임상간호사의 직무소진 극복과정 (The Process of Overcoming the Professional Burnout of Clinical Nurses)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the process of overcoming professional burnout among clinical nurses. Methods: Data were collected from 12 clinical nurses through in-depth interviews about their actual experiences. The main question was "How do you describe your experience of the process of overcoming professional burnout?" Qualitative data from the field notes and transcribed notes were analyzed using the grounded theory methodology developed by Strauss & Corbin. Results: The core category of experience of the process of professional burnout among clinical nurses was identified as "Keeping a balance by awakening-relaxing-coexisting". The participants used six interactional strategies such as 'Confronting problems', 'Exposing problems', 'Laying the mind's burdens down', 'Taking a breather', 'Seeing from a different perspective', 'Accepting realities'. The results of overcoming process of professional burnout were 'Coexisting' and 'Revitalizing'. Conclusion: The results of this study provide useful information for designing supportive programs and policies to solve professional burnout in clinical nurses.

간호학 교수들의 간호전문직에 대한 태도 조사연구 (Attitudes of Nursing Educators Toward Percussional Nursing)

  • This study of nurse educator's attitudes which found aspects of professional nursing was carried out from September 10 to 30, 1977. Subjects were 205 respondents from a total population of 314 nurse educators from the level of instructors to professors in all the diploma (post high school 3 year), professional junior college (3 year level) and university (4 year) nursing schools in Korea. Specific objectives were to determine their attitudes about the 1. social position of nursing as a profession, 2. nurses attitudes towards their word, 3. factors influencing the development of nursing, 4. the future of nursing, 5. nursing educational problems, 6. their own educational position's intrinsic job satisfaction and 7. their salary and benefits. The instrument used was a questionnaire developed from consultations with nursing educators and sociologists, and based on earlier. worts by Burke (1976), Mason (1974) and Hong 1969. Data were analysis by computer using one-way analysis. Statistically significant findings included the following; 1. Responses were positive toward all seven aspects of professional nursing. 2. Compared to diploma nursing school staff whose responses were positive, professional and university school faculty response toward the social position of nursing were neutral. 3. Faculty with clinical experience of 10 to 19 years were most positive in their responses about nurses' attitudes towards their work. In all three types of schools, in comparison to professors, associate professors' responses were more positive about nurses' attitudes toward their work. Faculty with longer clinical experience expressed high agreement with statements about factors which influence the development of nursing. Without any differences between school, all faculty had positive attitudes towards the future of nursing, the younger the staff member, the more positive were the responses. 4. faculty in diploma schools and those with 10 to 19 years clinical experience expressed high agreement with statement about nursing educational problems, 6. their own educational position's intrinsic job satisfaction and 7. their salary and benefits. UAE로 취업한 한인 의료직 종사자의 임상 경험 (Korean Migrant Health Professionals with Clinical Experience in UAE Hospitals)

  • This study was intented as an investigation of the meaning of clinical experience for gapproach was used to investigate clinical experience for Korean health professionals, A total of 10 health professional immigrants working in UAE hospitals were selected who has experience in Korea over 2 years and UAE for 1 year. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation and questionnaire. The findings were created with four essential themes; struggling to adapt at workplace at the beginning, feeling frustrated to communicate with different languages, professional reputations as a specialist, a variety of opportunities for self-development supported from hospitals and caring system of staff's health. The results indicate that the Korean health professionals were able to develop capabilities and competency with clinical experience in UAE hospitals. The results of this study suggest that lived experimental evidence for Korean migrants of health professionals. A further direction of this study, will be expected to provide more experimental information for health professional immigrants to middle east.

A Study on the Viewing Experience and Performance of Professional Baseball Team: The Team Performance Side and the Fan Performance Side

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the structural relationship among fan experience, fan satisfaction, team attachment, psychological well-being, team loyalty and quality of life. Specifically, the structural equation model is analyzed for the team performance side leading to fan experience-fan satisfaction-team attachment-team loyalty and the an performance side leading to fan experience-fan satisfaction-psychological well-being-quality of life. The survey to achieve the goal of this study is a professional baseball fan. 150 pilot envestigation and 348 main envestigation were selected as the final effective samples. Data processing was done with SPSS 23 for frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis and reliability analysis. Also, AMOS 21 was used for confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation model analysis. The results of the analysis are as follows: First, fan experience had a positive effect on the fan satisfaction. Second, fan satisfaction had a positive effect on the team attachment. Third, fan satisfaction had a positive effect on the psychological well-being. Fourth, team attachment had a positive effect on theteam loyalty. Fifth, psychological well-being had a positive effect on the quality of life.

