This paper computes the economic impact of handset subsidies using the recent Input-Output Tables and compares the results with other alternatives which telecommunications companies can choose. The first scenario is that telecommunications companies give handset subsidies to consumers and sales agents. The second is that the companies do not give the subsidies to them, but instead spend the same amount of subsidy on facility investment. The third is that the companies lower the prices of their mobile communications services and consumers spend the saved expenses on other goods and services. The result is that the production, value added, import, job, employment inducement coefficients of the first scenario is larger than those of the second and third scenarios. The reason is as follows. The handset subsidy results in the incentive to consumers for handset purchase or the incentive for sales agents to sell the telecommunication services of the companies. The former has larger production and import inducement effect, and the latter also has larger value-added, job, and employment inducement effect than those of other scenarios.
The government is working out the development of a venture enterprise through a venture certification system. The broad effects of its policies are anticipated by the government and revealed in the 'The Survey on Actual Condition of Venture Enterprises 2010'. These benefits include the revitalization of start-up, promotion of technological innovation, progress in marketing ability, improvement in corporate image, financing and investment, and benefit from tax reduction & exemption. However, with the estimation of production function and sales function, which both uses capital and labor as a basic elements, it was found that only 'financing and ease of investment' produces a statistically significant effect on production and sales. An addition, this study looks into whether venture-supporting system are helpful to the eradication of technical inefficiency. The policies brought about positive changes in reduction of technical inefficiencies except with regard to the ease of start-up where it was found that an increase in inefficiencies was the result.

The present study classified the auto-parts makers into four groups according to their investment ownership. Four groups consist the one fully owned by Koreans, the one fully owned by foreigners, the one owned less than 100% but more than 50% by foreigners, lastly the one owned by less than or equal to 50% by foreigners. Among these, the auto-parts makers, 100% foreign ownership, have the highest Malmquist productivity index while 100% Korean-owned part-makers has the lowest productivity. In case of the 100% foreign ownership companies, the cause of Malmquist change, however, is attributed to the technical efficiency change. In particular, the pure technical change is the main source of the Malmquist change. This may indicate that the 100% foreign-owned companies have successfully transferred their production process technologies to the Korean plants. They are enjoying so called the "imitation-effect." 100% Korean-owned companies were not able to create the "imitationeffect" and therefore failed to close the gap with the foreign-owned companies in terms of the production efficiency. 100% Korean-owned auto-parts makers, however, outperformed the foreign-owned companies in the technological change. The outstanding technological change may indicate that Korean-owned part makers were able to narrow the gap with the foreign-owned companies in the area of engineering technological capabilities. The same results were also observed for 50% foreign-owned companies. Knowing that the core competence of the auto-parts makers lies on the engineering technological capabilities, the research found that the most desirable form of the foreign investment was 50% of foreign ownership.

The master pattern manufacturing process is one of the most important processes in jewelry industry because the process takes 20% of total jewelry manufacturing costs. The previous jewelry manufacturing process has many steps of "rough design${\leftrightarro}$ detailed drawing${\leftrightarro}$ wax pattern manufacturing ${\leftrightarro}$ lime soda flask mold manufacturing ${\leftrightarro}$ silver master pattern manufacturing ${\leftrightarro}$ mass production of wax pattern ${\leftrightarro}$ investment casting process ${\leftrightarro}$ final jewelry product." A novel process that reduces processing steps by using a rapid prototyping system (RP) has been suggested. The process is "3D CAD design ${\leftrightarro}$ DuraForm mold manufacturing by RP ${\leftrightarro}$ manufacturing master pattern by low melting alloy ${\leftrightarro}$ mass production of wax pattern ${\leftrightarro}$ investment casting process${\leftrightarro}$ final jewelry product." Molds are made with DuraForm powder, of which melting temperature is 19$0^{\circ}C$, by a selective laster sintering type RP. An alloy of Pb-Sn-Bi-Cd, of which melting temperature is $70^{\circ}C$, is casted in the DuraForm molds. Spheres and rings of diameter 20 mm are made by this process. The dimension deformation rate is less than 2%, and the post processing of the castings is convenient. The casting made by the suggested process can be used as a master pattern of jewelry products.of jewelry products.
The purpose of this study is to give ROI informations about management status and investment returns to someone who will newly cultivate lycium chinese miller or expand area of its cultivation. In this study, IRR, B/C Ratio and NPV is used for ROI analysis. We basically surveyed fifty two among Lycium Chinese Miller cultivation farmhouses in chief producing districts Chungnam Chungyang, Jeonnam Jindo in Korea from May until September in 2009. Hence, this study surveyed these farmers about production cost, management cost, input labors and materials, land price and etc. by working process to calculate production and operation cost. As the result of farm survey, average selling price of Lycium Chinese Miller is 15,000 won per kg at locals for five years. However, when 3% discount rate is applied, the result of the analysis is B/C Ratios 0.89, which shows unprofitable. Therefore, it is a possible baseline that price of Lycium Chinese Miller is at least 16,800 won per kg with 3.00% IRR and B/C Ratio is 1.00. It could be profitable with about 21.75% income ratio when price of Lycium Chinese Miller is 16,800 won per kg.
