  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of whole-body vibration training on the flexibility and agility of professional soccer players. Methods: Sixteen professional soccer players participated voluntarily in the study. Subjects were allocated to two groups: the experimental group received whole-body vibration (WBV) and team training, and the control group received only team training. Team training was conducted in 15 sessions of 70 min duration over 3 weeks. WBV training was applied at 40 Hz frequency, 5 sets (1 min-training, 1 min-resting) in a squatting position. Outcomes from sit-and-reach, side-step test, burpee test, and T-test were measured before and after training. To examine pre- and post-intervention differences between the two groups, a paired t-test was used. Independent t-tests were performed to compare pre- and post-test scores and the time difference of the two groups. Results: Significant improvements in sit-and-reach and agility variables were observed in the experimental group (p < 0.05). In particular, flexibility (sit-and-reach) and agility (the side-step test and the burpee test) were significantly different between the two groups (p < 0.05). Conclusion: These findings suggest that whole-body vibration training has a positive effect on performance enhancement for professional soccer players.

Injury is not only cause in the unlucky soccer carrier and also team performance as well as financial effects can be worse since soccer is a team-based game. The duration of recovery from a soccer injury typically relies on its type and severity. Therefore, we conduct this research in order to predict the probability of players injury type using machine learning technologies in this paper. Furthermore, we compare different machine learning models to find the best fit model. This paper utilizes various supervised classification machine learning models, including Decision Tree, Random Forest, K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), and Naive Bayes. Moreover, based on our finding the KNN and Decision models achieved the highest accuracy rates at 70%, surpassing other models. The Random Forest model followed closely with an accuracy score of 62%. Among the evaluated models, the Naive Bayes model demonstrated the lowest accuracy at 56%. We gathered information about 54 professional soccer players who are playing in the top five European leagues based on their career history. We gathered information about 54 professional soccer players who are playing in the top five European leagues based on their career history.

  • Our study examines the relationship between coach turnover and professional sport team performance using the evidences of Korean professional soccer teams. We collected panel dataset of 304 team-year observations and 96 coaches from Korean professional soccer league during the period of 1983-2013. Among them, our final sample is comprised of 226 observations and 81 coaches manifested for fixed-effect generalized least square (GLS) regression analysis. Drawing on sport management literatures and organizational learning theory, we argue that it takes time for a new head coach to take charge of the team in which the new leader who secure more time to interact with organization members is better able to remodel and improve team performance. Our empirical findings reveal that off-season coach turnover has a positive impact while turnover during the season has its negative influences on team performance. In addition, we find that subsequent team performance in association of off-season coach turnover is comparably better than that of on-season succession. The results show that coach succession rendered from inside the professional soccer team mediates the relationship between coach turnover and team performance. Our findings imply that coach turnover in professional sport teams is a significant factor affecting team performance.
