동대문 패션클러스터를 기반으로 한 데님 브랜드 개발 (Denim Brand Development Based on Dongdaemun Fashion Cluster)

  • This study participated in educational programs for young designers and received trainings in sewing technology through government and local government-supported projects led by a from a skilled craftsman. These initiatives aim to revitalize the Dongdaemun fashion cluster, which is currently experiencing stagnation. Our goal is to develop denim brands that reflect the unique regional characteristics stemming from the skilled sewing techniques and denim processes of the Changsin·Sungin regions, the production hubs supporting Dongdaemun, to discover solutions for revitalizing the local industry. For the research method, we collected data by actively participating in support projects related to the Dongdaemun fashion cluster. Additionally, we gathered data by conducting a theoretical review of the sewing industry in the Changsin·Sungin regions and the Dongdaemun fashion cluster. The research results include developing a denim brand collection-eight denim products-based on Changsin-dong's unique denim sewing technology and various denim washing processes acquired through the support project and regional characteristics. Overall, this study is meaningful in presenting a sustainable plan to revitalize the domestic sewing and manufacturing industry, focusing on the Dongdaemun fashion cluster. We achieved this by developing a denim brand that leverages the sewing and washing process technology and the unique regional characteristics of Changsin-dong.

  • Mastitis is one of the most widespread infectious diseases that adversely affects the profitability of the dairy industry worldwide. Accurate diagnosis and identification of pathogens early to cull infected animals and minimize the spread of infection in herds is critical for improving treatment effects and dairy farm welfare. The major pathogens causing mastitis and pathogenesis are assessed first. The most recent and advanced strategies for detecting mastitis, including genomics and proteomics approaches, are then evaluated. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of each technique, potential research directions, and future perspectives are reported. This review provides a theoretical basis to help veterinarians select the most sensitive, specific, and cost-effective approach for detecting bovine mastitis early.

YOLOv3을 이용한 과일표피 불량검출 모델: 복숭아 사례 (Detection Model of Fruit Epidermal Defects Using YOLOv3: A Case of Peach)

  • 농가를 운영함에 있어서 수확한 작물에 대한 품질을 평가하여 불량품을 분류하는 작업은 매우 중요하다. 그러나, 농가는 부족한 자본과 인력으로 인하여 품질평가에 소요되는 비용과 시간을 감당하는데 어려움이 있다. 이에 본 연구는 인공지능 기술인 딥 러닝 알고리즘을 이용하여 과일의 표피를 분석함으로써 불량을 검출하고자 한다. 과일을 촬영한 동영상 이미지에 대하여 영역기반 합성곱 신경망(Region Convolutional Neural Network)을 기반으로 한 YOLOv3 알고리즘을 적용하여 표피를 분석할 수 있는 모델을 개발하였다. 총 4개의 클래스를 정해서 학습을 진행하였고, 총 97,600번의 epoch을 통해서 우수한 성능의 불량검출 모델을 얻을 수 있었다. 본 연구에서 제안한 농작물 불량검출 모델은 데이터 수집, 분석된 데이터를 통한 품질평가, 그리고 불량검출에 이르는 과정의 자동화에 활용될 수 있다. 특히, 농작물들 중에서도 외상에 가장 취약한 복숭아를 대상으로 분석모델을 개발하였기 때문에, 다른 작물에도 적용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • 많은 연구자들이 정보기술 투자의 성과 측정에 관심을 가졌기에 다양한 자료원과 분석 방법으로 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔고, 대부분의 연구들은 정보기술 투자가 성과를 창출한다고 보고하고 있다. 이러한 연구들은 기업 수준에서 많이 수행되었는데, 산업 수준에서는 다른 결과가 발생할 수 있다. 전자산업의 경우, 정보기술의 성능이 증가하면 전자산업에서 생산되는 정보기술의 판매가 감소되어 전자산업의 부가가치는 감소할 수 있다. 분석결과, 미국의 전자산업에서 산업의 정보기술 자본의 증가는 산업의 부가가치를 증가시키지 못하였으나, 산업의 근로자 1인당 정보기술 자본의 증가는 산업의 근로자 1인당 부가가치(노동 생산성) 증가에 긍정적인 영향을 주었다. 또한, 미국 전자산업에서 정보기술 자본의 증가는 근로자 수를 감소시키는 결과를 보이고 있다.

