professionals has the positive impact on the professional orientation. 5) The sex was found as insignificant variable career orientation. 6) The person with strong prefers social status rewards to other rewards, the professional orientation is prefer to professional rewards, and the project orientation is prefer to job content rewards. 7) For the professionals with professional and project orientation, the congruence with each reward delivered positive impact on job satisfaction, job involvement, and organizational commitment. However it created negative impact on turnover intention and job stress.

The effect of Servicescape on the Customer Orientation of Beauty Professionals

  • The purpose of this research study is to analyze the effect of servicescape on customer orientation of skin beauty professionals. To attain the purpose, this study conducted self-administered survey of skin beauty professionals who have been working in Seoul cities and Gyeonggi provinces. by handing out total 438 copies of questionnaire. But 400 copies except for 38 ones of those respondents deemed to be unfaithful responses were analyzed and researched. A total of 400 questionnaire responses were used for data analyses. According to the results of factor analysis, Factor analysis revealed five factors of servicescape-surrounding factors, functionality, aesthetics, safety, and convenience- and three factors of customer orientation of beauty professional-understanding customer needs, beauty professional needs to offer services and meeting customer needs of beauty professionals. The result of regression analysis revealed that as for understanding customer needs of skin beauty professionals, convenience and functionality, safety and aesthetics has significant effects. All five factors of servicescape, safety, aesthetics, functionality, surrounding factors and conveniences, have significant effects on meeting customer needs. Regarding beauty professional needs to offer services, safety, functionality and convenience factor were significant factors. The study is to provide preliminary data on information useful in developing the method for managing and improving servicescape.

전문직 미혼 남녀의 만혼현상에 대한 연구 (Research on the Delayed Family Formation Phenomenon among the Never-married Professionals in Korea: A Qualitative Study with Focus Groups)

  • This study uses qualitative data to examine the dynamics and barriers of the delayed family formation phenomenon among the never-married professionals in Korea. The data was drawn from focus groups of 14 never-married professionals aged 28 through 40. The investigation depicts several dimensions of the circumstances of never-married professionals that have not garnered much attention in the literature. This research provides initial evidence of critical influences within the socio-cultural contexts of the participants' dating behaviors as well as the willingness to many. Two different realities, based on gender, were discovered: both male and female voluntarily delayed marriage to pursue their career, education and success. As both reached their career goals, however, male participants experienced a rise in their value as a marriage prospect whereas females experienced decreased value as a marriage prospect. Hence, neo-traditional familism was the dominant value among the participants, but it also functioned as a major barrier to family formation because in the present value system, female professionals, must still struggle with the dual burdens of work and family management.

국외 기록관리 전문직 유형 및 역할 분석 연구 (A Study on Analysis of Types and Roles of Records Management & Archives Professionals Abroad)

  • 본 연구에서는 기록관리 전문직의 다양한 유형 및 역할 범주에 대한 연구 조사를 수행하였다. 국외 주요관련기관 및 전문직에 관한 선행 연구를 중심으로 내용을 파악하였으며, 파악된 내용을 중심으로 주요 항목들에 관한 내용 분석을 수행하였다. 수행 결과, 기록관리 전문직 유형은 기록물, 이용자, 기관운영과 관련하여 서로 다른 업무영역들이 특화되어 있음을 파악하였고, 이는 다시 기록관을 중심으로 한 대내적인 역할 영역과 기록관과 유관기관들을 중심으로 한 대외적인 역할 영역으로 구분하여 분석할 수 있었다. 분석 결과 기록관리 전문직의 역할영역에는 기록물을 중심으로 한 기본적인 직무 역할 이외의 지식관리, 디지털자산관리 등의 다각적인 기능 확장 및 기록관과 상호작용을 하는 다양한 기관 조직과 원활한 파트너십을 수행할 수 있는 경영능력도 필요함을 확인할 수 있다.

