  • Cyclodextrin glucanotransferase (EC 2.4.1.19, abbreviated as CGTase) is one of the most applied industrial enzymes that produces cyclodextrins from starch and related ${\alpha}$-1,4-glucans by intramolecular transglycosylation reaction upon Ca$\^$2+/ dependent manner. The reaction of CLEC, ${\alpha}$-CGTases from Bacillus macerans with the soluble starch as a substrate reveals that the surfactants (SDS, N-octyl-${\beta}$-D-glucoside) significantly affect not only the overall products of CDs but also their selectivity. The surfactants (SDS, Lubrol PX) trigger the increase of ${\alpha}$-CD production, but Triton x-100 and Tween 80 suppress ${\alpha}$-CD specificity. Organic solvents (dimethyl sulfoxide, formamide, 2-methyl-2,4-pentandiol, and ethylene glycol) also cause changes of total product and product selectivity.

  • Isopropylation of phenol with 2-propanol has been carried out over Na-exchanged ZSM-5 zeolites to determine the effect of catalyst acidity on phenol conversion and product selectivity. The acid type and strength of the catalyst such as Lewis, weak and strong Bronsted acid sites are measured by pyridine adsorbed XPS and the catalytic properties are interpreted in terms of the acid properties. The active site and mechanism for the reaction are suggested based on evidence of study from the reactant adsorbed FT-IR.

  • In recent years, olefin cross-metathesis (CM) has emerged as a powerful and convenient synthetic technique in organic chemistry; however, as a general synthetic method, CM has been limited by the lack of predictability in product selectivity and stereoselectivity. A number of excellent studies have recently appeared in the literature which have shown that with the correct catalyst and reaction conditions CM can be used to access a variety of di-and trisubstituted olefinic products in moderate to high yield with good E/Z ratios. • $CO_2$ corrosion product scales formed on 13 Cr tubing steel in autoclave and in the simulated corrosion environment of oil field are investigated in the paper. The surface and cross-section profiles of the scales were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the chemical compositions of the scales were analyzed using energy dispersion analyzer of X-ray (EDAX), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) to confirm the corrosion mechanism of the 13 Cr steel in the simulated $CO_2$ corrosion environment. The results show that the corrosion scales are formed by the way of fashion corrosion, consist mainly of four elements, i.e. Fe, Cr, C and O, and with a double-layer structure, in which the surface layer is constituted of bulky and incompact crystals of $FeCO_3$, and the inner layer is composed of compact fine $FeCO_3$ crystals and amorphous $Cr(OH)_3$. Because of the characteristics of compactness and ionic permeating selectivity of the inner layer of the corrosion product scales, 13 Cr steel is more resistant in $CO_2$ corrosion environment.

  • We conducted this study to identify the composition factors for consumers' selection attributes of accommodation applications and to identify the differences in the selection attributes perception of accommodation applications based on demographic characteristics and use status. According to the study, 6 factors were derived as the components of the selectivity of accommodation application and were named convenience, interactivity, economic efficiency, transaction reliability, product reliability and informativeness. And the respondents differed in their selection attributes perception of the accommodation application they used. In particular, it was found that the highest perception of informativeness and interactivity, and the lowest perception of product reliability. Finally, there were differences in the selection attributes perception of the accommodation application they used by demographic characteristics and use status. Based on the results of this study, we should strive to derive the effective marketing strategy needed for travel industry-related companies.

  • GC-TSQ CI technique was applied for analysis of samples for the $32^{nd}$ OPCW proficiency test. Eight chemical weapon convention(CWC) related chemicals were identified by product ion mode analysis with GC-TSQ in the samples. Choice of specific precursor ion made it possible to supply selective total ion chromatograms(TICs) of target molecule. GC-TSQ CI anaylsis technique was useful method for chemical warfare agent verification because analysis selectivity was improved by choice of mother molecule as precursor ion and gave mass spectra.

  • Reduction of carbonyl compounds such as aldehydes, ketones, $\alpha,\beta$-unsaturated enals and enones, $\alpha$-diketones and acyloins was carried out readily with $NaBH_3CN$ in the presence of wet $SiO_2$ as a neutral media. The reactions were performed at solvent-free conditions in oil bath (70 - $80^{\circ}C$) or under microwave irradiation (240 W) to give the product alcohols in high to excellent yields. Regioselective 1,2-reduction of conjugated carbonyl compounds took place in a perfect selectivity without any side product formation.

  • Slurry phase reaction of elemental silicon with methanol has been studied in the presence of copper using a small amount of cuprous chloride as an activator in DBT (dibenzyltoluene) at various temperatures from 200 ${^{\circ}C}$ to 320 ${^{\circ}C}$. Trimethoxysilane (1a) with a Si-H unit was obtained as the major product and tetramethoxysilane (1b) as the minor product. The reaction worked well using a 0.5 wt % CuCl as an activator. The optimum temperature for this direct synthesis of 1a was 240 ${^{\circ}C}$. Methoxysilanes were obtained in 95% yield with 81% selectivity to 1a from 85% conversion of elemental silicon.

  • The effect of Group I alkali acetate promoters on vinyl acetate (VA) synthesis was evaluated. Catalyst product selectivity and ethylene conversion are compared to the unpromoted catalyst in the fixed-bed reactor with oxidation reaction of ethylene and acetic acid in gaseous phase over Pd-Au/$SiO_2$ catalyst. It was found that: a) the promoters were stabilized on the catalyst surface, b) common effect for the alkali promoted Pd-Au catalysts increaseed in product selectivity and ethylene conversion compared to unpromoted catalyst (these effects increase from top to the bottom of Group I). These promoting effect is due to the common-ion effect of acetate, present in the reaction, resulting in an increase in the activity of the catalyst. In addition a complementary theory for the effect of Au in the structure of the catalyst is proposed the imposition of distribution of palladium particles through decreasing the particle's diameter.