응급구조사의 전문직 자아개념이 임파워먼트와 소진에 미치는 영향 (The influence of professional self-concept on empowerment and burnout of paramedics)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to examine the degree of paramedics' professional self-concept, empowerment, and burnout and to verify the effects of empowerment and burnout on their professional self-concept. Method: The study subjects were 116 in-hospital paramedics who completed a structured questionnaire. Data were collected between June 18 and 25, 2013. Results: The results were as follows. First, the paramedics' mean score for professional self-concept was 2.93 (range: 1-4), and the mean scores for empowerment and burnout were 2.87 (range: 1-4) and 2.48 (range: 1-5). Second, in terms of the general characteristics of the paramedics, professional self-concept showed significant differences based on sex, religion, work experience, and medical institution classification. Third, professional self-concept had a positive correlation with empowerment, and professional self-concept and empowerment had negative correlations with burnout. Fourth, the main variables affecting paramedics' professional self-concept were gender and total years of work experience. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop program to reduce paramedics' burnout and qualitatively improve paramedic services.

임상 간호사의 자율성과 전문직 자아개념 (A Correlational Study on Professional Autonomy and Self-Concept of Clinical Nurses)

  • Nurses experience role conflict between nursing theory that they learned in school and clinical nursing practice. This conflict lead to lower self-image, self-esteem, job dissatisfaction. Also, the professionalism of nurses is estimatable by the grade of autonomy. The professional autonomy requires individual and professional obligation about her decision and performance. A lack of professional autonomy results in the Job dissatisfaction. Job dissatisfaction leads to absenteeism, increased proneness to mental and physical illness and higher turnover rates. The purpose of this study was to investigate professional autonomy and self-concept of clinical nurses. Data were collected from 262 clinical nurses in P city from June 1 to June 30, 1996. The instruments used for this study were made by Arthur(1990) and Schutzenhofer(1983). The data were analyzed for frequency and percetage, mean, SD, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, stepwise mutiple regression, using SAS $PC^+$ Program. The findings were as it follows : 1. The mean of professional autonomy and self-concept were $152{\pm}18.48,\;70.65{\pm}8.20$(2.62), respectively. These showed mid level of professional autonomy and self-concept. 2. Professional autonomy of clinical nurses was found to vary significantly according to total years of clinical experience(F=4.49 p<0.01), position(F=3.49 p<0.05), and state under study for the degree(F=3.83 p<0.05). Professional self-concept was found to vary significantly according to age(F=3.52 p<0.05), marital status(F=7.39 p<0.001), total years of clinical experience(F=3.59 p<0.05), position(F= 5.22 p<0.01), the expectant period being on the duty as clinical nurse(F=8.34 p<0.001), and motivation of choosing nursing(F=5.17 p<0.001). 3. The statistical relationship between clinical nurses' professional autonomy and self-concept was found as positive correlation(r=0.42246 p<0.001). 4. Professional autonomy was the highest factor predicting professional self-concept(17.85%). Professional autonomy and marital status accounted for 20.60% in professional self-concept of clinical nurses. In conclusion, Professional autonomy and self-concept of clinical nurses showed significantly positive relationship. Therefore, nursing education needs to develop programs and policies to increase professional autonomy and self-concept of clinical nurses.

첫 임상실습이 간호학생이 지각하는 간호사의 이미지에 미치는 영향 (Changes in the Image of the Nurse for Student Nurses before and after their First Clinical Experience)

  • Purpose: This study was done to identify changes in the image of the nurse for student nurses before and after their first clinical experience. Method: The participants were 108 nursing students who had not had any clinical experience. All participants had their first clinical experience for 1 week. and the image of the nurse was measured before and after the clinical experience. Result : 1) Before the first clinical experience, the scores on the image of the nurse that was the highest for the student nurses was in the professional dimension, followed by traditional, personal, and social in that order. After the clinical experience, the score on the image of the nurse was still the highest in the professional dimension, but this time, it was followed by personal, traditional and social dimension in that order. 2) Difference in the image of the nurse before and after the clinical experience showed statistical significance. The factors influencing this change were the degree of satisfaction with their major, whether the students had ever been hospitalized, and the type of wards where they had their clinical experience. Conclusion: In summary, the first clinical experience should be ideal in order to promote the image of the nurse. Therefore an improvement in the environment for clinical experience is important.

