  • Image segmentation is a very crucial step in effective digital image processing. In the past decade, several research contributions were given related to this field. However, a general segmentation algorithm suitable for various applications is still challenging. Among several image segmentation approaches, graph-based approach has gained popularity due to its basic ability which reflects global image properties. This paper proposes a methodology to partition the image with its pixel, region and texture along with its intensity. To make segmentation faster in large images, it is processed in parallel among several CPUs. A way to achieve this is to split images into tiles that are independently processed. However, regions overlapping the tile border are split or lost when the minimum size requirements of the segmentation algorithm are not met. Here the contributions are made to segment the image on the basis of its pixel using min-cut/max-flow algorithm along with edge-based segmentation of the image. To segment on the basis of the region using a homogenous optimum cut algorithm with boundary segmentation. On the basis of texture, the object type using spectral partitioning technique is identified which also minimizes the graph cut value.

  • In this paper, we propose a color image improvement method. The proposed algorithms are classified with the adaptive contrast stretching method for contrast enhancement and the adaptive saturation enhancement method for saturation enhancement. The adaptive contrast stretching method is to compensate a significant change of brightness while luminance is processed. The adaptive saturation enhancement method inhibits its saturation from de-saturation and oversaturation while chrominance is processed. The proposed algorithms are focused on a preference color processing in order to generate better image quality than the algorithms focused on a uniform color processing for human vision.

  • In this paper, we propose the image encryption method using complemented MLCA based on 90/150 NBCA(Null Boundary Cellular Automata). The encryption method is processed in the following order. First, complemented MLCA, which is derived from linear LFSR, is used to produce a PN(pseudo noise) sequence, which matches the size of the original image. Then, the created complemented MLCA sequence goes through a XOR operation with the original image to become encrypted. Lastly, an experiment is processed to verify the effectiveness of this method.

  • In this paper, we suggest a new system that detects abnormal region of skim. First, an illumination elimination algorithm which uses LAB color model is processed on input facial image to obtain robust facial image for illumination, and then gabor filter is processed to detect the reactivity of discontinuity. And last, the density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise(DBSCAN) algorithm is processed to classify areas of wrinkles, dots, and other skin diseases. This method allows the user to check the skin condition of the images taken in real life.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel post processing method of deconvolution for SAR images based on phase extension inverse filtering, which improves spatial resolution as well as effectively eliminates sidelobes with low computational complexity. It extends the bandwidth only to control the magnitude of the processed SAR data without distortions of the phase in frequency domain unlike the other techniques such as spatially variant apodization (SVA), and other deconvolution techniques. We compare the image processed by the proposed method with images processed by uniform weighting function, Hamming weighting function whose coefficient is 0.75, and SVA.

  • Recently, the data image processing has been applied to a variety of fields including broadcasting, communication, computer graphics, medicine, and so on. Generally, the image data may develop the noise during their transmission. Therefore, the studies have been actively conducted to remove the noise on the image. There are diverse types of noise on the image including salt and pepper noise, AWGN, and mixed noise. Hence, the filter algorithm for the image recovery was proposed that salt and pepper noise was processed by histogram and spatial weighted values after defining the noise to lessen the impact of mixed noise added in the image, and AWGN was processed by the pixel information of local mask establishing the weighted values in this study. Regarding the processed results by applying Lena images which were corrupted by salt and pepper noise(P=50%) and AWGN(${\sigma}=10$), suggested algorithm showed the improvement by 7.06[dB], 10.90[dB], 5.97[dB] respectively compared with the existing CWMF, A-TMF, AWMF.

  • This paper presents a development result for image processed tracking system of multiple moving objects based on Kalman filter and a simple window tracking method. The proposed algorithm of foreground detection and background adaptation (FDBA) is composed of three modules: a block checking module(BCM), an object movement prediction module(OMPM), and an adaptive background estimation module (ABEM). The BCM is processed for checking the existence of objects. To speed up the image processing time and to precisely track multiple objects under the object's mergence, a concept of a simple window tracking method is adopted in the OMPM. The ABEM separates the foreground from the background in the reset simple tracking window in the OMPM. It is shown through experimental results that the proposed FDBA algorithm is robustly adaptable to the background variation in a short processing time. Furthermore, it is shown that the proposed method can solve the problems of mergence, cross and split that are brought up in the case of tracking multiple moving objects.

  • A laser speckle is a random pattern that has a granular appearance produced by reflected light when a coherent laser illuminates an irregular course surface. Laser speckle system has many advantages. It can detect some animals functional parts. Moreover, it relatively consists of simple and in-expensive system. It is very important that detecting micro-vessels through image processed image. Current study is to improve image quality through variable image processing method. But this paper made laser speckle endoscope for miniaturization and commercialization laser speckle system. We had endoscope test through goldfish's tail. We will compare the processed speckle image and halogen image.

  • One of the most significant feature of diagnostic ultrasonic instrument is to display information on the soft tissues in the body in real time. In this paper we carried out basic study on the digital moving image processing for tracing the movement of heart valves in echocardiograms. Digital moving image file was made from analog echocardiograms and it was remade as 256 gray-level images on each frame. The ROI(Region of interest) was placed on a heart valve region to process images efficiently. Images were processed by the use of image enhancement filters and morphology filters. The result shows that the processed images were more enhanced than original images. When a moving image is reconstructed by using these enhanced images, we can trace the movement of heart valves more easily. In this study we proposed the availability of the moving image reconstruction using enhancement images.
