  • A roller straightening process is a metal forming technique to improve the geometric quality of products such as straightness and flatness. The geometrical quality can be enhanced by eliminating unnecessary deformations produced during upstream manufacturing processes and minimizing any detrimental internal stress during the roller straightening process. The quality of steel cords can be achieved by the roller straightening depends the process parameters. Such process parameters are the roll intermesh, the roll pitch, the diameter of rolls, the number of rolls and the applied tension. This paper is concerned with the design optimization of the roller straightening process for steel cords with the aid of elasto-plastic finite element analysis. Effects of the process parameters on the straightness of the steel cord are investigated by the finite element analysis. Based on the analysis results, the optimization of the roller straightening process is performed by the response surface method. The roller straightening process using optimum design parameters is carried out in order to confirm the quality of the final products.

디자인 과정에서 나타난 은유사고의 분석 (An Analysis on Metaphorical Thinking in Design Process)

  • 본 연구는 디자인 과정 중에 발생하는 디자이너의 사고행위를 해석하는 디자인 과학 연구의 하나로서 인지심리학의 이론을 바탕으로 디자인 과점에 대한 인지실험을 실시하여 은유사고를 이해하고자 하였다. 연구방법으로는 건축 디자이너를 대상으로 디자인 개념 설정 과정에 대한 디자인 리뷰(review)실험을 실시하여 겉으로 드러나지 않는 은유사고를 언어표현으로 끄집어내고 그 내용을 분석하여 디자인 과정에서 은유사고의 특성을 살펴보았다. 주어진 디자인 상황에서 디자이너가 문제를 해결하고 개념을 설정하는 사고과정을 회상해서 이야기한 내용을 분석하여 디자인 과정을 디자인 아이디어의 발생과정으로 재구성하고 이 과정에서 나타난 은유사고를 아이디어 발생 측면에서 분석하여 디자인에서 은유사고의 특성을 파악하였다. 연구결과 디자인 과정에서 발생하는 아이디어의 생성에 가장 중요한 접은 어느 시점에 다수의 새로운 아이디어가 생성되어 디자인 사고가 확산되는 젓이며 이러한 디자인 아이디어의 확산에 은유사고가 결정적인 역할을 담당하고 있는 것이다.

동부스바 인발 금형설계 (Die Design of Drawing for the Copper Bus-bar)

  • Copper bus-bar is made by drawing process and used in many part of industry. Ohen design drawing die for copper bus-bar, design factor is focused on the deformation of die-land by drawing force and shrink fit. In this paper it is analyzed to determine shrink fit value by shrink fit analysis program which is used with APDL/UIDL language in a commercial FEM package, ANSYS. The shrink fit analysis has been developed that enables optimal desist of the dies taking into account the elastic deflections. Elastic deflection is generated in shrink fitting the die inserts and that caused by the stresses generated using DEFORM software for drawing process analysis. This data can be processed as load input data fir a finite element die-stress analysis. Process simulation and stress analysis are thus combined during the drawing die design. The stress analysis of the dies is used to determine optimized dimension of die-land.

무인헬기용 티타늄 합금 로터 그립의 열간성형해석 (Hot Forging Analysis of Rotor Grip with Titanium Alloy for Unmanned Helicopter)

  • Rotor grip is used as a component of rotor system in unmanned helicopter. Instead of usual machining, hot forging process has been considered to improve its proof stress against repeated loading conditions and crash in the farm-field. Die design and forming analysis have been performed according to the conditions such as billet volume, flash, cavity filling, and the distribution of damage during the forming by using FE analysis. In the results of analysis, the possibility of structural failure in the model has not been found because its maximum effective stress is much lower than yield strength of the titanium alloy. In the forging die design, flash has been allowed because of low production in the industrial field. Preform design was studied by using FE-analysis, and its optimal dimension was obtained in the hot forging of rotor grip with titanium alloy.

3D 설계 프로세스 정립을 통한 복잡한 시스템 설계에서의 공용부품 사용 극대화 (Maximizing Use of Common Parts in Complex System Design through Organizing 3D Design Process)

  • Designing a complex system such as an LCD developing system becomes inefficient when many designers are involved and create their own parts even though they can be used repeatedly in other sections. Thus, this paper proposes a new design process that can maximize the number of common parts in complex system design by organizing the 3D design process. The proposed design process consists of 5 stages: analysis of design intention, definition of initial product structure, definition of skeleton model, sharing design intention with all assembles, control of correlation between components. The proposed design process can maximize common parts in design process, which results in shorter lead time, less production cost, and greater economic benefits.