The importantce of a development of competitiveness in domestic construction industry is growing as some of domestic construction markets is scheduled to open to foreign competing firms with higher level of construction technology and management. A national level of competitiveness in domestic construction industry and firms are partially, but significantly, affected by a technology level and a characteristics of production pattern. The purpose of the study is mainly to analyze and identify a technology level, production pattern and a development stage of R&D activities of domestic construction industry and firms. Based on these findings the study draws on a concluding remarks and derives technology policy implications. Results of analysis in the study impliy that (1) competitiveness of domestic construction firms(industry) in terms of technology level is relatively weak as compare to that of advanced foreign competing firms, (2) degrees of substitution of capital for labor are seemed to be relatively high, (3) R&D (investment) activities of domestic construction firms are generally spread out in forms of import, adjustment and betterment, and (4) only a small number of big domestic construction firms are seemed to afford to R&D investment for research facilities and equipments, but not enough for higher level of R&D man-power. The study suggests that technology policy for construction industry should be based on a fundamental policy directions. For example the increase in size and heightened quality level of R&D man-power should be placed in a top priority in policy agenda. Sound and specific policy items should be developed for planning and design, and maintenace and inspection technology in order to lead domestic industry to compete with foreign firms with full strength.
This project sought to conduct an economic feasibility study regarding the commercial production of bio-hydrogen by the marine hyperthermophilic archaeon, Thermococcus onnurineus NA1 using carbon monoxide-containing industrial off-gas. We carried out the economic evaluation of the bio-hydrogen production process using the raw material of steel mill by-product gas. The process parameter was as follows: $H_2$ production rate was 5.6 L/L/h; the conversion of carbon monoxide was 60.7%. This project established an evaluation criterion for about 10,000 tonne/year. Inflation factors were considered as 3%. The operating costs were recalculated based on prices in 2014. The total investment required for development was covered 30% by capital and 70% by a loan. The operation cost for the 0.5-year test and integration, and the cost for the first three months in the 50% production period were considered as the working capital in the cost estimation. The costs required for the rental of office space, facilities, and other related costs from the construction through to full-scale production periods were considered as continuing expenses. Materials, energy, waste disposal and other charges were considered as the operating cost of the development system. Depreciation, tax, maintenance and repair, insurance, labor, interest rate charges, general and administrative costs, lubrication and miscellaneous expenses were also calculated. The hydrogen price was set at US$ 4.15/kg for the economic evaluation. As a result, the process was considered to be economical with the payback period of 6.3 years, NPV of 18 billion Won and IRR of 26.7%.
Biogas created from animal waste is a precious energy source. A practical and successful utilization of the biogas is not easy, because there lie some difficulties in biogas production and facilities investment. In this study, the requisites for a successful biogas utilization were discussed. The production results obtained in the previous operation of anaerobic digestion plant were used for the simulation. When the slurry heating was designed for constant biogas generation, depreciation costs of the facilities amounted 1,175,000 yen per year, and biogas productions at $24.5^{\circ}C$, $30.0^{\circ}C$ and $35.5^{\circ}C$ were $16.8m^3$, $17.6m^3$ and $25.1m^3$, respectively. Removal ratios of organic matters were not so high. At $35.5^{\circ}C$, energy value of the biogas produced was estimated 125.5 Mcal per day, and the following heat loss (y Mcal/day) was brought about by the temperature difference ($X^{\circ}C$) between the digester and atmosphere; y = 0.769X - 5.375. The costs of biogas production per cow were assumed to decrease according to enlargement of feeding scale, especially on scales of more than 30 cows. On recent levels of costs and prices of energy in Japan, they were nearly equal to 2 to 3 fold of the price of municipal mixed gas when a anaerobic digester was compulsorily heated and kept at $30.0^{\circ}C$ or $35.5^{\circ}C$.
Five strains producing ethanol were isolated from soil near traditional alcohol production factory in Gwangju, Korea. One of the isolated strains maintained relatively stable ethanol production in shaking culture. The isolated strain KJ was proved to be Saccharomyces italicus, based on several biochemical and morphological tests containing assimilation of carbon compounds. In investment of the most suitable carbon for ethanol production, ethanol concentration of 5.46 g/L and yield of 0.53 g-ethanol/g-glucose were obtained in condition of glucose 10 g/L in YM medium. Experimental optimal conditions for ethanol fermentation by S. italicus KJ were as follows; temperature $30^{\circ}C$, initial pH 5.0, initial concentration 10% of glucose, anaerobic condition in the liquid cultivation. When enzymatically saccharified food wastes(SFW) were used as the production medium, ethanol production yield was 0.57 g-ethanol/g-reducing sugar. Therefore, SFW will contribute to lower the production cost of ethanol for industrial application.
France owns a unique film production process with the big share of public funding. In its background there is the most developed film support scheme in the world. We consider the French film industry has the fair competition order than any other country. This study follows the French film production process from the project planning to film screening. It looks into various aspects French cinema: production scale of French films, investment/production agreement, actors casting, decision of the film budget, major investors, staffs' wages and collective convention, screening, overseas sales and profit-sharing. It aims to get across the French film industry, especially the film production sector. As a case study, we choose a romantic comedy, Heartbreaker(L'Arnacœur) made in 2010. This study presents a French film industry structure. It will give you some hints to reconsider the existing problems of Korean film industry, for example, screen monopoly, vertical integration of conglomerates, poor secondary market, low earnings rate… etc.