뉴노멀 시대의 컨셔스 패션에 나타난 제로웨이스트 패션디자인 연구 (A Study on the Zero Waste Fashion Design in Conscious Fashion Perspective from the New Normal Era)

  • The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about environmental severity and new social, economic, and cultural changes. Conscious fashion, which is oriented to sustainable and valuable consumption, has become a trend to consume products produced using eco-friendly and ethical processes, from the selection of the product materials to the manufacturing process. The purpose of this study is to identify the concepts and characteristics of conscious fashion and zero waste, and to explore design trends of zero wastein the new normal era of conscious fashion through the analysis of various cases. The research method is a literature review on conscious fashion based on relevant professional and academic books and articles, designer collections, and campaigns from 2010 to the present, when conscious fashion as eco-friendliness and sustainable fashion became a trend. The concept and characteristics of conscious fashion were examined them in terms of environmental, ethical, social, and cultural aspects and the concept and characteristics of zero waste through previous studies and case analysis. Through this, the trends of zero-waste design in conscious fashion were categorized into: first, an eco-friendly design orientation that utilizes reuse and reduce methods of clothing and fabric; second, a variable design orientation that practices zero waste designs by using diversity of patterns through deconstruction, disassembly, and various cutting methods. Third, long-term circulation of design through the recycling of resources by second-hand trade, the utilization of stock clothing, resale, and availability of eco-friendly materials through the development of new technologies. As an active practice for the sustainable fashion industry expands, it is expected that continuous research will be conducted as a future core value to realize the possibility of long-term circular zero-waste design through social responsibility and conscious recycling, reuse, and reproduction.

Atypical formations of gintonin lysophosphatidic acids as new materials and their beneficial effects on degenerative diseases

  • Fresh ginseng is prone to spoilage due to its high moisture content. For long-term storage, most fresh ginsengs are dried to white ginseng (WG) or steamed for hours at high temperature/pressure and dried to form Korean Red ginseng (KRG). They are further processed for ginseng products when subjected to hot water extraction/concentration under pressure. These WG or KRG preparation processes affect ginsenoside compositions and also other ginseng components, probably during treatments like steaming and drying, to form diverse bioactive phospholipids. It is known that ginseng contains high amounts of gintonin lysophosphatidic acids (LPAs). LPAs are simple lipid-derived growth factors in animals and humans and act as exogenous ligands of six GTP-binding-protein coupled LPA receptor subtypes. LPAs play diverse roles ranging from brain development to hair growth in animals and humans. LPA-mediated signaling pathways involve various GTP-binding proteins to regulate downstream pathways like [Ca2+]i transient induction. Recent studies have shown that gintonin exhibits anti-Alzheimer's disease and antiarthritis effects in vitro and in vivo mediated by gintonin LPAs, the active ingredients of gintonin, a ginseng-derived neurotrophin. However, little is known about how gintonin LPAs are formed in high amounts in ginseng compared to other herbs. This review introduces atypical or non-enzymatic pathways under the conversion of ginseng phospholipids into gintonin LPAs during steaming and extraction/concentration processes, which exert beneficial effects against degenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease and arthritis in animals and humans via LPA receptors.

Current Research, Industrialization Status, and Future Perspective of Cultured Meat

  • Expectations for the industrialization of cultured meat are growing due to the increasing support from various sectors, such as the food industry, animal welfare organizations, and consumers, particularly vegetarians, but the progress of industrialization is slower than initially reported. This review analyzes the main issues concerning the industrialization of cultured meat, examines research and media reports on the development of cultured meat to date, and presents the current technology, industrialization level, and prospects for cultured meat. Currently, over 30 countries have companies industrializing cultured meat, and around 200 companies that are developing or industrializing cultured meat have been surveyed globally. By country, the United States has over 50 companies, accounting for more than 20% of the total. Acquiring animal cells, developing cell lines, improving cell proliferation, improving the efficiency of cell differentiation and muscle production, or developing cell culture media, including serum-free media, are the major research themes related to the development of cultured meat. In contrast, the development of devices, such as bioreactors, which are crucial in enabling large-scale production, is relatively understudied, and few of the many companies invested in the development of cultured meat have presented products for sale other than prototypes. In addition, because most information on key technologies is not publicly available, it is not possible to determine the level of technology in the companies, and it is surmised that the technology of cultured meat-related startups is not high. Therefore, further research and development are needed to promote the full-scale industrialization of cultured meat.