  • 본 연구에서는 인간의 촉감 메커니즘을 반영하여 햅틱 인지 요인을 적용할 수 있는 진동 촉감 인터페이스 설계 프로세스를 제안하였다. 본 프로세스는 총 4단계로 햅틱 감각의 요구사항 분석 단계, 햅틱 요소 분석 단계, 햅틱 인지 요인분석 단계, 햅틱 요구사항 상세 설계 및 시제품 구현 단계로 구성된다. 본 설계 프로세스의 장점은 햅틱 인지 요인 분석을 적용함으로써 사용자 요구사항 도출 및 구현 시 불필요한 작업들을 배제할 수 있으며, 가장 큰 특징은 인체공학적 특징을 설계에 반영할 수 있고, 사용자 평가와 사용성 테스트, 햅틱 기능 최적화 작업을 동시에 수행함으로써 시제품 개발이 완료됨과 동시에 햅틱 요구사항 명세서가 완료된다는 것이다. 본 설계 프로세스는 사용자의 요구사항에서부터 햅틱 기능 상세설계 및 시제품 구현에 대한 전체 단계를 포함하고 있어 햅틱에 대한 전문 지식이 부족한 일반 개발자들도 사용자 중심의 설계가 가능하여 일정 수준 이상의 햅틱 기능 설계 및 구현을 가능케 할 것으로 기대된다.

다공 Al 컨덴서 튜브의 압출공정 해석 (Extrusion Process Analysis for Al Condenser Tube with Multi Hole)

  • This paper describes the analysis of extrusion process and integrity for a condenser tube which is a component of the heat exchanger in automobile and all conditioning apparatus. Recently, according to the development of analysis method using the computer, the numerical simulation have been applied to the 3-dimensional hot extrusion process with complex section area of the non-steady statement and then results of the analysis have been applied to optimal die design and process design. In this paper, firstly, the die design was performed for a condenser tube with a multi-hole section and the rigid-plasticity FE analysis performed of extrusion process. Secondly, we estimated metal flow of billet, extrusion load, welding pressure in chamber etc. and evaluated the pressure and elastic strain of the die land and mandrel tooth profile through a stress analysis of the die. Finally, the extrusion test was performed to estimate the validity of FE analysis. This paper confirmed that the designed extrusion die of the research is satisfactorily designed fur integrity of condenser tube.

  • This paper analysis the process capability by applying experiment design to control alcohol in soluble matter mixing process of laundry soap. The results are summarized as follows: (1) Alcohol insoluble matter shows the tendency of increasing according to the mixing temperature (A) and beating velocity (B). (2) The most suitable working condition of the mixing process is $A_2B_2$, and 95% confidence limit of alcohol insoluble matter is $22.06{\pm}0.77%$. (3) The process capability index ($C_p$) of the mixing process is improved from 0.64 to 1.68.

Development of a Web-based MDO Framework for Design and Analysis Integration

  • The rapid progress of the Internet and network is affecting the engineering design environment as well as business that use Web technologies to enhance their competitive edge. In product development, experts and organization who take part in the design process are often geographically dispersed. Furthermore, different divisions and business often have heterogeneous CAD/CAE systems and methods for expressing product data, and addressing this heterogeneity creates additional costs and increases development time. Managing distributed CAD, CAE and other related systems in an organic and holistic manner from the initial stages of product development is imperative to ensure successful collaboration in the design process. Therefore, this study suggests a Web-based MDO framework to support interfacing and collective use of design and analysis tools.

In product development, experts and organizations actually taking part in the design process are often geographically dispersed. Furthermore, different divisions and businesses often have heterogeneous CAD/CAE systems and methods for expressing product data, and addressing this heterogeneity creates additional costs and causes longer development periods. To ensure successful collaboration in the design process, it is therefore imperative that distributed CAD, CAE, and other related systems be managed in an organic and integrated manner from the initial stages of product development. Therefore, this study suggests Web-based MDO(Multidisciplinary Design Optimization) framework to support interfacing and the collective use of design and analysis tools.
