  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate changes of body composition, cardio-respiratory function in ventilation threshold (VT) and maximal state exercise, systolic (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) and serum nitric oxide (NO) production during acute reducing salt (RS) supplementation in college elite athletes. Variables of cardio-respiratory function during rest, ventilation threshold and maximal exercise was not shown a significantly difference between RS supplementation and non-supplementation, there was shown a significant increase in ventilation threshold time (p<0.05) and exhaustion time (p<0.05) during RS supplement compared to non-supplement. SBP and DBP were not shown a significant difference between RS supplement and non-supplement. This result suggests that acute intake of RS is not increased a blood pressure. Serum NO production was not significant difference in the RS supplement group, but it was shown a significantly increased levels (p<0.01, vs. recovery 30 min.) immediately after maximal exercise in the non-supplement group. This result suggests that acute intake of RS have important role in inhibition of serum NO production during maximal exercise. Conclusively, This study suggest that acute intake of RS was not influence in body composition variables, but it was positive effect in ventilation threshold time, exhaustion time, maintenance of blood pressure and inhibition of serum NO production in maximal treadmill exercise.

  • The display market has been replaced by the FPD (Flat Panel Display) from the CRT (Cathode-Ray Tube) since the late 1990s. In the FPD production line, the most equipment has high price. Thus, when the equipment has multi-function, the repetitive process is arranged for the equipment. However, such disposition of equipment results in more complicated process flow owing to repetitive operations. This reduces the production capacity and increases lead-time in turn. In this paper, we develop an AutoMod simulation system that derives to information about the quantity, production lead-time, utilities of facilities, and occupation rates of racks. In this simulation system, we consider the situation where the equipment might be broken and suspended randomly. For the developed system, we first evaluate a production plan with current layout and then, propose a revised alternative plan. Using the same simulation scheme, we investigate comparing the production quantity and lead-time with the two plans. In addition, for a proposed alternative, we try to forecast the most adequate rule between the two job dispatching rules which are FOR (Fewest Operation Remaining) and FCFS (First Come First Serve) through simulation.

  • This work aimed to evaluate the influence of culture conditions on laccase production in the co-culture of wood-rotting fungus with Trichoderma sp. The effects of infection extent, infection time, and culture filtrate of Trichoderma sp. on the laccase production by wood-rotting fungus in co-culture were examined. T. rubrum LKY-7 and T. longibrachiatum were selected as fungi which are effective in co-culture for laccase production. A significant increase in laccase activity was observed when T. rubrum LKY-7 was co-cultured with T. longibrachiatum in glucose-peptone liquid medium, yielding an increase of more than 5 times in laccase activity, as compared with control. Laccase production by T. rubrum LKY-7 during co-culturing was significantly influenced by the infection extent and the infection time of T. longibrachiatum. Maximal laccase activity was obtained when T. rubrum LKY-7 culture was infected by T. longibrachiatum after 3 days of cultivation at an inoculum size ratio of 0.5 to 1. The addition of culture filtrate or autoclaved mycelium of T. longibrachiatum to T. rubrum LKY-7 culture did not significantly enhance laccase production by T. rubrum LKY-7 as compared with control (mono cultures of T. rubrum LKY-7).

  • The shipbuilding industry is characterized by order production, and various processes are performed simultaneously in the construction of ships. Therefore, effective management of the production process and productivity improvement form important key factors in the industry. For decades, researchers and process managers have attempted to improve processes by using business process analysis (BPA). However, conventional BPA is time-consuming, expensive, and mainly based on subjective results generated by employees, which may not always correspond to the actual conditions. This paper proposes a method to improve the production process of offshore plant modules by analysing the process mining data obtained from the shipbuilding industry. Process mining uses information accumulated from the system-provided event logs to generate a process model and determine the values hidden within the process. The discovered process is visualized as a process model. Subsequently, alternatives are proposed by brainstorming problems (such as bottlenecks or idle time) in the process. The results of this study can aid in productivity improvement (idle time or bottleneck reduction in the production process) in conjunction with a six-sigma technique or ERP system. In future, it is necessary to study the standardization of the module production processes and development of the process monitoring system.

  • Recent climate change has led to fluctuations in agricultural production, and as a result national food supply has become an important strategic factor in economic policy. As such, in this study, panel data was collected to analyze the effects of seven meteorological elements on the production of five types of grain with error component panel data regression method following the test results of LM tests, Hausman test. The key factors affecting the production of rice were average temperature, average relative humidity and average ground surface temperature. The fluctuations in the other four grains types are not well explained by meterological elements. For other grains and beans, only average temperature and time (year) affect the production of other grains while average temperature, ground surface temperature, and time (year) influence the production of beans. For barley and millet, only average temperature positively affects the production of barley while ground surface temperature and time (year) negatively influence the production of millet. The implications of this study are as follow. First, it was confirmed that the meteorological elements have profound effects on the rice production. Second, when compared to existing studies, this study was not limited to rice but encompassed all five types of grains and went beyond other studies that were limited to temperature and rainfall to include various meteorological elements.

  • This paper presents an Economic Lot Scheduling Problem in which controllable production rates are considered. We also take into account the controllable range of production rate (i.e., maximum and minimum production rate) of each product and the mold cost which varies to the production rate. A mathematical model is developed and an iterative solution procedure is suggested. The objective of this problem is to minimize production related cost and the decision variables are common production cycle time and production rate of each product. As a case study, we adapted this model to the press machine of a company.

  • The ever-glowing demands for more responsiveness and more flexibility in manufacturing generate greater expectation for the AGV system. So far. a significant amount of research has been carried out to fulfill those requirements. However, the dynamic characteristics of manufacturing systems make it hard to solve the problem analytically. In this paper, the AGV system is analyzed in the production environments which adopt a cycle time to produce materials. The use of the cycle time could eliminate much of uncertainty Inherent In the manufacturing process so that it is possible to build the deterministic model for the AGV systems, which eventually Produce better results on the important issues such as AGV dispatching, determination of the number of AGVs, and empty vehicle travel time.

  • Lean production system can be defined as customer(product)-oriented production system with small lot size and flow-shop layout based on the JIT(Just-in-time) principles. In this paper, we introduce a case example of implementation of the Lean product ion system for manufacturing line of electronic component which has both machine processes and manual jobs. We also investigate the issues of implementing the Lean production system with the viewpoints of layout design scheme and JIT management rules. In the layout design, we propose the cell-line which has flow-shop layout with small lot size. In the management rules, the superior cell rule is applied in order to boost the needs of kaisen up. As the results of implementing the Lean production system, production lead time is decreased from 5 days to 1.5 days and also productivity and quality level arc surprisingly increased.

  • It was studied in order to improve the yield of serrapeptase production in fermentation that organic nitrogen sources play important roles not only as inducer, repressor and activator, but also nitrogen sources. From the investigation of the effect of Na-caseinate on the induction of serrapeptase production, it was elucidated that real inducer was leucine and strong repressor was cysteine, which were produced through hydrolysis of proteins. Serrapeptase production was strongly induced by Na-caseinate in culture time 12 hrs, but was weakly induced before and after that time. Therefore fed batch culture where partial amount of Na-caseinate is added in 12 hrs, is better than batch culture where total amount of Na-caseinate is added at the beginning. Cysteine, methionine, MgSO$_{4}$, and so on, sulfur-containing materials, repressed the serrapeptase production. In the addition of mineral salts, chlorinated salts is better than sulfated salts because of sulfur repression. The synergic effect of soybean meal with Na-caseinate on the serrapeptase production resulted from Mn$^{2+}$ contained in soybean meal, of which the optimal concentration is 4 mM in enzyme production.
