Robust Control Design for Flexible Joint Manipulators: Theory and Experimental Verification

  • A class of robust control for flexible joint manipulators with nonlinearity mismatched uncertainty is designed based on Lyapunov approach. The uncertainties are unknown but their values are within certain prescribed sets. No statistic information of the uncertainties is imposed. The control which utilizes state transformation via virtual control is proposed. The resulting robust control guarantees practical stability for the transformed system and later the stability for the original system is proved. The designed robust control is implemented by experiments in a 2-link flexible joint manipulator.

  • Flatness of strip at aluminum cold rolling is one of the important quality parameters of rolled products. The reasons for this are perhaps obvious: for many of the end uses, subsequent processing requires a flat product poor flatness on-line can lead to reduced running speeds and hence to lower production levels.   • In Korea, researches for year-round leaf vegetables production system are in progress and the most of them are focused on environment control. Automation technologies for harvesting , transporting and grading need to be developed. This study was conducted to develop harvesting process automation system profitable to a competitive price. 1. Manipulator and end-effector are to be designed and fabricated , and fuzzy logic controller for controlling these are to be composed. 2. The entire system constructed is to be evaluated through a performance test. A robot system for harvesting a lettuce was developed. It was composed of a manipulator with 20DOF (degrees of freedom) an end-effector, a lettuce feeding conveyor , an air blower , a machine vision device, 6 photoelectric sensors and a fuzzy logic controller. A fuzzy logic control was applied to determined appropriate grip force on lettuce. Leaf area index and height index were used as input parameters, and voltage was used as output parameter for the fuzzy logic controller . Success rate of the lettuce harvesting system was 93.06% , and average harvesting time was about 5 seconds per lettuce.

  • The present development relates to an apparatus for loading or unloading a workpiece, and more particularly, to an apparatus for loading or unloading a workpiece from a press die or supplier An apparatus for loading or unloading a workpiece has been installed in a press in order to load or unload a workpiece from a press die. There has been known such a loading or unloading apparatus as the apparatus can feed a workpiece in not only the horizontal direction but also in the vortical direction. Press working system in automotive factories are now switching over to a transfer press work ing system. The current problem to be sieved immediately is to automate the existing manual press lines for the manpower saving and speedy production. “Automation system for press line”has just been developed to meet the above trend. The loader and unloader are development under the design concept for high performance, easy control and operational safety to meet the more extensive.

  • In this study, by using the natural language processing of the field of artificial intelligence, automated index was performed. And then, the Natural Language Processing Interface for knowledge representation(NALPI) has been developed. Furthermore, the DEsign KnOwledge DataBase(DEKODB) has been also developed, which is designed to interlock the knowledge base. The DEKODB processes both the documented design-data, like a concrete standard specification, and the design knowledge from an expert. The DEKODB is also simulates the design space of structures accordance with the production rule, and thus it is determined that DEKODB can be used as a engine to retrieve new knowledge and to implement knowledge base that is necessary to the development of automatic design system. The application field of the system, which has been developed in this study, can be expanded by supplement of the design knowledge at DEKODB and developing dictionaries for foreign languages. Furthermore, the perfect automation at the data accumulation and development of the automatic rule generator should benefit the unified design automation.

  • Even the domestically small-and medium-sized companies progressed development in the monitoring equipment of inspecting run out in steel wheel aiming to supply and generalize through developing the monitoring equipment for securing quality technology and enhancing quality-test level. Run-Out value in vehicle wheel was measured with Computer & Servo system by using Low-Point marking machine control system, which is this development product. Low-Point value was operated and calculated. It marked by revolving wheel as much as the demanded measurement value based on 1ST harmony curve. Thus, the shipment of inferior product, which occurs in the measurement by the existing worker, could be blocked in advance. In the existing case, 60 sec. was required for inspecting 1 product. However, it came to bring about a rise in production volume through shortening inspection time to 8 seconds and improving workers' operating environment.

Now the automation of the production facility and won a certain degree, and through the process of integrating the entire process, including planning, design, distribution of information and communication technology products in emerging as a core competitiveness of the national economy. In particular, the company accelerated the smart factory building in order to improve the manufacturing industry, cost savings and productivity simply to incorporate internet of things(IoT),Robot, artificial intelligence, big data technology as a factory automation level of sophistication of the system and out to progress to the level that replaces human labor have. In this we should look at the trend of promoting domestic and foreign factories want to present these smart strategies for Korea.

  • Presented in this paper is a newly developed motion planning method of an autonomous mobile robot(MAR) which can be applied to flexible manufacturing systems(FMS). The mobile robot is designed for transporting tools and workpieces between a set-up station and machines according to production schedules of the whole FMS. The proposed method is implemented based on an earlier developed real-time obstacle avoidance method which employs Kohonen network for pattern classification of sonar readings and fuzzy logic for local path planning. Particulary, a novel obstacle avoidance method for moving objects using a collision index, collision possibility measure, is described. Our method has been tested on the SNU mobile robot. The experimental results show that the robot successfully navigates to its target while avoiding moving objects.

  • Laser additive direct deposition of metals is a new rapid manufacturing technology, which combines with computer aided design, laser cladding and rapid prototyping. The advanced technology can build fully-dense metal components directly from CAD files with neither mould nor tool. Based on the theory of this technology, a promising rapid manufacturing system called "Laser Metal Deposition Shaping (LMDS)" is being developed significantly. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the LMDS-formed samples are tested and analyzed synthetically. As a result, significant processing flexibility with the LMDS system over conventional processing capabilities is recognized, with potentially lower production cost, higher quality components, and shorter lead time.

  • Investment in FA facilities has been accerelated since 1986, turning point by labor strife in Korea firms. Most commonly adopted automation tech, in their manufacturing process consists of NC. Robotics, PLC, CAD/CAM now on and further confused system oriented FMS, CIM, etcs. undergoing. But for all their remarkable notices in manufacturing systems, The competitive position on product cost, quality, shorten delivery and profit has never been recovered in global swing market. To make some empirical suggestions with a view to competitive strategy of Korea firms by FA, to the conclusion largely FA tech. adoption can be justified only when its application on new product productions and improved the structure of products comparatively. Because of when it was applied in old production process. The effectiveness is very doubtful to the lacks of consistent and integrate manufacturing policy with the strategy of the fim and their poor standardization level in shop floors.