SDGs 지속가능한 디자인 교과목 운영 사례연구 - 패션디자인을 중심으로 (A Case Study of Sustainable Design Curriculum for the implement SDGs focus on fashion design major)

  • 본 연구에서는 패션디자인학과에서 다양한 디자인 전공 학생들의 융합 교육에 따른 SDGs 지속가능한 디자인 교과목 운영 사례를 연구하였다. 문헌 연구를 통해 교과목 운영의 필요성을 살펴보고, 수업설계, 실행, 운영 결과로 교과목을 분석하였다. 지속가능한 디자인 교과목은 2~4학년 학생의 통합 구성으로 패션디자인 및 다양한 디자인 전공 학생이 수강하여 SDGs 과제에 따른 전공 심화와 주제 중심 통합교육에 따른 융합 역량을 강화하였다. 수업에서의 교육내용은 문제 발견과 해결을 통한 디자이너의 지속가능한 가치 추구를 위해 지역업체에서 개발된 폐페트병 섬유의 업싸이클 디자인을 통한 지속가능 발전 목표를 실현하고 다양한 업싸이클 상품 디자인을 개발하고 평가 지표 및 만족도를 평가하였다. 이를 통해 SDGs의 실현 가치를 이해하고 지역문제 해결을 위한 디자인적 접근을 통한 지속가능한 발전 기여와 다양한 디자인 전공과의 융합교육의 중요성을 인식하였다.

The complement system: a potential target for the comorbidity of chronic pain and depression

  • The mechanisms of the chronic pain and depression comorbidity have gained significant attention in recent years. The complement system, widely involved in central nervous system diseases and mediating non-specific immune mechanisms in the body, remains incompletely understood in its involvement in the comorbidity mechanisms of chronic pain and depression. This review aims to consolidate the findings from recent studies on the complement system in chronic pain and depression, proposing that it may serve as a promising shared therapeutic target for both conditions. Complement proteins C1q, C3, C5, as well as their cleavage products C3a and C5a, along with the associated receptors C3aR, CR3, and C5aR, are believed to have significant implications in the comorbid mechanism. The primary potential mechanisms encompass the involvement of the complement cascade C1q/C3-CR3 in the activation of microglia and synaptic pruning in the amygdala and hippocampus, the role of complement cascade C3/C3a-C3aR in the interaction between astrocytes and microglia, leading to synaptic pruning, and the C3a-C3aR axis and C5a-C5aR axis to trigger inflammation within the central nervous system. We focus on studies on the role of the complement system in the comorbid mechanisms of chronic pain and depression.

외인성 화학물질의 대사에 관여하는 Cytochrome P450 (CYP) 효소의 발현조절 기전 (Mechanisms Regulating the Expression of Cytochrome P450 (CYP) Enzymes Involved in Xenobiotic Metabolism)

  • CYP 효소는 내인성 및 외인성 화학물질의 대사에 핵심적인 역할을 담당한다. 특히, 약물, 자연생성물 및 환경 독성 화학물질 등은 조직에 따라 특이적 CYP 효소 유전자의 발현을 조절하며, 이는 체내 유입된 약물과 독성물질 등과 같은 화학물질들 사이의 상호작용을 유발하여 이들의 대사에 영향을 줌으로써, 결국 치료 효과와 독성 효과에 변화를 초래한다. 이 분야에 대한 지난 수십 년 동안의 집중적인 연구는, 이러한 CYP 효소 유전자의 발현조절을 매개하는 분자적 기전을 이해하는 데 상당한 진전을 가져왔다. 이제는 구체적인 CYP 효소 유전자의 발현 유도를 조절하는 화합물들뿐만 아니라, 이를 감지하여 특정 CYP 유전자의 발현 조절을 매개하는 데 관여하는 수용체들과 이들의 신호전달 경로들이 비교적 상세히 밝혀졌다. 본 총설에서는, 다양한 화학물질의 노출에 반응하여 CYP 효소 유전자들의 발현 유도를 매개하는 것으로 알려진 주요 외인성 물질-감지 수용체들과 기타 조절인자들의 분자적 작용기전을 요약한다.
