  • In this work, the hydrogen production costs of the nuclear energy sources are estimated in the necessary input data on a Korean specific basis. G4-ECONS was appropriately modified to calculate the cost for hydrogen production of HTE process with Very High Temperature nuclear Reactor (VHTR) as a thermal energy source rather than the LUEC (Levelized Unit Electricity Cost). The general ground rules and assumptions follow G4-ECONS. Through a preliminary study of cost estimates, we wished to evaluate the economic potential for hydrogen produced from nuclear energy, and, in addition, to promptly estimate the hydrogen production costs for an updated input data for capital costs. The estimated costs presented in this paper show that hydrogen production by the VHTR could be competitive with current techniques of hydrogen production from fossil fuels if $CO_2$ capture and sequestration is required. Nuclear production of hydrogen would allow large-scale production of hydrogen at economic prices while avoiding the release of $CO_2$. Nuclear production of hydrogen could thus become the enabling technology for the hydrogen economy. The major factors that would affect the cost of hydrogen were also discussed.

  • The major factors affecting productivity on daily farms in Queensland, Australia, were determined using the stepwise linear regression approach. The data were obtained from a survey conducted on the total population of daily farms in Queensland in 1987. These data were divided into six major dailying regions. The technique was applied using 12 independent variables believed by a panel of experienced research and extension personnel to exert the most influence on milk production. The regression equations were all significant (p < 0.001) with the percentage coefficients of determination ranging from 62 to 76% for equations developed using' total farm milk: production as the dependent variable. Three of the variables affecting total farm milk: production were found to be common to all six regions. These were; the amount of supplementary energy fed, the area set aside to irrigate winter feed and the size of the area used for dailying. Higher production farms appeared to be more efficient in that they consistently produced milk production levels higher than those estimated from the regression equation for their region. Other methods of analysis including robust regression and non linear regression techniques were unsuccessful in overcoming this problem and allowing development of a model appropriate for farms at all levels of production.

  • Genetics has played a pivotal role in increasing the world food production through revolutions in plant and animal sciences. Though the attention on fisheries has been inadequate but the growing importance of modern genetic manipulations and biotechnological innovations to aquaculture has been realized. Recent advances in fish genetics and molecular biology have provided a suite of useful techniques, which have several applications in aquaculture. This paper reviews the advancement in the applications of selection, hybridization, chromosome engineering, sex control, gene transfer and molecular technologies for enhanced aquaculture productivity.

  • The importance of plant factory which blend agriculture and manufacture has been discussed widely. This company has researched hydroponics technique for cultivation which has been mainly developed in the sites of Okinawa and Hyougo Prefecture. In 1987, we stopped the previous research there, and started a new one far plant factory at the Agricultural Research Center of Chiba Prefecture. In 1989, we built four experimental plant factories (120㎡) at Chiba Oil Factory Refinery in Ichihara-city, developing techniques of cultivation, equipment production and environmental control for cultivation system of tomato, strawberry and leaf vegetables. • In this review the methods for production and processing of isolated or agglomerated nanoscale metal particles embedded in organic liquids (nanosuspensions) and polymer matrix composites are elucidated. Emphasis is laid on the techniques of inert gas condensation (IGC) and high pressure sputtering for obtaining highly porous metal powders ("nanopowder") as well as on vacuum evaporation on running liquids for obtaining nanosuspensions. Functional properties and post-processing are outlined in view of applications in the fields of electrically conductive adhesives and anti-microbially active materials for medical articles and consumer goods.mer goods.

  • Penicillin amidase (EC 3.5.1.11) was produced by a mutant strain of Bacillius megaterium ATCC 14945. Hydroxylamine assay method for the determination of 6-APT was modified by using "HCl addition techniques" in order to simplify the time consuming orginal assay method without sacrifice of accuracy. Using the new mutant strain, the effects of fermentation conditions on enzyme production were studied.e studied.

  • Protection agriculture is the essential choice for human to increase the efficiency of limited crop production area under harsh and changeable weather boundary conditions, extend growing season, maximize the crop yields, and then increase the sustainable income of the grower. The investment costs far greenhouses as well as labor and energy costs are much higher than for conventional plant production systems, so these can only be balanced by better crop yields, higher labor productivity, and higher energy efficiency. • Korean industries have been tend to depending upon historical information to control risk. The other hand, foreign industries have been identify risk factors using system safety techniques to predict future risk. One agency or person could not solve the problems of total safety system for improving productivity. In order to solve those problems, the production-safety group is necessary, and safety control system must be adapted by fitting to the production flow. This paper is present the methodology of driving occupational safety programs to increase productivity.

  • In order to increase productivity, modern business which use the techniques of mass production should progress gradually from to use of human labor to total mechanization in the various steps of the production process. This will not only avoid the prospect of future labor shortages, but will also solve nancy of the problems involved in increasing productivity In this paper, we have approached the problem of determining the number of machine units that can be economically assigned to one operator by using Palm's model.
