  • Tungsten-carbide as typical difficult-to-cut material has excellent mechanical properties such as high thermal resistivity, mechanical strength and chemical durability. However, it is next to impossible for tungsten-carbide to be fabricated the needed parts by cutting process. In this study, for establishing the micro fabrication method of tungsten-carbide for micro injection or compression molding core, the investigation on micro cutting characteristics of tungsten-carbide green part which is made by powder injection molding process and easy to cut relatively was performed. For this, micro endmilling experiments of tungsten-carbide green part were performed according to various cutting conditions. Finally, the wear trend of micro endmill and the appearance of micro rib according to feed-rate and cutting depth per step were analyzed through SEM images of micro cutting feature and microscope images of micro tools.

  • Powder compaction is a continually and rapidly evolving technology where it is a highly developed method of manufacturing reliable components. To understand existing mechanisms for compaction, parameter investigation is required. Experimental investigations on powder compaction process, followed by numerical modeling of compaction are presented in this paper. The experimental work explores compression characteristics of soft and hard ductile powder materials. In order to account for deformation, fracture and movement of the particles, a discrete-finite element analysis model is defined to reflect the experimental data and to enable investigations on mechanisms present at the particle level. Effects of important simulation factors and process parameters, such as particle count, time step, particle discretization, and particle size on the powder compaction procedure have been explored.

  • This paper presents an investigation of abnormal wear of a contact jig between a nail and a nail fixture in electric resistance welding. To perform an analysis on the abnormal wear phenomenon, several methods are provided. Based on the theory of electric resistance welding, are analyzed. Using microscopic analysis, surface craters are observed. In the measurement of the electric current flow in the nail fixture, the current flow distribution is measured. From several analyses, the cause of abnormal wear in the contact jig is measured using the electric discharge of high current density at the inflow point of the electric supply to the nail fixture. An alternative shape for normal wear is proposed.

  • In this paper, we analyzed on the fire cause of the metering out fit(MOF) installed the outdoors in domestic. There are observed by the rule is approved officially such as KS C IEC. and developed into the judgement can be in site. As the results, there founded out the fire cause on the gasket parts of MOF as the process of work which finish is bad. It's estimated the fire process that water percolates through on the MOF according to the un-airtight gasket.

  • A hybrid De- NOx technique of non-thermal plasma and $NH_3$ SCR process has been investigated to remove NOx from 300 hp marine engine exhaust under the low temperature conditions, i.e. $100-200^{\circ}C$. Fundamental investigation with Diesel-like simulant gas was also conducted. The performance of the present technique has been demonstrated by treating real diesel exhaust gases, in which high contents of soot, water vapor, $SO_2$, NOx, and unburned HC are included. Detailed engineering data for evaluating the feasibility of the technique are provided in the present investigation.

  • Full mold casting process is a new technique offering numerous advantages and promising possibilities. The present study is aimed to bring out the results of experiments carried out to study the effect of pattern coatings on the solidification of 99.5% pure aluminum plate-shaped castings in the various sand molds and the thermal behavior of the molds. The results of the investigation indicate that (i) with increase in pattern coating thickness, the relative chilling power decreases gradually for silica and increases for zircon coating, and (ii) the application of a pattern coating significantly reduces the maximum interface temperature by the mold which is more pronounced in the case of thinner mold wall. The investigation also indicates that Chvorinov's rule is not found to be valid for the casting in the full mold, with or without pattern coating. Therefore in full mold process, the pattern coating thickness will be a very important parameter in the study of thermal behavior.

  • This paper presents an investigation of the ability of the scheme to simultaneously accomplish both prediction of fracture initiation and analysis of deformation in cold forged products. The Cockcroft-Latham criterion which is successfully applied to a variety of loading situations is used in the present investigation to estimate if and where surface and internal fracture occur during the deformation process. The numerical predictions and experimental results of two types of fundamental cold metal forming process taken into account are compared. Finite element simulation combined with fracture criterion has successfully predicted the site of surface or internal fracture initiation and corresponding to level of deformation observed experimentally.
