  • In this paper, we present an efficient authentication proxy for IEEE 802.1x systems based on the port-based access control mechanism. An IEEE 802.1x system consists of PC supplicants, a bridge with authentication client functions, and an authentication server. For the network security and user authentication purposes, a supplicant who wants to access Internet should be authorized to access the bridge port using the Extended Authentication Protocol (EAP) over LAN. The frame of EAP over LAN is then relayed to the authentication server by the bridge. After several transactions between the supplicant and the server via the bridge, the supplicant may be either authorized or not. Noting that the transactions between the relaying bridge and the server will be increased as the number of supplicants grows in public networks, we propose a scheme for reducing the transactions by employing an authentication proxy function at the bridge. The proxy is allowed to cache the supplicant's user ID and password during his first transaction with the server. For the next authentication procedure of the same supplicant, the proxy function of the bridge handles the authentication transactions using its cache on behalf of the authentication server. Since the main authentication server handles only the first authentication transaction of each supplicant, the processing load of the server can be reduced. Also, the authentication transaction delay experienced by a supplicant can be decreased compared with the conventional 802.1x system.

  • Thia paper suggests a milti user-authentication system comprises that DNA biometric informatiom, owner's RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) smartcard of hardware token, and PKI digital signqture of software. This system improved items proposed in [1] as follows : this mechanism provides one RFID smartcard instead of two user-authentication smartcard(the biometric registered seal card and the DNA personal ID card), and solbers user information exposure as RFID of low proce when the card is lost. In addition, this can be perfect multi user-autentication system to enable identification even in cases such as identical twins, the DNA collected from the blood of patient who has undergone a medical procedure involving blood replacement and the DNA of the blood donor, mutation in the DNA base of cancer cells and other cells. Therefore, the proposed system is applied to terminal log-on with RFID smart card that stores accurate digital DNA biometric information instead of present biometric user-authentication system with the card is lost, which doesn't expose any personal DNA information. The security of PKI digital signature private key can be improved because secure pseudo random number generator can generate infinite one-time pseudo randon number corresponding to a user ID to keep private key of PKI digital signature securely whenever authenticated users access a system. Un addition, this user-authentication system can be used in credit card, resident card, passport, etc. acceletating the use of biometric RFID smart' card. The security of proposed system is shown by statistical anaysis.

  • In order to constructan ubiquitous computing environment, it is necessary to develop a technology that can recognize users and circumstances. In this regard, the question of recognizing and expressing user Context regardless of computer and language types has emerged as an important task under the heterogeneous distributed processing system. As a means to solve this task of representing user Context in the ubiquitous environment, this paper proposes to describe user Context as the most similar form of human thinking by using semantic web and fuzzy concept independentof language and computer types. Because the conventional method of representing Context using an usual collection has some limitations in expressing the environment of the real world, this paper has chosen to use Fuzzy OWL language, a fusion of fuzzy concept and standard web ontology language OWL. Accordingly, this paper suggests the following method. First we represent user contacted environmental information with a numerical value and states, and describe it with OWL. After that we transform the converted OWL Context into Fuzzy OWL. As a last step, we prove whether the automatic circumstances are possible in this procedure when we use fuzzy inference engine FiRE. With use the suggested method in this paper, we can describe Context which can be used in the ubiquitous computing environment. This method is more effective in expressing degree and status of the Context due to using fuzzy concept. Moreover, on the basis of the stated Context we can also infer the user contacted status of the environment. It is also possible to enable this system to function automatically in compliance with the inferred state.

  • The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the cleaning efficacy of various irrigation methods in the mandibular mesial roots. The forty five mesial root canals were shaped by Profile .06 instruments to apical size #30 and irrigated with 5ml of 3.5% NaOCl. The teeth were divided into 3 groups and irrigated finally for 1 minute; Group 1: syringe irrigation. Group 2: ultrasonic irrigation. Group 3: RinsEndo irrigation. After histological processing, the cross sections of apical 1, 3, and 5 mm level were examined with an optical microscope. The cleanliness values of canals and isthmuses were calculated and analyzed by Mann-Whitney U test. 1. There were no significant differences in both canal and isthmus cleanliness between syringe irrigation and ultrasonic irrigation except 5 mm level of isthmus. 2. RinsEndo irrigation had significantly higher canal cleanliness values than syringe irrigation at 1 mm and 3 mm levels (p<0.05). Also, RinsEndo irrigation had significantly higher isthmus cleanliness values than syringe irrigation at all levels evaluated (p<0.05). 3. There were no statistical differences in both canal and isthmus cleanliness between ultrasonic irrigation and RinsEndo irrigation except 3 mm level of canal. From this study, RinsEndo irrigation can be useful as an additional irrigation procedure.

  • The accurate geo-referencing processes that apply ground control points is prerequisite for effective end use of HRSI (High-resolution satellite imagery). Since the conventional control point acquisition by human operator takes long time, demands for the automated matching to existing reference data has been increasing its popularity. Among many options of reference data, the airborne LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) data shows high potential due to its high spatial resolution and vertical accuracy. Additionally, it is in the form of 3-dimensional point cloud free from the relief displacement. Recently, a new matching method between LiDAR data and HRSI was proposed that is based on the image projection of whole LiDAR data into HRSI domain, however, importing and processing the large amount of LiDAR data considered as time-consuming. Therefore, we wmotivated to ere propose a local LiDAR chip generation for the HRSI geo-referencing. In the procedure, a LiDAR point cloud was rasterized into an ortho image with the digital elevation model. After then, we selected local areas, which of containing meaningful amount of edge information to create LiDAR chips of small data size. We tested the LiDAR chips for fully-automated geo-referencing with Kompsat-2 and Kompsat-3 data. Finally, the experimental results showed one-pixel level of mean accuracy.