치과 종사자의 감염성 폐기물관리 실천에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors affecting practice of infectious wastes management of dental professionals)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between oral health professionals' knowledge, attitude, and practice with regard to infectious waste management and to identify related factors influencing it. Methods: The study comprised of 219 oral health professionals from select dental clinics and public health centers recruited between August 25, 2016 and September 5, 2016, who agreed to participate in the study with full understanding of the study objectives. A self-reported questionnaire was administered, which consisted of 22 items on knowledge of infectious waste management, 9 items on attitude, and 16 items on practice. Data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression analyses. Results: The age, knowledge, and clinical attitude of oral health professionals significantly correlated with waste management practice. Specifically, infectious waste management practice improved with increasing age, a greater level of knowledge, and a more positive clinical attitude. Additionally, the standardized regression coefficient demonstrated that, of these three factors, clinical attitude more strongly correlated with effective waste management practice, followed by age and level of knowledge. Conclusions: These results indicated that oral health professionals had a low level of knowledge regarding infectious waste management, and a more positive clinical attitude resulted in better practices. Therefore, the development of detailed and active education guidelines and strategies are needed to enhance the attitude, knowledge, and practice of oral health professionals with regard to infectious waste management.

정보보호인력의 직무이동과정에 대한 분석 (Analysis on a Turnover Process of Information Security Professionals)

  • 정보보호분야에 종사하고 있는 인력 중 10% 이상이 매년 직장을 옮기고 있고, 퇴사 인력 중 50% 이상이 정보보호 이외의 직무로 전환을 하고 있어 정보보호 전문인력의 유출이 상당한 규모이다[1]. 정보보호 분야에 신규로 우수한 인력을 채용하는 것 뿐만 아니라, 이미 정보보호 분야에 근무하고 있는 인력들에게 만족스럽게 업무를 수행할 수 있는 여건을 제공하여 정보보호인력들의 전문성을 높이고 정보보호 관련 업무의 완성도를 높이는 것이 중요한 과제이다. 본 연구에서는 정보보호인력의 직무 이동 과정을 마코프체인을 이용하여 모델링하고 향후 정보보호인력의 직무별 구성에 대하여 전망한다. 본 연구의 결과는 유망 분야 중점 육성의 효과를 예측하는 등 정보보호 인력양성 관련 세부적인 정책추진의 타당성을 확보하는데 참고가 될 수 있을 것이다.

국내 보건의료 전문가의 협력적 실무 경험 (Experience of the Collaborative Practice among Health Professionals in Korea)

  • Purpose : This study aimed to understand and describe the experiences of collaborative practice among health professionals in Korea. Methods : Data were collected through individual in-depth interviews conducted from January to March 2021 with 10 health professionals in Korea. All interviews were audiotaped and transcribed verbatim. The transcribed data then underwent qualitative content analysis. Results : Through content analysis, 10 categories and 3 themes were formed. Three themes, "working based on knowledge," "having difficulty in building collaborative relationships," and "playing complementary roles" emerged. Conclusion : The limitation is that the study participants are 10 health professionals in Korea working at healthcare institutions. However, this study is of great significance in that it provided basic data for preparing measures for collaborative practice among health professionals in Korea.

가족친화 전문인력 교육과정 개편을 위한 기초연구: 가족친화 전문인력을 대상으로 (A study on the reorganization of training programs for professionals in family-friendly workplaces)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 가족친화 컨설팅 컨설턴트, 인증심사원, 직장교육 전문강사 등 가족친화 전문인력의 활동 경험을 통해 전문인력의 필요 역량을 살펴보고, 전문인력 양성 교육과정 개선 방안을 마련하는 것이다. 이를 위해 10명의 전문인력을 대상으로 포커스그룹 인터뷰를 실시하였다. 본 연구 결과에 따르면, 세 영역에서 활동하는 가족친화 전문인력 모두 가족친화제도 및 가족친화사업 이해라는 공통 역량을 필요로 하지만, 활동 영역에 따른 필요 역량이 상이하므로 공통 교육과 함께 전문인력별로 차별화된 교육과정을 마련하는 것이 필요하다. 교육과정 개편 방향과 관련하여 전문인력별 교육과정 간 연계성 강화, 가족친화 전문인력 교육 시수 확대, 신규 양성교육과 보수교육 간의 차별화가 제안되었다. 이와 함께 교육 운영과 방법의 다양화, 시의성 있는 주제의 심화보수 교육의 필요성 등이 제안되었다. 이러한 결과는 가족친화 전문인력에게 요구되는 역량과 활동 중인 전문인력의 교육 요구에 따라 가족친화 전문인력 교육과정이 재구성될 필요가 있음을 시사한다.