연구 참여 경험을 통한 과학 교사의 전문성 발달 과정 탐색 (Exploring Professional Development of Science Teachers through the Research Experience for Teachers Program)

  • 본 연구는 첨단과학 교사연수센터에서 실시한 교사연구경험(Research Experience for Teachers, RET) 프로그램에 참여한 세 명의 과학 교사들을 대상으로 한 사례 연구이다. 교사들은 RET 프로그램이 진행되는 6개월 동안 과학자의 연구실에서 실험 수행 경험을 하였으며, 이 경험을 토대로 학교에서 적용할 수 있는 교수 자료를 개발하였다. 교수법적 내용 지식(Pedagogical Content Knowledge, PCK)을 교사가 전문성을 갖추기 위해 가져야 할 지식으로 규정하고, RET 프로그램을 경험한 후에 나타난 교사들의 전문성의 변화와 그들의 전문성 발달에 영향을 미치는 요인을 탐색하였다. 3명의 참여 교사들은 RET 프로그램에 참여함으로써 과학 교수 지향, 과학 지식, 학생 지식, 교수 지식, 그리고 자원 지식과 같은 PCK 요소들의 통합된 발달을 보였다. RET 프로그램을 통해서 발달한 PCK 요소들은 학교에서의 교수 실행에 반영되었으며, 시간이 지날수록 교사들이 자신의 PCK 발달을 더욱 명확히 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 참여 교사들이 RET 프로그램을 통해서 진정한 맥락인 과학자의 연구실에서 ‘합법적인 주변 참여’를 통해서 학습했기 때문에 실제 과학의 과정을 알 수 있었으며, 교수 자료를 개발하는 동안에 새롭게 발달한 PCK요소들과 교사가 이미 가지고 있던 PCK의 통합으로 그들의 PCK가 학교 현장의 실행으로 이어지도록 발달하였기 때문이다. 한편 참여 교사들에 따라서 전문성 발달 요소와 양상에 차이가 있었는데, 이는 RET프로그램에 참여할 때 교사들이 가진 목적이나 그들이 가지고 이미 가지고 있던 PCK의 차이에 기인한 것으로 파악되었다. 본 연구는 연구 경험 제공을 통한과학 교사들의 전문성 발달 프로그램 개발에 의미 있는 시사점을 제공할 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

투석실 간호사의 전문직 자아개념, 자기효능감과 직무만족도 (A Study on the Professional Self-concept, Self Efficacy and Job Satisfaction of Hemodialysis Unit Nurses)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the level of professional self-concept, self-efficacy and job satisfaction among nurses who work at hemodialysis units. Methods: With convenience sampling, 128 nurses working at hemodialysis settings in Chungcheong Province were participated in this study. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 14.0 with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: The mean scores were 2.68 for professional self-concept, 3.65 for self efficacy and 3.14 for job satisfaction. There were significant differences in professional self-concept according to age, religion, position and clinical experience. There was statistically significant difference in self-efficacy according to age. Also, there was statistically significant difference in job satisfaction according to age, marital status, hospital type, position, clinical experience, and the number of patients per nurse. Job satisfaction was positively correlated with professional self-concept and self-efficacy. Conclusion: These findings provided that interventions to enhance professional self-concept as well as the strategies to improve self-efficacy are very important.

응급실 간호사의 중증도분류 전문역량에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Influencing Professional Competencies in Triage Nurses Working in Emergency Departments)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the professional competency of nurses working in emergency medical institutions that use the Korean Triage Acuity Scale (KTAS), and to identify factors that affect them. Methods: This study collected data from 105 nurses working in emergency medical institutions from June to August 2020. For data analysis, descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression were performed using the SPSS 25.0 program. Results: As for the professional competency in triage, the higher the self-efficacy (β= 0.58, p< .001), the more experience they have in triage-related education (β= 0.30, p< .001), 2-4 years of clinical experience in emergency department (β= 0.19, p= .002), in case of triage alone (β= 0.24, p< .001), the higher the level of education a nurse has (β= 0.19, p= .003), the higher the professional competency in triage. These variables explained professional competency in a total of 64.2% of the participants (F = 38.30, p< .001). Conclusion: To improve nurses' professional competence in triage, introducing manpower expansion, financial support, and the provision of appropriate places is suggested. In addition, it is necessary to repeatedly provide educational opportunities in an environment similar to actual clinical practice by developing various scenarios and introducing simulations and web-based formats.