  • Capsule endoscopy is specialized for the observation of small intestine that is difficult to access by general endoscopy. The diagnostic procedure through capsule endoscopy consists of three stages: examination of indicant, endoscopy, and diagnosis. At this time, key information needed for diagnosis includes indicant, lesions, and suspected disease information. In this paper, these information are defined as semantic features and the extracting process is defined as semantic-based analysis. It is performed in whole capsule endoscopy. First, several symptoms of patient are checked before capsule endoscopy to get some information on suspected disease. Next, capsule endoscopy is performed by checking the suspected diseases. Finally, diagnosis is concluded by using supporting information. At this time, some association are used to conclude diagnosis. For example, there are the disease association between the symptom and the disease to identify the expected disease, and the anatomical association between the location of the lesion and supporting information. However, existing knowledge models such as MST and CEST only lists the simple term related to endoscopy and cannot consider such semantic associations. Therefore, in this paper, we propose association-based knowledge model for supporting diagnosis of capsule endoscopy. The proposed model is divided into two; a disease model and anatomical model of small intestine, interesting area(organs) of capsule endoscopy. It can effectively support diagnosis by providing key information for capsule endoscopy.

  • This paper presents an algorithm that automatically extracts buildings among many different features on the earth surface by fusing LIDAR data with panchromatic aerial images. The proposed algorithm consists of three stages such as point level process, polygon level process, parameter space level process. At the first stage, we eliminate gross errors and apply a local maxima filter to detect building candidate points from the raw laser scanning data. After then, a grouping procedure is performed for segmenting raw LIDAR data and the segmented LIDAR data is polygonized by the encasing polygon algorithm developed in the research. At the second stage, we eliminate non-building polygons using several constraints such as area and circularity. At the last stage, all the polygons generated at the second stage are projected onto the aerial stereo images through collinearity condition equations. Finally, we fuse the projected encasing polygons with edges detected by image processing for refining the building segments. The experimental results showed that the RMSEs of building corners in X, Y and Z were 8.1cm, 24.7cm, 35.9cm, respectively.

  • The purpose of this paper is to extract fast DEM (Digital Elevation Model) using satellite images. DEM extraction consists of three parts. First part is the modeling of satellite position and attitude, second part is the matching of two images to find corresponding points of them and third part is to calculate the elevation of each point by using the results of the first and second part. The position and attitude modeling of satellite is processed by using GCPs. A area based matching method is used to find corresponding points between the stereo satellite images. The elevation of each point is calculated using the exterior orientation parameters obtained from modeling and conjugate points from matching. In the DEM generation system, matching procedure holds most of a processing time, therefore to reduce the time for matching, a new fast matching algorithm using gradient correlation and fast similarity measure calculation method is proposed. In this paper, the SPOT satellite images, level 1A 6000$\times$6000 panchromatic images are used to extract DEM. The experiment result shows the possibility of fast DEM extraction with the satellite images.

  • Next-generation sequencing (NGS) is a high-throughput technique for sequencing large numbers of DNA fragments that are prepared from a genome. This sequencing technique has been used to elucidate whole genome sequences of living organisms and to analyze complementary DNA (cDNA) or chromatin immunoprecipitated DNA (ChIPed DNA) at the genome level. After NGS, the use of proper tools is important for processing and analyzing data with reasonable parameters. However, handling large-scale sequencing data and programing for data analysis can be difficult. The Galaxy platform, a public web service system, provides many different tools for NGS data analysis, and it allows researchers to analyze their data on a web browser with no deep knowledge about bioinformatics and/or programing. In this study, we explain the procedure for preparing chromatin immunoprecipitation-sequencing (ChIP-seq) libraries and steps for analyzing ChIP-seq data using the Galaxy platform. The data analysis steps include the NGS data upload to Galaxy, quality check of the NGS data, premapping processes, read mapping, the post-mapping process, peak-calling and visualization by window view, heatmaps, average profile, and correlation analysis. Analysis of our histone H3K4me1 ChIP-seq data in K562 cells shows that it correlates with public data. Thus, NGS data analysis using the Galaxy platform can provide an easy approach to bioinformatics.

  • Background: The use of a functionally closed system for the glycerolization and deglycerolization of red blood cells (RBCs) allows for prolonged post-thaw storage for more than 24 hours. The aim of this study was to assess glycerolization and deglycerolization processing for RBCs using a high glycerol method in the automated, closed system provided by Haemonetics ACP 215. Methods: Thirty-five packed RBCs were glycerolized using the ACP 215 to a final concentration of 40% (wt/vol). The units were either frozen as such (n=30) or excess glycerol was removed (n=5) before freezing. After storage at $-80^{\circ}C$, the units were thawed, deglycerolized and resuspended in SAG-M. The frozen-thawed RBCs were stored at $4^{\circ}C$, and analyzed for their stability and in vitro quality. Results: No prefreeze excess glycerol removal units showed significantly less potassium leakage during post-thaw storage compared to the prefreeze excess glycerol removal units. All measurements of the stability and in vitro quality of thawed RBCs prepared from frozen RBCs without the prefreeze removal of excess glycerol during post-thaw storage at $4^{\circ}C$ for 7 days were acceptable to the American Blood Bank Association's standards and European standards. Conclusion: RBCs frozen without prefreeze removal of excess glycerol and the ACP 215 simplifies cryopreservation procedure and increases the stability of frozen-thawed RBCs. This increases the practical applicability of cryopreserved RBCs in blood transfusion practice.
